Obituary: Dorothy Hirschi Squire Dorothy Hirschi Squire left this life on 3, 2008, after a brief illness. She was born 15, 1922 in Hurricane, Utah, the third child of Claud and Anne Hirschi. She spent her childhood in Hurricane and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1940. She graduated from Dixie in 1942, where she was very busy with drama and music. She served as a student body officer and was voted `Queen of the Fine Arts celebration. She married her sweetheart, DeLance Squire, on 23, 1942 in the St. George Temple. Shortly after her marriage she was able to be with her husband as he served in the Army Air Corps. moved to Provo after the war and finished school at BYU. made their home in Orem in 1948. She was a great wife and mother. She had the unusual talent of only seeing the good in people. This quality enabled her to find friends everywhere she went. While many of her friends have already left this life she still leaves many in this life who call her their friend. She had many interests and talents, but her true love was her family, church and friends. She is survived by her husband, DeLance. She was the mother of five children: Joe D. (Jan) Squire; Hirschi Tyler (Mary) Squire; David H. Squire; Suzette (Rob) Lundgren and Sean C. (Pam) Squire. She was also survived by a very special niece, Katherine Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Merlin Hirschi, a sister, Barbara Kleinman, and her sons Tyler and David. A special thanks goes to Roger Hyatt with Hospice Alliance and the many family, friends and neighbors who have helped. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Perpetual Educational Fund. services will be held , 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 4th Ward Chapel, 440 East 800 South in Orem. Family and friends may call evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North in Orem and on morning from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Obituary: DeLance W. Squire passed away 2, 2011. DeLance was born 25, 1919, the oldest of ten children born to Loren D. Squire and Amelia Sanders of LaVerkin, Utah. He served a mission to the Eastern States and upon arriving home married Dorothy Hirschi, on 23, 1942, in the St. George Temple. were able to be together while he served in the Army Air Corps for the next three years. moved to Provo after the war where DeLance finished school at BYU. made their home in Orem in 1948. Professionally, DeLance worked for over 40 years as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked with a number of firms before founding the CPA firm of Squire & Squire. He very much enjoyed the people he worked with and the clients they served. He spent the last 10 years of his career as the Executive Director of the Community Economic Development of Orem. DeLance enjoyed serving in his Church, community and family. He was the Mayor of Orem from 1982 through 1985. In addition he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orem Community Hospital and Timpanogos Regional Hospital and as a board member of the Mountain View Hospital in Payson. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UVSC for two years. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from UVSC. He received the Arthur V. Watkins Outstanding Citizen Award and also received the ‘Outstanding Citizen’ award from the Utah State Chamber of Commerce. He considered his greatest achievement to be his marriage to Dorothy and their children who call him the ‘greatest dad’ in the world. He was the father of five children: Joe D. (Jan) Squire; Hirschi Tyler (deceased) and (Mary) Squire; David H. Squire (deceased); Suzette (Rob) Lundgren; and Sean (Pam) Squire. He and Dorothy also had 18 grandchildren and 27 great- grandchildren. Special thanks go to the health care professionals at Onecare Hospice and Provo Rehabilitation and .
