Obituary: Virginia Elizabeth Shiflett entered into the arms of Jesus on 10, 2017. She was born 13, 1926 to the late Lemuel and Beadie Shiflett from Mount Fair. Her husband Hobart Shiflett and an infant daughter preceeded her in death…Her two brothers Lemuel (Jack) and Melvin Shiflett and four sisters, Mary Mundy Shiflett, Lela Garrison, Lottie Wingfield and Della Garrison, also preceeded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Staton of Charlottesville; devoted friends Sandra Shumate, Mary Morris and Eileen Lavis; and a special sister-in-law Mary Vernon that she loved very much. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Virginia was a member of Browns Cove United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member and worker in the church. She loved singing. She was always friendly and loved everyone she met. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. , 14, 2017 at the Teague . Interment will follow at Prize Hill . The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. , 13, 2017 at Teague . Obituary: Susan Ruth (Croyl) Shiflett, 68, of Staunton passed away , 6, 2016 at her home. Born 14, 1948 in Somerset, PA, she was the daughter of Elton Croyl and the late Bonard Croyl. Along with her husband, Susan owned and operated The Dragons Hoard in Staunton. She loved playing games, flying rockets and seeing all of the children come in and out of the store. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Shiflett is survived by her husband, Harry Shiflett; daughter, Rebecca Shiflett of Atlanta, GA; brother, Nathaniel Croyl of Staunton; sisters, Bonnie Williams of Raleigh, NC and Holly Brooks of Staunton; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and close friends. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on , 10, 2016. If you wish to attend the service, please contact the family. Obituary: Neva Snow Shiflett, age 92, of Earlysville, VA passed away on 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Albemarle May 20, 1922, daughter of the late Guy E. Snow and Susie Gentry Snow. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Meredith E. Snow, sister, Eunice DeHooge and brother,Ray Snow. She is survived by her husband J.O. (Orvin) Shiflett, one son, J.E. (Jimmy) Shifflett and wife Betty; two daughters, Joann Anderson, and Cindy Kent and husband Wes. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffery Anderson and wife Claire, Marty Shiflett and wife Laura, Justin Kent and his wife Jamie, Catherine Ignudo and husband Angelo, Suzy Ornee and husband Chris, Stacey Schellhammer and husband Chris, Ashley Wallace, Emily Kent, and 11 1/2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Hugh D. Snow and wife Ann, and sisters-in-law, Ida Snow and Barbara Snow. Neva was a charter member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church, a member of the special ladies of JOY School Class and a member of the Silver Chords Choir. She retired from Sperry Marine after more than 30 years of service. Mom loved to read, knit, garden, cook and take care of her loving family. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. 9, 2014 at Cherry Avenue Christian Church. Her nephew Reverend Craig Snow will officiate assisted by Mr. Scott Carter and Mr. Stan Martin. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. 8, 2014 at the Teague . The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Avenue Christian Church, 1720 Cherry Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903. |
