Obituary: Gloria Fay Stanford, 88, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on , 19, 2017, with her family by her side. She was a native of Newport News, VA and retired from Riverside Regional Hospital. She was a resident of Mathews, VA. Fay was born 26, 1929 in Newport News to Carrie (nee Savedge) & Herbert Councill. She is preceded in death by her brother Milton Councill and two grandsons, Keith Stringfellow & Christopher Stanford. She is survived by her three sons; William Stanford, Steven Stanford (Susan), Brian Stanford; her seven grandchildren Terri Johnson, Melissa Allen, Rebecca Stanford, Maranda Shackelford, Carrie McDaniels (Gabriel), Hannah Stanford, and Isabella Stanford. Her six great-grandchildren that include Killian McDaniels & Selena Shackelford. Also left to cherish her memory a host of nieces, a nephew and a loving sister-in-law Jean Councill. She was loved and will be greatly missed. Foster-Faulkner , Mathews, VA is serving the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the American Cancer Society. |

Obituary: Lesly Denise Cauthorn Stanfield, 53, of Ashland, passed away on 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, John Leslie Cauthorn; and paternal grandparents, Howard and Etta Cauthorn. She is survived by her husband, Clyde A. Stanfield Tony; her mother, Gay L. Cauthorn; son, William B. Carneal III; three grandchildren, Tara Grace Carneal, Emma Faith Carneal and Liam Patrick Carneal; sister, Debra C. Goodman (David); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, great-nieces and nephews. Lesly was a member of Forest Grove United Methodist Church. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and worked for Patrick Buick GMC as a receptionist. Lesly was an avid animal lover. She went to live with Jesus after a year illness. Many thanks to family and friends and the doctors and staff at Bon Secours St. Marys for all of their compassionate care. The family will receive friends , 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen , Reid Chapel, 412 S. Obituary: Helen Ann (née Schneider) Stanek of South Riding, VA, formerly of Clifton, New Jersey died on , 16, 2016. She was 95. She was born on 8, 1920, at her grandmother Anna Sapetas home on Edwin Street in Chrome (Carteret), New Jersey to Caroline (née Sapeta) and Benjamin Theodore Schneider. She initially lived at 173 Highland Avenue in Passaic but then moved 49 Trimble Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey. She graduated from Clifton High School in of 1938. graduating she promptly went to work as a legal secretary. On 15, 1941, she married Michael Stanley Stanek at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, in Passaic, NJ. Following the wedding they had a wonderful reception at the Ritz Ballroom in Passaic, honeymooned in Washington, DC, and then took up residence in Helens childhood two-family home on Trimble Avenue. In 1946, after Mike returned from serving overseas in the Army during WWII they were able to begin their life together again. On 25, 1947, Helen gave birth to their one beloved daughter, Jean Arlene at St. Marys Hospital in Passaic, NJ. Once Jean was 13 months old, Helen returned to work. She had a long professional career with various positions ranging from legal secretary, to textile manufacturing worker, and then returning to the role of secretary at Kearfott and ultimately executive secretary at Hoffmann-La Roche until she retired in 1985. A kind, generous, and social soul, Helen enjoyed spending time with family, reading on her Kindle, saying her daily prayers, and doing Word Search puzzles with her great-grandson Evan or playing UNO with her great-grandson Ryan. When she relocated to Virginia to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 2009 Helen began regularly attended the Dulles South Senior in South Riding. There she enjoyed socializing with new friends, traveling to the casino, and volunteering at the reception desk and as a seated yoga instructor into her 90s! She will be greatly missed by both her family and friends. Helen is survived by her daughter, Jean Arlene LoCascio, son-in-law Joseph C. LoCascio, granddaughter Jennifer LoCascio Gauvreau, grandson-in-law Daniel Robert Gauvreau and 2 great-grandsons Evan Joseph Gauvreau and Ryan Daniel Gauvreau. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike, and her two brothers, John Theodore Schneider and Benjamin Schneider, Jr. The funeral mass will be held at 11:30 am on , 19, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Clifton, NJ and an internment at Calvary in Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. |
