Obituary: Bobby Melvin Stobaugh Sr. Baptized; 23, 1948 at the Sacred Heart Church, 546 Filmore Street in San Francisco according to the Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. Marriage; by the State of California City and of San Francisco on 29, 1955. Then on 13, 1966 according to the Rite of the Roman Catholic Church; he married that woman again. Virginia Dawn Nichols, the mother of his five children and the auntie to their adopted son. This time they married at St. Philips Church, 725 Diamond Street in San Francisco. Born; Bobby Melvin Baby Nelson 25, 1931. He was raised from six months old by Alex and Pearl Stobaugh and later adopted. His birth fathers death preceded his birth by eleven months. He was preceded in death by his birth mother Margret Mary Berry from Kansas City, MO. His dad Alex L. Stobaugh of McKinleyville, CA. His mom Pearl May Stobaugh of McKinleyville. His daughter Sheree Lynn Stockham of McKinleyville, CA and six brothers and sisters Charles Buster Nelson, born in Eldon, MO. Clara Belle Nelson born in Eldon, MO. Mary Rita Nelson, Harry Clyde Nelson, Whane G. Nelson, and Peggy Jean Nelson all born in the township of Clark in Cole , MO. He was a veteran of the United States Army and during his tour of duty he won a literacy award for a letter he wrote What I Can Do For Freedom for which he was presented with a George Washington Honor Medal in the 1961 Freedom Foundation letter writing contest. The Veterans Administration brought his health care up to a whole new level. Unlike the old power chair that held his hospital bed in place, his new power chair from the VA gave him a whole new sense of freedom which he enjoyed to the very end. Thanks to Brian from Life On Wheels he has been all over this house again. Family members would like to thank Delivered Meals. Even though he qualified to receive the meals for free he donated generously every month because he knew it took a lot of meal preparation and housekeeping responsibilities off of his sons shoulders. Education: High School; Graduated with honors from Pineville High School in Pineville, MO. Offered a scholarship to the University of MO but he turned it down to work with his Uncle, Allen Story in the Sheet Metal trade in San Francisco. a disabling accident the family moved to Humboldt so Grandpa could fish and Dad could retrain at of the Redwoods where in 1975 he was a graduate with highest honors and a 3.93 GPA. He competed along with his son, Bobby Jr., with CRs intercollegiate speech team for 3 years, and in 1975 they went to the National Championship and they were crowned THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!! he worked Security at Redwood Acres where he became a familiar site at the door and he received an appreciation award from Six Rivers Racing Association. I first walked the pier with my grandfather, Alex, at that time. Since then I have walked that pier with Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, and Lance Hendrickson. The Hallmarks, Vissers, Duncans, Figgarowas, Laras, Mooreheads and every Eureka Fisheries boat captain in Trinidad Bay. This will be the first time I walked it with members of my family since 1971. 12:00 noon, 17, 2010 family and friends will gather in the parking lot of the Seascape Restaurant for a Walk of Remembrance down the pier and up to the beach just north of the boat launch for a short Tri-Spirit Release Ceremony. A small portion of cremains will be launched to the Sea; the remaining portions will be retained by the family for Life-Gem purposes down the road. Then at 9:00 pm join the Family as they Sing and Rejoice for the spirit of their loved ones at Karaoke in the Firewater Lounge at Cherie Heights. Everyone is welcome to participate. He is also survived by granddaughters: Stephanie Tabor and Valerie Boucher and her husband Michael all from Battleground, WA as well as grandsons: Justin Saffell from McKinleyville and Alex, Chris and Nick Doyle from Campbell, CA and two great-grandsons: Dominic and Logan Boucher. Additional loved ones include his adopted step-siblings: Linda Rea Erickson from Vancouver, WA and Venessa Malbeck from Oregon and one step daughter-in-law Cyndi Saffell from Mauston, WI and one step son-in-law James Stockham of Fortuna, CA and many extended family members. Trinidad bay brought the family here in 1971. I first walked the pier with my grandpa Alex at that time. Since then I have walked it with the Hallmarks, Businnnieus, Vissers, Duncans, Figgarowas, Laras, Moorheads and every boat captain who fished for the Golden Guppie when I worked there.
