Obituary: Henry Eugene Sorrells, 83, of 60 Mine Branch Road died at 9:04 PM , 16, 2014 at a . He was born May 17, 1931 in a , a son of the late Edgar Eugene and Lucille Conner Sorrells. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War He retired as a bus driver for the a Public School System and was a member of Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Howard and two brothers; James K. and Kenneth Sorrells. On 12, 1957 he married the former Margaret Louise Plecker who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children; Linda Smith and husband James of Crimora, Joyce Anderson and husband Warren of South Carolina, Larry Sorrells and wife Leigh Anne of Staunton, a sister, Mary Harvey of Raphine, a brother, John Sorrells of Staunton, seven grandchildren; Joshua Lenker, Hannah Crawford, Jacob Lenker, Joseph Lenker, Emma Sorrells, Maggie Sorrells, Jacob Sorrells, one step-grandson, Robbie Smith and three great-grandchildren; Charles Crawford, Cadence Lenker and Kooper Smith. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM , 20, 2014 at Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren by Pastor Galen Combs. Burial will follow in a Memorial Park with military rites provided by American Legion Post 340. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Lenker, Jacob Lenker, Joseph Lenker, Robbie Smith, Bobby Robinson and Keith Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren. Obituary: Edward MacArthur Mac Sorrells, 73, of Stuarts Draft passed away , 07, 2016. He was born in Rockbridge on 17, 1942, a son of the late Herbert Carson and Martha Roxie Sorrells. Mac served his country in the United States Army. He was a truck driver until his retirement from Con-Way Southern Express Trucking. Mac was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He had a giving heart, which he put towards his work in the churchs food pantry. Mac was an avid sports fan and especially loved playing golf and watching his grandchildren play ball. He had a great sense of humor and always had a quick answer to any question. Most of all he truly loved spending time with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Patricia W. Sorrells; daughter, Christy Dameron; son, Jason Sorrells; five grandchildren, Zachary and C.J. Dameron, Dylon, Logan, and Olivia Sorrells all of Stuarts Draft; step granddaughter, Chelsea Brown; two step great granddaughters, Willow Garrett and Naomi Taylor; three brothers, Raymond Sorrells and his wife, Ruth, Robert Sorrells and his wife, Maxine, and Walter Sorrells and his wife, Joyce all of Buena Vista; two sisters, Mary Clark of Buena Vista and Nancy Nelson and her husband, John of Scottsburg; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Obituary: Marian Mae McNaught Sorrell, 90, of Highland Springs, Va., died on 19, 2015, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born May 19, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa, the youngest child of Ethel and Samuel McNaught. Her father was a minister in the temperance movement and instilled high ethics and moral values in Marian that lasted her lifetime. Marian spent her early childhood in Iowa eventually moving with her family to Ohio, where she graduated from Sunbury High School in 1942 as Valedictorian of her class. Marian graduated from Otterbein in Westerville, Ohio in 1946. In her senior year of college, she met her future husband, James Gilmer "Gilly" Sorrell, who survives her. Marian and Gilly Sorrell were married on 8, 1947 in her hometown of Condit, Ohio. Marian later earned her teaching credentials from the University of Richmond and completed her education when she received her master's degree in English education from the of William & Mary in 1974. Marian and Gilly were long-time residents of Highland Springs moving there in 1947. Marian was an English teacher at Highland Springs High School, serving as the English Department Chair for most of her tenure ( 1958-1989). She loved teaching senior English literature and enjoyed the arts, and participated in many plays and musicals. She often took her students to the theater to broaden their appreciation of the arts. Marian loved to go on summer excursions with the MathScience Innovation and the of William & Mary and her church. She traveled to all 50 states and was a world traveler with adventures to Africa, Australia, South America and the Galapagos Islands among others. Marian was also an avid reader and the love of a good book was her passion. Marian was an active member of New Bridge Baptist Church. She leaves behind her son, Victor Sorrell; and daughter, Karen Sorrell. She had three grandchildren, Angelia "Buni" Neighbors (Daniel), Andy Sorrell (Kristen) and Brad Sorrell; great-grandchildren, Nick and Arden Neighbors and Jack Sorrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sister, Ester McNaught Wolfe and Lucine McNaught McCall. The family will receive friends on , 8, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m., with a celebration of life service following at 4 p.m. at the Atlee Chapel, Woody , 9271 Shady Grove Rd.
