Obituary: Edward John Supriano 9/17/1942 - 5/22/2015 When Eddie walked into a room you knew it. He was a handsome man who loved the ladies. If you knew him, you knew he would always tell it like it was. Either you loved him or you didn't there was no in between. He was a strong loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He had a great life until it was sadly taken away from him to early and unexpectedly. He wasn't someone who got angry. He never yelled he was just loud. He seemed mean at times but he was really a sweet kind man and he will be missed. He was born on 17,1942 in Alameda to John (mouse) Supriano and Evelyn Supriano. He had an older brother whom preceded him in death Donald Supriano. According to cousin Joyce Eddie grew up in San Leandro with a bunch of cousins, aunts, uncles and most of them lived on Pacific Ave in San Leandro. A mingling of cousins, had tons of fun playing in the fields and streets and going down to the Bay which, of course is now the Marina. There use to be a grove of almond trees on Pacific Ave and they all lived on the other side of the street, but during the second WW all those houses were built. Eddie and all his cousins use to play and hide in the tall sticker bushes. He was in the Navy Reserves. He worked at Manor Bowling Alley behind the counter, fixing the machines and pins and Bartending. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor until he was laid off. He also worked for Lucky Warehouse and Owens Glass Factory. He also worked for Hayward Video Duplicating . He also went out and started power washing homes and became interested in Real Estate and he went on to take the Real Estate exam and passed it the first time according to his friend Al and was successful in selling the hard to find properties in some extremely remote areas. He also said dad took pride in helping others and he did I agree with that, he was always helping everybody. Eddie was married to Dana and had two sons Robert and Daniel. Robert has three children, one daughter with Karen named Leah. Two sons with Kim named Connor and Christian and two great grandchildren Aiden and Adele. Daniel has three sons, one son Little Danny with Andrea and two sons Devon and Brenton with Teresa. Then he met our mom Susan and they had me Wendy and my brother Richie. My brother has four children Danielle, Jessica, Ashley and Michael with his wife Lou and Ashley Bates has two daughters Destinee and little Suzy with her Husband Garry Bates, Richie's granddaughters. My husband Michael and I have three children Michelle, Christina and Samantha and Michelle has a daughter our granddaughter Angel with Josh Finney. Some of our earliest memories of our dad were from the Apartment we lived in on Anita Ave. When we were growing up we could not waste food and one time Richie didn't finish his cheerios and dad made him sit in the highchair, by the time he ate them they were all soggy and he has never eaten cheerios again which actually were dad's favorite cereal with coffee in them. This was also the apartment were we learned to swim at, dad taught Richie to swim at age 4. It was also the pool that Wendy almost drowned in if not for dad she would have. Then we moved to a house in San Leandro on 163rd at that time dad was working at Manor Bowl in San Leandro. While working there he recorded a 290 game in league play. He thru a solid 10 on the first frame and picked up a spare and then 11 strikes in a row. Unfortunately Richie was never able to go head to head with Dad. During the summer we would go down to Woodrow Wilson School and play Baseball which is also where my father and I met my future husband who use to play baseball with my Dad. Dad was a great ball player he played short stop. He loved everything about baseball, he was quick and he had fast reflexes. As for me I remember being Daddy's little girl always. He would take us fishing at Lake Chabot, but he always worried about me getting close to the water. He taught us how to fish, scale and clean the fish and mom cooked them. He took Richie to the Berkeley Pier to fish at 3am they would load up the car and go and then off to the fifth wheel to eat breakfast and off to fishing. He use to take us bowling and he loved to go to Great America. I'll never forget the time that Caterpillar was on strike and he let me go hang out with him for the whole day and we drank coffee. He was always giving all of us kids coffee. One of the things Richie learned from dad was don't ever think you can take on an old man. Our brother Danny tried it once and got knocked out for 43 seconds. the rest of us just boxed with him for fun we were smarter than that. Even though Richie had the height and reach advantage he couldn't keep Dad off of him. Eddie was Golden Gloves Champion at the boys and girls club. Another thing I remember about my dad is the fact that my brother always got in trouble and I never did. With Dad it was do as I say not as I do. Do your homework, do your chores and go outside and play. He would tell us be a kid, play, have fun, explore ,don't get hurt or get into trouble and don't bother me until it's time for dinner and don't be late because we continued... |
