Obituary: R. Stanley Stohr (Stan) 84, longtime resident of the Yakima area Passed away on , 8th at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.. Stan was born 1, 1929 to Warren Joseph and Frances Thelma Stohr in Los Angeles, California and had returned to the Yakima Area as an Infant after the families loss of a brother at a young age while in California. Dad Was Married to Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Fuchs for Exactly 50 years to the day ..This Union resulted in 8 children being born to the couple within a 10 year period and a lot of excitement... our Mom's Passing in 2005, .....Dad Found Great comfort and happiness in a marriage to Celia Luxmore over a 6 year period of time.....Trips to Europe and several Cruises provided them with many enjoyable times right up to shortly before our father's Death Dad was very Proud of the fact that he was a 3rd Generation Bricklayer/Mason and took Great pride in the artistry of his chosen trade and it's many creative rewards..Dad was also very active in the Bricklayers Union and served as an officer for the locals for many years-eventually resulting in his being awarded a Rare 50 year membership pin that he was very proud of!........Dad had a "second" career of many years Teaching the bricklaying Trade and helping many disadvantaged young people become successful adults for the Job Corps in White Swan...He felt that this too, was a great calling in his life and he always enjoyed the success of his former Students in their on going lives Dad had a Strong Personal set of beliefs that predated their popularity and his day...He stood strong on beliefs that all men are created equal and felt that everyone should have equal opportunities to succeed in life--regardless of background....He often exhibited the fact that doing the right thing when dealing with people was morally right even when it wasn't the popular thing to do... Dad was a fervent sports fan....Especially when it came to his family and the University of Notre Dame's Participation in any sport - but especially football.....Always proud of their accomplishments ....He Loved his kids and grandkids and any team they played for or sport they competed in....Dad Raised his Family on Sports and felt that they delivered many important values in addition to the competitive nature that they helped the participant develop! Dad also was always willing to do what it took to get something accomplished....including Coaching his kids in sports he never played, if need be, to insure that the team would succeed and the kids would get to play .He was known to sacrifice most anything needed to view a sporting event....Regardless: If family was playing...Dad was going and quickly became that teams number one Fan! Dad was a True Irish Catholic in Many ways---Often saying that his gift of Gab and storytelling was a true Irish Trait ...Dad Could tell a great story and was very quick witted as well...Dad was an amateur singer and had "special" skills in the arena's of fire/terrain land management ...These capabilities allowed him to become familiar with many local Fire Station Volunteers as well in the Lower Naches area while practicing his form of weed control over many years!......Dad and Mom's Eight Children were raised in the traditional Catholic way! Big House and one functional Bathroom! Dad had an internal fire and determination while remaining outwardly calm and at Peace--or loose....He was very Special to all of us and our Hearts are broken due to his departure from Earth ..Please keep our Parents and family in your prayers! Dad was born the fourth of five children. He was the last remaining member of his core family..a family he was very proud of and spoke of often..., He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Joseph and Frances Thelma Stohr, his wife of fifty years Elizabeth(Betty) Stohr (Fuchs), brothers: Father Richard Stohr, Jim Stohr, young Jim Stohr, sister Dorothy Probach., and brother-in law Bob Probach. She was born 21, 1917 in Lincoln, NE to Carl O. and Mabel Johnson. the death of her mother in 1918, her father took his seven children to a farm in Michigan. In 1927 another move was made to Wiley City, WA. Her schooling was finished there. She was married to Guy Stohler Jan 1, 1937. She was a home maker and helped with her husbands business. Helen was a member of the Stone Church and was active in School and the missionary group there. She was a Blue Bird leader and active in the school P.T.A. She loved traveling, entertaining, and spent many hours making crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Guy, daughters Donna Cornelison and Peg Eberle, 5 brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son Ed Stohler, and his wife Kim, of Selah WA; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, and many lovely nieces and nephews.
