Obituary: Jesse Cooper Stinson , Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Aug. 11, 2017 following a short illness. He was originally from Georgiana AL. He graduated from Troy University with a degree in Education and served in the Army Reserves as well as active duty in the Korean War with the rank of Captain. He worked tirelessly as an advocate for the mentally ill through programs at South Highland Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. He founded programs there such as the Club, The Sharing Group and SHOP. He was a 32nd Degree Mason at Metro East Lodge # 928 in Birmingham, AL. Jesse is survived by 2 sons, Jesse Cooper Stinson III (Melissa), Charles Franklin Stinson, and daughter Sally Orliene Stinson. He has 2 grandchildren, Luke Roberts Stinson (Shawna) and Bethany Rebeca Rusnak (Logan) as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Trager Roberts Stinson and Ryder Lane Stinson. His loving family pets, Fred, Penny, Pablo and Gertie. Visitation for Jesse will take place on 16, 2017 from 10-11am at South Highland Presbyterian Church to be followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with graveside at 2:45 PM at Alabama National in Montevalo. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be given to South Highland Presbyterian Church 2035 Highland Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35255 to support Jesse's ministry for people with mental illness. |

Obituary: Memorial service for Mr. Gordon Gordy Stinson, 62 of Jacksonville, will be 11:00 am, , 28, 2015 at Chapel Hill with Rev. Randy Postell. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until service time. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Stinson; daughter, Misty Grubb (Brett); granddaughters, Maddie Grubb and Maizie Grubb; sister, Debbie Pence (Steve); brother, Jimmy Stinson (Roxanne); sister-in-law, Becky Wharam; brother-in-law, Junior Wharam; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Stinson is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Stinson; mother, Maureen Gordon Stinson; and step-mother, Evelyn Borne Stinson. Obituary: for Elaine Stinson, 75 of Decatur will be , 2, 2015 at noon at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Gary Formby officiating with Roselawn directing. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 at the church. Mrs. Stinson who died , 29, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital, was born 14, 1940 in Falkville, Al., to Austin and Watha Couch. In 1957 she graduated from High School after receiving many writing honors for speeches, poetry, and essays. She married her high school sweetheart and soon started her family of three daughters. She was very involved in her church as a School teacher, Women's Circle Leader, Stewardship Committee, Church Council, pictorial chairman and various other committees. Her family was her pride and joy and she spent her entire life teaching and living Christian values and principles. She was a role model for friends and her family of how to live the Christian Life. Elaine is survived by one brother, Winfred Couch from Virginia. Three daughters: Cindy Whitley (David), Tina Wofford (Curtis) and Lane Burns (Mike). "Mummer" adored her six grandchildren, Alyson and Tyler Whitley of Atlanta, Austin and Elizabeth Wofford and Link and Tanner Burns of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Lowell Stinson. Pallbearers will be son in laws and grandsons. |
