Obituary: Ruby Mae Sader Ruby Sader died peacefully of natural causes in on May 5th, 2017 surrounded by her family. Ruby was born on 26th, 1926 in Antlers Oklahoma. She was 91 years old. Ruby Mae Jobe spent her childhood years in Oklahoma, but moved to California as a young adult. It was during World War II and Ruby wanted to be of service to her country. She found work as a receptionist for an officer at Gardner Army Air Field, in Taft California. It was there that she met her future husband, Don Sader, who was serving in the Army Air Corps as an M.P. Don & Ruby put down roots in Pacific Washington, bought a home and had 6 children. During those years, Ruby was very busy raising her children, but still found time to volunteer in her community. Times were tight, but Ruby was very resourceful. She cooked, baked, sewed, and learned how to preserve most of the fruits and vegetables that her husband Don raised in the garden. She became famous for her amazing canned goods. People still talk about her pickles! In addition to raising her kids, she found work at various businesses in the area. She was a valued employee at Miles Sand & Gravel and Fisher Drugs. she retired, Ruby pursued a career as a restaurant owner in Auburn. For several years she ran The Henhouse in the Auburn Antique Mall, where she shared her amazing recipes and southern hospitality with a grateful (and hungry) community. In her later years, Ruby became an avid sports fan. She especially loved the Sonics and the Mariners. In 1999 when Safeco Field opened, Ruby was one of the first hires. She held a position as a Suite Host and loved it. She got to know many of the Suite owners and they loved her too. During her time at Safeco Field, she had the opportunity to get to know some of the Mariners. Edgar Martinez was her favorite player. He was very kind to Ruby. Edgar even spent time with her when he had the chance. She made lasting friendships and had many great memories from her time at Safeco. Her kids and grandkids do as well. She retired from the Mariners in 2011 at the age of 85. In her later years, she remained active. Ruby served as a volunteer with local Catholic charities & services. Even though she enjoyed working outside the home, she was most proud of her 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and had many memorable road trips with her family and her good friend Linda Fisher. Rubys husband Don preceded her in death. Ruby is survived by daughters Jennell Sader, Terie Kane, Luann Hoover and sons Tom, Don and David. Ruby has 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing from 10am to 11am, then a rosary at 11:30 on May 23rd at the Price-Helton in Auburn, followed by a funeral service at noon at Holy Family Church in Auburn. There will be a reception after the service in the church hall. |
