Obituary: Connie M. Sanchez was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of stick to it attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility. Connie was born on 9, 1936 at on her parents farm in Gregory, TX. She was the daughter of Anita Trevino-Martinez and Eluterio Perez Martinez. Connie grew up in Gregory, TX. Connie was raised with 8 siblings. She had 5 brothers, Trenidad, Enrique, Esequiel, , Eluterio and Antonio and 3 sisters, Juanita, Anita and Maria. Connie was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years. As a young girl, Connie had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Connie was an active child who took part in baseball and volleyball. She loved to exercise. She was a bible school. In her spare time she loved bible school, flying kites, playing jacks and dressing up her dolls. However, to Connie, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends. A typical teenager, Connie had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Gregory High School in 1953. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was all her classes. She tried to learn all that she was taught because she knew she would need it later on in life. She liked all of her teachers. Always considered a good friend to those she knew, Connie enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, some of her best friends were lots of different girls that were like her sisters. Romeo Montelongo Sanchez Connie exchanged wedding vows with Romeo Montelongo Sanchez at Santa Rosa Catholic Church of Santa Rosa. Empathic and loyal, Connie was committed to making her new family happy. Connie worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Connie was blessed with 6 children, 3 sons, Eluterio, Romeo and Mario and 3 daughters, Elida, Dolores and Delia. Another blessing for Connie was the gift of 14 grandchildren, Brent, Tracie, Delinda, Valerie, Babe, A. J., Malerie, Niko, Jewel, Shaleen, Shika, Mario Jr., Shantal and Benjiman. Fortunately, Connie enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Connie worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was as bookkeeper at Hubbs. She was employed for over 25 years. Connie always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Connie enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuit was dancing. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others. Connie found pleasure in sports. Connie was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were golf and football. Connies faith was important to her. She was a member of Santa Rosa De lima Catholic Church all her life. Connie enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations were anywhere her children and grandchildren were. Connie was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Growing up on a farm was a dog named Fido, while raising her children her favorite dog was a St. Bernard named Cindy. were best friends. She had Cindy for 10 years. When Connies retirement finally arrived in She retired at the age of 62, she was well prepared. She retired in Pecos, Texas. In retirement, she found new pleasure in attending church. Even in retirement, Connie continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Connie was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her. Connie passed away on 21, 2010 at In Rialto California at her Youngest Daughters home. She fought a brave battle against cancer until the day she passed. She is survived by her children Luther, Romeo, Mario, Elida, Dolores and Delia all her grandchildren and sister Anita. Services were held at St. Catherine Of Siena Catholic Church. Simply stated, Connie was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Connie leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Connie M. Sanchez. |
