Obituary: under the direction of Beardsley-Mitchell , San Diego, CA. Anne left this world peacefully on , 14, surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, brother, and her three closest girlfriends, having reached the end of a two year struggle against cancer and the resulting complications. Anne waged her battle with courage, dignity and good humor, and bravely chose to say good bye when she concluded that she had run out of fight. Anne was born as Anne Marie Uhas in Los Angeles on 30, 1957, the first daughter of Thomas R. and Elizabeth P. Uhas, who had moved to the LA suburb of Whittier in 1952 via Detroit, MI, and San Antonio, TX. Anne was the third of the five children that comprised the Uhas clan, and with her siblings attended parochial grammar school in the Whittier area. Upon graduation from Lowell High School of La Habra in 1975, Anne attended Cypress Community where she received an AA degree. Anne began her long career with the phone company in Huntington Beach and moved to San Diego in the early 80's. There she continued to work as a phone company employee with AT&T, where she progressed from operator to service representative, and took great pleasure over the last several years by mentoring younger workers by using her knowledge and acquired work skills. In the years preceding 2013, Anne lived in the Ocean Beach area until she and her husband Harry decided to buy a motorhome that was large enough to live in full time, as well as use for vacation trips around both California and Mexico. Anne loved going to Mexico and spent many years meeting for a annual 'girls gathering' in Cabo San Lucas, as well as many visits to a variety of vacation spots in upper Baja such as Rosarita Beach and Rancho Packard. meeting Harry she began to enjoy his passion for salt water fishing, which led to a number of memorable visits to Mulege, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez, where they would fish from his boat. Here in San Diego, they enjoyed lobstering and fishing. All of Anne's family and acquaintances knew that Anne really didn't like being called 'Anne Marie' , so her husband threatened to name his boat with that moniker. Anne's love of flowers, most especially daffodils and everything colorful are well known to her friends and family. Anne had boundless enthusiasm for just about everything that involved the beach or ocean which started as a child at Huntington Beach and continued unabated in San Diego and Mexico. She sold daffodils over a period of years for the American Cancer Society, as well as donating to various charitable organizations, including The Susan G. Komen Foundation and Movember. Everyone who was involved in Annes' life loved her sunny disposition and 'can do' attitude and will sorely miss her great smile, quick wit and gregarious, giving nature. Anne is survived by her husband Harry Stamp, of San Diego, CA, who all will agree was the love of her life; her daughter from a previous marriage, Stephanie May, also from San Diego, with whom she shared a powerful and loving bond; her older brother, Ken Yuhasz, of Spokane, WA, who watched her grow from a happy baby to the woman who, next to his wife, was his "All Time Doll"; sister-in-law, Patt Earley, Ken's wife, who forged a close, sisterly frienship with Anne. Her closest friends, mentioned above, all from San Diego: Donna Cox, who met Anne in the first grade and with whom Anne joined in San Diego shortly after moving here in 1982; Wendy Ricker, who once joined Anne for a lunch in Baja that turned into a weekend; and Pam Collins, with whom Anne formed a strong relationship that only improved with their children's friendship. These ladies were all terrific friends to Anne, and spent the last thirty-odd years supporting her in all the important ways; when things were going well, but most importantly when the opposite was true; from relationship problems to child-rearing adventures, these strong women helped Anne stay sane and happy and she was very lucky to have shared their unwavering friendship. She would want all whose lives she touched, and by whom she was touched, to: Live well. Laugh often. Love much. Anne was preceded in death by her younger brother Larry, her father and mother, her older brother Daniel, and her younger sister Mary. There will be a celebration of Annes' life on , the 22nd of , from 4 to 7 pm at De Anza Cove Park, 3000 N. Mission Bay Drive, San Diego 92109. The family wishes for any charitable donations be made in Annes' name to The American Cancer Society or The Susan G. Komen Foundation. |
