His son Raymond Wade Staton of Greene . He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren James Staton (Alex), Timothy Staton, George Harmon jr, and William Harmon. His sisters Wendy Staton of buckingham and Cynthia Bhagwandin of Wallops Island. His brother Gary Staton of Buckingham. His niece and newphew. His significant other Robin Seal. He also left behind some very special friends Scott and Shelby Johnson and Garland Seal and many more. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. Obituary: Friend Myers Staton, Jr., of Madison Heights passed away , 20, 2015 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Shirley Coleman Staton. Born in Amherst , 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Friend M. Staton, Sr. and Nellie Tomlin Staton. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Staton and two sons, Danny Staton and Michael Staton. He is survived by one son, Curtis Staton of Bedford; two step daughters, Wanda McCormick of Buena Vista and Rose Harper of Louisiana; one step son, James Crist of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and his friend, Nancy Schmitt. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. , 25, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. John Sines, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church . The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. , 24, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the ARC of Central Virginia or to the Wounded Warriors Project, www.woundedwarriorsproject.org. |

Obituary: Ben Leeroy Staton, 84, of Waynesboro, died , 13, 2014 at a local hospital. Born 4, 1930 in Albemarle , he was the son of the late James and Annie Wood Staton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Staton and Brenda Jacobs, and eleven siblings. Ben is survived by his wife Juanita Morris Staton; two daughters, Barbara Proffitt and Cheryl Sipe; one son, Ben Franklin Staton; one sister, Neva Morris; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. , 18, 2014 at the Teague Chapel. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at Teague . |
