Mr. Slaton is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shirley Blythe Slaton of Piedmont; three children, Maria Blythe Henry (Josh), Randal Isaac Pierce Slaton and Harmoni Faith Slaton all of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Dixie Henry and Colton Henry both of Piedmont; several God children; his father, Bobby Joe Slaton of Fort Payne; his mother, Santa Fe Parton (Buddy) of Fort Payne; one brother, Greg Slaton (Yvonne) of Fort Payne; one step-sister, Michelle Parton Davis (Matt) of Altoona; two step-brothers, Mike Parton (Paula) of Gadsden and Mark Parton of Boaz; special niece and nephews, Natasha Slaton, Corey Slaton and Brian Taylor; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Slaton was born in Hammond, Indiana and had lived in Piedmont for the past 13 years. He loved to study the Bible and sing praise and worship music. Spending time with his family and friends was very important to him, especially with his children. He enjoyed riding on the Chief Ladiga Trail, nature, gardening and flowers. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, , and by a special grandmother, Ruby Slaton. |

Lottie, as she was affectionately called, was born 22, 1936 in München, Germany to the late Joseph and Johanna Krenn. She was a loyal and faithful employee of CF Flag and retired after over 30 years of service. Mrs. Slaton was a very sweet and loving woman. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Slaton. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Angela Slaton; one son, Charles Slaton; three grandchildren, Van Sitton, Kelly Sitton Walling and Niklaus Slaton; six great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-great-granddaughters; and three loving doggies, Marco, Saban and Tuxedo. Obituary: John Wesley Slaton, 88, of Decatur, died 21, 2015. A gathering of friends will be on from 10 a.m. from 11 a.m. A celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn . Rev. Dale Dilbeck is officiating. Mr. Slaton was preceded in death by his parents, James Newton Slaton, and Sally Maude Etheridge Slaton; sisters, Bea Lovell, Bobbie McNutt, Christine Lewis, and Faye Evans; brothers, Jimmy Slaton, and Alton Slaton. He is survived by his son, Donald Slaton(Janice) and daughter Angela Slaton. Mr. Slaton was retired from Ingalls Shipyard as a welder and a pipefitter, loved fishing, and was a member the Church of God of Prophecy. He also taught School for over 20 years. Pallbearers include Darvin Waugh, Jordan McNutt, Dale and Tim Slaton, Bo Voss, Buddy Lewis, and Shane Evans. Roselawn is assisting the family. |
