Obituary: Ella Ruth Snoddy, 91, of New Canton, VA passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter on , 10, 2015. She was born 1, 1924 in Fries, VA, the daughter of the late Ernest William and Nancy Landreth Shupe. She was the widow of Bez Weston Snoddy, Jr. She loved God and nature and family, finding beauty in everyday life. She served her country as a systems analyst for the National Security Agency for 30 years. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fairchild and husband, Chuck; two granddaughters, Erin Fairchild-Whitehouse and husband, Shawn, and Cecelia Fairchild; two sisters, Nell Hammond and Eva Vaughan, both of Fries: a brother, Curtis Shupe of Fries; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family offers a special thanks to the Hospice of the Piedmont for their care and service. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on , 14, 2015 at Welcome Wesleyan Church, 26565 N. James Madison Hwy, New Canton, VA with Pastor Reed T. Goe officiating. Interment will be held at National Memorial Park/King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA at a later date. The family will receive friends on , 13th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Dunkum , Dillwyn. Obituary: Ruth Irene Hippenstiel Snipes, 92, died 12, 2014 at Mennowood Retirement Community. She was born 20, 1922 in Charleston, SC to the late Vernon Warren and Magdelena Stucke Hippenstiel. Ruth graduated from Murray Vocational School and in 1943 married Jimmie G. Snipes. She worked as a bookkeeper for Elmore Pate many years before retiring and moving to Rockville, SC. She also lived in Inglis Fl. and Newport News VA, after leaving the farm at Rockville. Ruth was a devout Christian and loved bible class and praise and prayers at Mennowood. In her earlier years she loved reading, baking, gardening, and making sassafras tea. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be truly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by Jimmie G. Snipes her husband of 65 years, son-in-law Gary Harrington; sisters, Myrtle Shearer, Marguerite Cape, and Carolyn Helgert; brothers Aaron, Vernon, and Eugene (Buddy) Hippenstiel, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Irene Poole, Marie Harrington, and Phyllis Morris; sons-in-law Dan Poole, and Jim Morris; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many close friends who became family. Graveside services will be held on , 21, 2014 at Carolina Memorial Park at 10:00 AM.
