Obituary: Karen Rasmussen Lundell Steele Feb. 11, 1935 ~ Feb. 9, 2010 Devoted to Family and Service Early morning, 9, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister valiantly returned to her heavenly home, free from the pain of her long-fought battle with cancer. She passed away just two days shy of her 75th birthday. She will be greatly missed by all that had the good fortune to know her. Karen was born in Oak Creek (Fairview), Utah on 11, 1935, the 4th of seven children born to Harold and Audrey Mower Rasmussen. Karen married Dick S. Lundell in 1952 and they were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple in 1954. are the parents of six surviving children: Frances (Gary) Hume, Park City; Richard (Barbara) Lundell, Lancaster, Ohio; Kevin (Jolene) Lundell, Orem; Gary (Leanna) Lundell, Nephi; Tamara (Allen) Gardner, Elk Ridge; and Sheri (Craig) Wilson, Provo. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, who mean the entire world to her. She is also survived by sisters: Janice (Don) Ledbetter, CA; LaDawn (Kirk) Ludlow, Orem; and Ruth (Clark) Clayson, Payson; sister-in-law Carlee Rasmussen, Provo, brother-in-law Ronald Millett, Provo; and step-children: Sandra Ash, Pat Peart, Gary, Mike, and Kent Steele. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses: Dick Lundell and Rex Steele, siblings: John, Jerry, Joyce Millett, and sister-in-law, Mary, and granddaughter, Cassie Lundell. Karen has a very strong love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many LDS Church callings throughout her life. She especially loved performing Temple work, teaching young children in Primary and working in the Cub Scout program. She spent many wonderful years living in Benjamin as the wife of Dick Lundell and then in Provo married to Rex Steele, with whom she loved to travel, seeing a great deal of the world. She acquired countless friends while working at the Egg Farm in Lake Shore and later at the BYU Morris . She loved to visit with friends and family, sharing stories of her many travels and adventures. She is well-known for her enthusiasm and boundless energy (hiking at age 64 to the top of Timpanogos and wearing her grandkids out) as well as walking at least four miles a day, even with cancer. Moms whole life was focused on loving and serving her family. She loved to work – she always kept an immaculate house and yard. We loved her fresh baked bread, rolls and cinnamon rolls, and her beautiful handcrafted clothing. She also loved to garden and quilt, making sure that each grandchild was provided with a beautiful hand-stitched labor of love upon high school graduation and at birth. She held stellar family parties at Easter and Christmas, earning her the nickname of Grandma Easter. Since 1961, she religiously kept a journal of the daily events of her life and her family, calling it her Book of Life. She was so proud of her family and their achievements. All three of her sons earned their Eagle Scout awards. One of the most difficult trials in her life was to leave her family. services will be held on , 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Lakeside 8th Ward Chapel, 131 South 1600 West, Provo, UT. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Walker Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo on , 12, from 6 to 8 pm and at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45. Interment will be in the Benjamin . Obituary: JoAnn Ruth Steele Lil Bit Joann Passed away 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 24, 1933 to Maurice & Flora Bissell. She was the eighth of ten children and was raised and went to school in Payson, UT. She married her best friend Norman Steele on 24, 1952. had six girls; Toni Garcia, Diane (Jim) Evert, Michele (Bruce) Pickering, n (Matt) Spencer, Julie (Kelly) Timmons, Anette (Allen) Steele. had sixteen grandkids, sixteen great grandkids and one great great granddaughter. She was the Kool-Aid mom to many. She held many callings in the LDS church. She was a member of the Schubert Singers for 30 years where she made many friends. She is survived by four sisters and one brother. She is preceded in death by Diane Evert, Kathy Pearson, son in law Ernie Garcia and many other loved ones.
