Obituary: STRAWDERMAN, Bonnie Mae, of Midlothian, Va. (1924-2015) died peacefully on 10 surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of E. Sidney Strawderman, who predeceased her in 2007; mother of Sydney Allen (Jane Renger) of Midlothian, Randy Lee of Midlothian, and Dennis Wayne (Patricia Goodall) of Midlothian; and grandmother of Monica Leigh Strawderman (Holly Odum) of Richmond, Dennis Patrick Strawderman (Lila Hussain) of Seattle, and Mary Margaret Strawderman (Aaron Pollock) of Henrico. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Russell Harrison Holsinger and Lula Ann Commer, and by her siblings, Cecil Harrison Holsinger, Pasco Jefferson Holsinger, and Rita Virginia Bell Holsinger. Bonnie was born in Broadway, Va. where she was living when she met the love of her life, E. Sidney Strawderman. When the couple moved to Goochland, Bonnie juggled an active family life with three boys while attending Richmond Polytechnic Institute and Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned a masters degree in education and was a classroom teacher at Cardwell Elementary School before becoming Principal of education at the Virginia Womens Farm in Goochland. Bonnie lived a full and productive life filled with church activities, hobbies such as square and round dancing, painting, writing (she wrote her autobiography, My Life to Remember at the age of 85), and traveling with her husband. However, her main joy in life was always her family and she loved hosting large holiday gatherings, which often featured her famous chocolate pecan pie and pound cake. The family will hold a private graveside service on , 16.
