Obituary: services for 60 year Cortez resident, Willie Sanchez, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 13, 2016 at Evangel Assembly of God Church. Cremation will follow. Willie was born 4, 1925 in Gallina, N.M. the son of Salvador and Ascencion (Valdez) Sanchez. Willie passed away on , 8, 2016 at his residence at the age of 90. Willie married Lea E. Espinoza on 30, 1949 in Aztec, N.M. He was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church. Since 1975, Willie was the owner of Will Sanchez Gravel & Excavation. He loved horses and the Colorado high country; fishing, camping and enjoyed 58 consecutive years of hunting with the 2015 season being his last. He will be deeply missed. Willie is survived by his wife, Lea of Cortez, Colo.; his children, Billy W. Sanchez (Kathy), Aline Sanchez, Patricia White (Patrick) all of Cortez, Kathy Perea (Tom J.) of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Brenda Knapp (Ron) of Cortez; his siblings, Juanita Perea and Lillie Waldron both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ben Sanchez and Truiva Calvillo (Ralph) all of Cortez, Colo.; his 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Henry Sanchez, Delfine Sanchez and Sally Montoya. |

Obituary: TONY ELEANOR SANCHEZ Tony Eleanor Sanchez, 72 of Cortez, Colo., passed away on , 19, 2015 in Cortez. She was born 27, 1943 in Dolores, Colo. the daughter of Henry Romero, Jr. and Maxine (Vigil) Romero. Eleanor married Benjamin Sanchez on May 15, 1961 in Aztec, N.M. She and Ben shared the joy of raising two sons. For years, Eleanor operated the T. E. Silks, a flower shop, from her home. She also enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, including pottery. Surviving Eleanor are her husband, Benjamin Sanchez; her two sons Melvin Sanchez and wife, Teresa Brown-Sanchez and Marvin Sanchez and wife, Genny all of Cortez; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Nolan. According to Eleanors wishes, cremation has taken place. |
