Obituary: Allen Matthew Swan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully at home on 9, 2016. Born on 27, 1927, in Tooele, Utah, Allen was the first of three sons of Cynthia Speirs and Clifford LeRoy Swan. He enjoyed a happy childhood, attending Tooele High School, where he served as Student Body President and excelled on the basketball and football teams. Allen lived a life of service to his three loves: family, Church, and his legal profession. In 1952 Allen married Verla Mae Johnson, of Ashton, Idaho, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together for 64 years, they reared four beloved children, were members of a long-standing dinner group, spent wonderful times together at their Ashton summer home, served as companions on three missions, and have been loving grandparents to their 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. For the past several months, Verla has taken care of Allen's every need. Allen graduated with a J.D. from the University of Utah in 1953, distinguished by his service on the staff of the Utah Law Review and a clerkship for the Hon J. Allan Crockett of the Utah Supreme Court. His legal career of over 39 years included a general litigation, business, and courtroom practice. He was accomplished in both written and oral advocacy for a wide range of clients. He devoted the final 15 years of his career to the firm of Kirton McConkie, his work focusing on representation of Intermountain and the LDS Church. Allen answered with enthusiasm a lifetime of callings from the LDS Church. These opportunities included missionary service as a young man in the British Isles. Later, Allen and Verla served three missions together: President of the Australia Adelaide Mission, Director of the Los Angeles Temple Visitors' , and missionaries to the Inner City Mission in Salt Lake City. Allen served in the Stake Presidency of the Valley View Salt Lake Stake, and as Regional Representative of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in assignments covering Utah, Washington, and southern California. Later, he served as a beloved Bishop of the Valley View 8th Ward. His lifelong study of church history and doctrine served him well in many other teaching and leadership capacities. Throughout these years of service, Allen made time to enjoy life with his family and foster many friendships. He enjoyed after-dinner board games, and having family and friends join him in his outdoor adventures and travels: site-seeing historical parks, fishing Idaho streams, golfing, or supporting his UofU football and basketball teams. He loved music, good books, American History, and dessert. Allen is survived by his wife, Verla; children Kent (Emily), Wayne (Cynthia), Annette, and Cynthia Andrews; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Karl (Kay) Swan, and sister-in-law, Jan Thomas Swan. Preceded in death by his sister-in-law Janet L. Swan, and brother Robert. A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, SLC, on , 15, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 16, at the Valley View 8th Ward located at 4395 S. Obituary: Roland Swallow 26, 1936 – 26, 2012 Roland Swallow, 75, of Orem died , 26, 2012. He was born 26, 1936 to Richard M. and Ethel Swallow in Los Angeles, California. He married JoAnn Powell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Dec. 18, 1961. Roland and JoAnn have 8 children, 32 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Roland was a teacher at Cherry Hill Elementary in Orem. Roland is survived by his children: Devin, Becky, Ryan, Lani, Ester, Brooke, Bronze, and Dawn; siblings, Tim Swallow, Sharon Smith, Marcia Adams, and Linda Kallery; father: Richard M., and wife, JoAnn Powell Swallow. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel; brothers, Richard B. (Dick), and Sylvan; and grandchildren, Riley Belazo and Brent Covington. Obituary: MACK F SWAIN 1926 –2012 Mack Swain, our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep 27, 2012 from natural causes. Mack is a man whose promises have all been fulfilled…a man who died happy with his life, his family and God, aging gracefully and leaving this world the way he had always wanted. Born in Daniel, Utah 21, 1926 to Joseph F and Lacy Watson Swain, Mack was the youngest of seven children. His father passed away when he was a teenager and Mack worked two jobs to support the family. As a senior at Provo High School he was one of the few young men selected into the Naval Air Corps Officer Training program, providing him a commission in the Navy and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 and married his high school sweetheart LaRie Kay 27, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. were married 65 years and have three daughters, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mack built their first home in Edgemont. moved to Orem where he worked for Geneva Steel for over 30 years, becoming General Superintendent of Central Maintenance. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dearly loved by his ward family. A master craftsman and handyman, Dad could build anything and he could fix anything. He loved doing all kinds of projects in his basement woodshop, including furniture and rocking horses. He loved to solve problems and was so good at it. He never procrastinated. He was a model of self-reliance and hard work. He loved his country. He loved to golf, work in his yard, and watch BYU sports and the Utah Jazz. But more than anything, he loved his family. His children and grandchildren have been coming to Granny and Grandpas house in Orem for over 50 years. Mack is survived by his wife LaRie and sister Mima Daniels. He is so proud of his daughters and the men they married: Karla (Douglas) Jenkins, Connie (Michael) Stratton, and Jolene (Joe) Swenson. services will be held on , Oct 2, 2012 at 11 am with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 at the Sunset Heights 2nd Ward Chapel, 1260 South 400 West, Orem, Utah.
