Obituary: Richard J. Sokel, Sr., age 88, passed away on 16, 2015. Born on 17, 1926 to Joseph and Marie (Budweiser) Sokel, he was the eldest of 7 children. On 22, 1953 he married Maureen Elizabeth Schommer and raised 5 Children. He was a proud Veteran of World War II and retired from the George Banta Co. after 36 years. He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards and was a gracious host of many parties in his back yard over the years. Later in life, he was employed by the City of Menasha as a crossing guard on the corner of Third Street and Tayco, where he worked until his illness. He truly enjoyed talking with the children he helped cross the intersection on their way to school. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Corky, sons, Corry (Elizabeth), Richard, Jr. (Mary), Timothy (Judy) and Harry (Fiancée Annie), daughter, Barbara Fitzpatrick, along with 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Joyce Kolasinski, brother-in-law, Donald (Alice) Schommer, sisters-in-law; Marlene, Leah and Marion, also, many nieces and nephews and special friend Ann Sokel. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Robert, Hillard, Joseph Jr. and John; his sister, Irene Montonati, brothers-in-law; David Kolasinski and Ralph Montonati, sisters-in-law; Susan Sokel, Erin (Harold) Anklam, Marjorie (Melvin) Gottfried, Patricia (James) Webb, Dawn (Robert) Pawlowski and a great grandson Noah Corry Sokel. As per our Fathers wishes there will be no service! Please remember him in your prayers! The Family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Hospice, specifically nurses; Melissa, Tabitha, Lauren and Kelly for their compassionate care. Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I and you are still you, and the old life we lived so fondly together remains unchanged. Whatever we were to one another we are still. Call me by my name for I am listening. Speak to me as you always have. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we shared together. Play, smile, think of me and pray for me. Let my name be ever spoken in households as it always was. Why should I be out of mind because Im out of sight? Obituary: Robert Bob Benny Sojka, age 80, of Appleton, passed away on 16, 2016. He was born on 16, 1935 to the late Benjamin and Amelia (Terpkosh) Sojka in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bob graduated from Cedar Rapids Wilson High School in 1954 and then joined the National Guard. He served from 1954 until 1960. Bob married Joyce on 20, 1973 in San Jose, California. their marriage they relocated to Iowa where they owned and operated Valley Lanes Bowling Alley for 9 years. Bob was a passionate bowler and played on many leagues and tournaments. He was very proud of his 300 game. In 1986 they moved to Wisconsin where Bob was employed at Lawrence University as a custodian and also bartended. Being the outgoing and full of life person, Bob was he truly enjoyed bartending and continued to do that after retirement in Bella Vista, Arkansas where he and Joyce resided for 9 years. He enjoyed golfing and also fishing with his good friend Chuck. Bob also took great pride in his garden, but his greatest passion was sports and his love for the Iowa Hawkeyes was overwhelming. Bob and Joyces final place to call home was back in Wisconsin to enjoy the rest of their retirement. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years; his seven children: Roger Sojka, Diana Lynn Divine (Sojka), Rocke Sojka, Brenda McAfee (Sojka), Susan (Bob) Webb, Steve Spehar, and Kelly (DeWelt) Squair; fourteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Bob is further survived by his sister: Karolyn (Ralph) Sedlacek; an aunt: Charlene Sojka; a sister-in-law: Carol Reed, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He also leaves behind special friends Chuck and Dee Desten, Dale and Mary Scribner, and Cloyd and Shirlene Robinson. The funeral service for Bob will be held on , 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on , 23, 2016 starting at 4:00 PM until the prayer service at 8:00 PM, and will continue on starting at 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Debra Dee Sim will be officiating. Interment will be held at Riverside in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bobs name.
