Obituary: Debbie Sutton Madison for Debbie Sutton, 59, of Madison will be today, 31, 2011, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Decatur, in Stephenson Chapel with Dr. Lex Bowen and the Rev. Roger Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be today at 12:30 p.m. until time of service in the chapel. Mrs. Sutton, who died , 28, 2011, in Jackson, Tenn., was born 2, 1951, in Little Rock, Ark. to the late Rev. Cooper Marshall and Margaret Marshall. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, graduate of Carson-Newman and former high school English teacher. She had a passion for teaching music to children and church drama. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, David Sutton; two sons, Marshall and Michael Sutton; one daughter, Amanda Davis; mother, Margaret Marshall; two sisters, Elaine Raulerson and Cynthia Marshall; grandson, Cooper Sutton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Hagen, Marvin Eaton, Larry Mauldin, Ralph Hamn, Bill Hutson and Jim Denton. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Carson-Newman Acappella Choir or the National Kidney Foundation . |

Obituary: SUTTON, CHARLES C. Charles C. Sutton, age 86, went peacefully to be with the Lord on , 23, 2011. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, afternoon, Feb 27, 2011, with a Christian memorial service following at 2:00pm at Ridouts Valley Chapel on Oxmoor Rd in wood. Internment at Elmwood will immediately follow the memorial service. Charles was born in Ennis, Texas, and was raised on a West Texas cotton farm. He is survived by Jeanne, his beloved wife of 66 years, Jeanne, and his two sons, Robert and Kenneth, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He served as a Navy Chief in WWII and fought in the South Pacific sea campaign in the Solomon Islands, including duty on the island of Guadalcanal. Charles and Jeanne have lived in the wood Community since 1955. Charles was a long time member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Charles served the Dawson community as an usher for over 35 years. Charles served on the wood City Council for over 32 years, since 1965 which included 3 years as Council President. Until his retirement, Charles was the owner/operator of American Termite and Pest Control. He was an upstanding member of the wood community and has left a legacy of achievement, where his dedicated service as a community leader helped resulted in many lasting achievements, including one of the finest school systems in the State of Alabama, Brookwood Medical , the development of Wildwood Shopping area, and West wood Park. Additionally, in 1973, while on the city council, Charles successfully fought to bring emergency medical services to the City of wood. Charles served for years as an active member of the wood Lions Club and was past president. Charles recent years of illness have kept him homebound, but those many friends whom he had made through the years, as well as his family, will never forget his good heart, his sound judgment and his determination to be a good husband, a good father, grandfather and a good citizen to his neighbors. And at the center, his faith in Our Lord, to whom we, his family, commend his spirit. under the direction of Ridouts Valley Chapel, wood, AL. |
