Obituary: On 7, 2015, we lost a very special person, sister, auntie, and friend. Kathryn (Katie/Kathy) Lowell Schulz was born in Yakima, WA, on 13, 1949, to Floyd C Lowell and Evelyn Mullenneix Lowell. She attended grade school in Yakima and graduated Davis High School in 1967. There are so many personal memories of her from each sibling and family member. Dolores, being the eldest, was always carrying her around on her hip. We could write a novel on our experiences from growing up to adulthood - having our children, the good times and not so good times, but always making the most out of everything. Growing up without lifes comforts, you appreciate the good things life offers. Her brother Chuck will miss her, having lived in her home for many years, and waking her in the early morning to remind her its time for medication and companionship. Does it take a special brother and sister to live in the same house?! Katie had a disability of rheumatoid arthritis that affected her quality of live with severe pain for years. Amy, her niece, has many memories of her aunt Kathy. She was a confidant that expressed her wisdom and opinion. She worked in fruit warehouses over the years, holding many positions. She enjoyed camping, needle point and crocheting. She even entered her afghan in the fair one year and won a ribbon. She collected anything blue cobalt and lady powder boxes. When she was able, her pumpkin rolls and apple pies were done by request. We will miss her loving, caring kindness to everyone, and her sweet smile. We will all hold you close in our hearts and thoughts always with love. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Schulz, on 12/2/06; her sisters, Ruth A Davis, on 1/8/12, and JoAnn G Lowell on 10/11/04. She is survived by her sons, Shawn Schulz of Port Townsend, along with his daughters, Heather and Tracy; Brian Schulz (Allison) of Ellensburg, and his children Samantha, Evelyn, Dakota, Jonathan, and step son Joshua. Her siblings are Dolores Whittle of Wapato, Bill Hoveland (Lona) of Moses Lake, John Hoveland (Bev) of Puyallup, Charles Lowell and Edward Lowell (Lisa) of Yakima. She is also survived by special nieces, Flora Jones, of Longview; Kelly Andrews, of Clatskanie, OR; Amy Neil, of Yakima, and nephew, Charles Lowell Jr. (Stephanie) of Yakima. In addition, she has numerous nieces and nephews. Considered like a son, Joe Sutton was a good friend and neighbor. Also, are 2 special, girlhood friends (what excitement can we create now?!), Judy Kuhn and Charlotte Adams. Special thanks to each and every one who cared for Katie in the last few months. You were each tender and caring - for that we are grateful. A Memorial Service will be held on , 4, 2015 at Langevin · El Paraíso at 2 p.m. To share a memory of Katie, please visit www.lepfuneralhome.com. |

Obituary: Harold Frank Schulz 12, 1932 to 8, 2015 Harold Frank Schulz passed peacefully 8th. He is dearly loved and is survived by his wife Leona, children Katherine, Harold, and Amy and their spouses Donald Cosner, Pamela Schulz and Keith Fosmire. His legacy will continue through his 6 grandchildren Megan, Kendel, Harold, Betsy, Zachary and Emily and 7 great grandchildren. Harold Frank was born to Harold Edward and Elizabeth Sarah Schulz on 12, 1932 in Seattle. Harold grew up on the corner of Pine and Sylvan, just blocks from where he and Leona lived the last four months. He graduated from Bremerton High School and joined the Air Force where he worked in communications during the Korean War. As a result of his high test scores and skill Harold was selected to be a cryptographer responsible for sending and receiving coded messages. his four years in the service, Harold had a successful career at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for over 30 years. He started as an apprentice in the sheet metal shop. It didn take him long to work his way up through the ranks ending his career in the planning and estimating division. Harolds work ethic and determination characterized this strong and loving father, grandfather, and husband. His childhood is best described as adventurous! Harold, an only child found a deep friendship with his dog Trey. would roam the local woods in search of treasures. An avid fisherman from a very young age...Harold had a dream of catching the Big One. He saw that dream fulfilled many times over the years as he grew into a young man. The time spent and his love for the outdoors would stay with him for his entire life. Harold met his wife Leona at a very young age. Harolds family would often visit the Elwanger farm in Bellevue where Harold and Leona would play together. It wasn until Harold was in the Air Force that he saw Leona as the beautiful lady of his dreams. He started writing Leona letters and, lucky for him, she wrote back. Before long Harold proposed and they were planning their future together. Leona saw Harold as a man of integrity, he was committed, a dependable hard worker, loving and the man for her! It didn hurt that he could also provide indoor plumbing. married and spent their first months together in Sacramento California while he finished his time in the Air Force. Harold and Leona returned to Bremerton where they have made their home for the last 59 years. Before long Harold and Leona had 3 children: Katherine, Harold Jr and Amy. As a father he loved his kids. He loved taking his kids fishing in Hood Canal and in the straights. Family basketball..a quick game of Horse, was always a highlight. He insisted that each of his kids must learn how to walk on Stilts; whether they wanted to or not! In the evening he would challenge his kids to ping pong with the losers having to do dishes. Harold loved his garden and he loved having Katherine, Harold, and Amy work beside him...weeding was not an option! He encouraged his kids to work hard and to be people of integrity. Harold loved to tell his kids that he was still Molding and Shaping them, and he did a great job of that. As a grandfather to Megan, Kendel, Harold, Betsy Jo, Zachary, and Emily he showed his love in everything that he did. He loved wood working and he made doll beds, tool boxes, push toys and you can still see the care and craftsmanship in the things that he made. He chaperoned field trips with Megan and Kendel while they were in grade school and he made many trips to watch Harold, Betsy, Zachary and Emily play sports. He was always inviting the grandkids into his garage to see his latest project or to hear him explain how a tool worked. His example of love and molding and shaping continued through the grandkids...and then the great grandchildren came along. Seven great grandchildren under 3 years of age...all coming to visit at the same time makes for an exciting day. He loved sitting back and watching Hannah, Harold, Sarah, Harrison, Jacob, Sophia and Emma play and interact with each other. Harold enjoyed life, family and friends. He is a loving example to all of us. His lifetime of dedication and self-sacrifice is a tribute to this man. His integrity, and hard work continues to inspire those who knew him. Grandpa we will miss you. |
