Obituary: Fleta Sconyers was born in Stella, Missouri on 7, 1925 to Lloyd and Ruth Rowe. She attended business college and worked in a bank. She met her husband, Jack, at Camp Crowder in Missouri at a USO dance. courted by mail and later married in Lakeland, Florida in 1947. moved to Montgomery, Alabama where they raised four children and volunteered at Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Children's activities. Jack's job at Southern Bell brought them to wood in 1962. Fleta worked as a bookkeeper for the Lyon's Club Eye Bank and retired from Alabama Sight. She was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Her involvements there include the Dawsonaires Senior Choir, the Pioneer Club and School. Fleta loved cross-stitch. In her later years, she lovingly looked after her husband during his last years. She lived her last 3 years at Mount Royal Towers, where she was well cared for. Fleta was a loving mother of 4, grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 5. Mrs. Sconyers is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bennett Sconyers; her parents, Lloyd and Ruth Rowe; and her brother, Nolan Rowe (Marilyn Cooper). She is survived by daughters, Janice Shannon (Sam), Sharon Bamberg (Robert) and Gaye Shields (Pete); a son, Gary Sconyers (Susan); grandchildren, Mark Shannon (DeAnn), Kirk Shannon (Ashly), Bart Bamberg (Shannon), Sarah Bamberg, Lisa Bamberg, Joseph Bamberg, Katie Shields, Kelly Shields and Lynsey Sconyers; great grandchildren, Noah Shannon, Rachel Shannon, Caleb Shannon, Sarah Shannon and James Bamberg. The funeral service for Mrs. Sconyers will be at 11:00 am on , 22, 2014 at Southern Heritage . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. under the direction of Southern Heritage , Pelham, AL. |

She was a retired teacher from the Clarke and Washington School Systems. Mrs. Scoggins was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Survivors: Frank's loving wife of 36 years, Donna Scoggins; two sons, David and Matthew Scoggins; granddaughter, Kylie Scoggins, also known as Paw Paw's girl; mother, Mary Frances Scoggins; brother, Ben Scoggins, and sister-in-law, Patti Scoggins; brother, Chris Scoggins, and sister-in-law Cathy Scoggins; sister-in-law, Cheryl Scoggins (Danny); special nieces and nephews, Brandy, Brent, Johnny, Alex, Sam, Chelsea, and Holly Scoggins; great-niece, Presley Scoggins; loyal pet and companion "puppy" who never left his side; and an entire host of family and friends. Frank was employed by Baptist System for 36 years, during which he served in the Purchasing, Materials Management, and IT departments. Frank was an avid Auburn fan who enjoyed setting up televisions outside to watch football games with his family on s. He also loved Thompson High School football and attending their games on nights. Until his health prevented him, he loved going hunting and fishing. He developed a love for video games over his lifetime, and he fell just short from reaching the top level of his favorite video game, "Battlefield." Frank was a very loving, kind, compassionate, and extremely patient man who loved his family and friends unconditionally. His friends describe him as a man with a big heart, helpful, talented, funny, dedicated, and wonderful soul who made a lasting impression on those who knew him. One of Frank's co-workers said he "planted seeds of kindness and love" in many lives. |
