Obituary: Roger James Sondrup, (Tude), age 88, son of James Harvey Sondrup and Mavie Delora Christensen, born on 8, 1925, in Ephraim, Utah, passed away peacefully 11, 2014 in St. George, Utah from complications related to Alzheimer's. Roger was preceded in death by his father, mother, older brothers Clifford and Max, his older sister Luzon and son Brad. He is survived by his sweet wife Carrol, his younger sister Eris, daughters Sheridan England, Jennifer Yates, and sons Wayde and Jeff. He and Carrol have 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Roger was raised in Ephraim, Utah and loved his hometown. In 1944 he left high school early to serve in World War II. He enlisted in the US Navy and fought in the South Pacific aboard the USS Bataan, where he served as Quartermaster. Following the War he attended Utah State University where he met and married his sweetheart Carrol Nelson from Moroni, Utah, on 17, 1947, in the Manti Temple. Roger was a great athlete and played ball for a short time with the Salt Lake City Bees baseball club. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation as a foreman in the refinery and retired from Kennecott. Roger loved his family, singing, sports, gardening, hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was a fun and loving dad, grandfather and great grandfather. We love you and will miss you dad. The family greatly appreciates the staffs of Emeritus in St. George, So. Utah Veterans and Journey of Hope Hospice for their kind and professional care on behalf of our father. A viewing will be held on , 19, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 with a funeral following at 11:00, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Obituary: Marie Robinson Sondrup 1940 ~ 2010 Marie Robinson Sondrup, age 69, passed away peacefully , May 27, 2010, in St George, Ut. She was born on 8, 1940, to Neva Pace and Ross Robinson in Delta, Utah. She attended BYU where she met and married Bruce Humpherys; later divorced. had one child, Sheri Maria. She later married James L. Sondrup in Salt Lake City, Utah. later divorced, but remained friends throughout life. Marie was a very talented, beautiful and gifted woman. She loved to do fashion illustration, sing, and was the definition of all things glamorous. She was known for her beauty, style and love of hats. She spent her later life in LaJolla, California. She loved the ocean and the beauty of nature. She had a wonderful laugh and a mischievous sense of humor. She had a very special relationship with her mother, Neva Robinson Smith. spent much of their life living close to one another and loved to associate together. There is a vacancy in our lives with her passing, but we take comfort in the knowledge that she is now free of earthly pain, illness and sorrow. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her mother, Neva (Ken) Smith of St. George, Utah, daughter, Sheri Maria (Shaun) Houston of Syracuse, Utah, brothers; Bob (Jeannie) Robinson of St. George, Utah, and Steve (Anne) Robinson of Danville, CA, three granddaughters; Heather, Sarah, and Camille Houston, as well as nieces, nephews and extended families. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved father, Ross Robinson. Obituary: Keith Denzel Sondrup 1928 ~ 2010 “Papa!†Keith Denzel Sondrup, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home on , 31st, 2010, from congestive heart failure. He was born 1, 1928, in Salt Lake City (Sugarhouse), Utah, to Denzel and Teresa Watson Sondrup. His youth was spent in south Provo, where he was a star basketball player at Provo High School. While attending Brigham Young University he met his sweetheart Sherma Lee Taylor. were married 20, 1951 and were later sealed in the Manti Temple. In 1950, Keith enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Following his military service, he completed a bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from Brigham Young University. He later received a graduate degree from BYU in Educational Administration. He was a member of the BYU Cougar Club serving as president of the Utah Chapter and on the Board of Directors. He was a life-long season ticket holder for BYU basketball and football. Keith and Sherma are proud parents of two daughters, Sherry and Sue. Keith’s world revolved around his wife and daughters. Whether he was taking them to BYU sporting events, assignments on the church welfare farm, vacations or to the various places he worked, Keith loved to have his daughters with him. This coming would have marked Keith and Sherma’s 60th wedding anniversary. were an example of a loving and faithful couple devoted to their family and the gospel. Keith had a special talent for working with youth. His career as an educator was spent teaching health and driver’s education to high school students, one year at Pleasant Grove High School and then transferring to Orem High School in 1957. Following his retirement from Orem High in 1987, he and Bud Oldroyd founded Koachman Driving School which they owned and operated for ten years. Keith also taught courses at BYU and UVU for many years. As an educator, Keith will be remembered as someone who loved kids and always greeted them with a big smile and positive attitude. Keith was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in many callings including elders quorum president, high councilor, bishop’s counselor, bishop of the Orem 24th Ward and as a member of a branch presidency at the MTC. He and Sherma enjoyed serving together at the baptismal font in the Provo Temple and as directors at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple baptistry. were called as full-time missionaries in St. George and later as directors of the service missionaries serving in Wasatch, Juab and Utah . Keith’s life was spent in service to his students, ward members, neighbors, friends, and most especially, his family. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his patience and his kindness to others. He never spoke or wanted to hear an unkind word about anyone. Sherry’s children have had the privilege of growing up next door to their grandparents and their lives were blessed to share that time with “Papaâ€. will always have special memories of Papa for the kind and loving man that he is. He is survived by his wife Sherma, daughters Sherry (Terry) Peterson of Orem and Sue (John) Stevens, twelve grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister Maxine (Dick) Thomas of Provo. He is now reunited with his father who passed away when Keith was 14, his mother, and many other friends and loved ones. The family wishes to thank the wonderful friends and care givers who have lovingly helped Keith. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Mission Fund. Obituary: Carrol Sondrup, Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully 15, 2015 of natural causes. Carrol was born on Christmas Day, 1928 to Andrus Jay and Evelyn Davis Nelson in Moroni, Utah. Growing up her nickname was Corky. Her family later moved to Garfield, UT but then returned to Moroni while she was in High School. Following graduation from Moroni High School, she attended Utah State University where she met the love of her life, Roger.Carrol married her sweetheart Roger James Sondrup on 17, 1947, in the Manti temple. were married for 66 years.Carrol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings including, Relief Society president, School teacher, Den Leader, and sang beautifully in many ward choirs. She was a frequent volunteer for the PTA and LDS Social Services. She had a strong testimony of our Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her great loves in life were her husband, her family and her faith. Her passion was teaching children to swim. She taught for nearly 40 years and thousands of children learned to swim at "Carrol's Swim School." As a Life Guard, she also saved several lives. Carrol was a genuinely sweet, gentle and graceful lady who rarely said an unkind word. She always saw the best in others and never sought fame or attention for herself. Carrol is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger James Sondrup, son Bradford James Sondrup, sister Frances (Frankie) Nelson Goodsell and her brother Andrus Dee Nelson. Carrol is survived by her daughter Sheridan England (Les), daughter-in-law Kim Sondrup Walkowski (Brad), sons Roger Wayde Sondrup (Karolyn) and Andrus Jeffrey Sondrup (Kami), daughter Jennifer Yates (Brad) and her brother Allen Bryant Nelson. Carrol has 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She affectionately called her grandkids her "Little Darlin's."The family would like to thank Brookdale at Cliff View Assisted Living and Journey of Hope Hospice for their care and service and express appreciation to special friends Bill and Nancy Wagner for their love and friendship over the years.
