Obituary: Craig Morgan Snyder 7/19/47 ~ 10/26/09 Craig Morgan Snyder died at home , 26, 2009 at the age of 62 from pancreatic cancer. He was born 19, 1947 in Payson, UT. He graduated from Murray High School in 1965 and then attended the University of Utah where he received degrees in history and political science and a Juris Doctorate in law. He was a long-time partner in the firm of Howard, Lewis and Petersen and worked there since 1973. In 1987 he was voted Domestic Relations Lawyer of the Year by the Utah Bar Association. He was a member of the Central Utah Bar Association and served as president in 1978. He served as a Utah State Bar Commissioner from 1991-1997. Craig really cared about people and wanted to help them solve their problems. He conducted his practice with integrity and has left a legacy and example for upcoming lawyers. For 36 years, he was a member of Riverside Country Club in Provo, where he loved to relax by playing golf and cards. He made many lasting friendships at the Club. At the University of Utah he belonged to Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and was also head cheerleader. He was a member of the Crimson Club and loved U of U sports, regularly attending their football and basketball games. He was honored once as the Utes “Superfan of the month†for his commitment to the U, despite living in Provo. He was a member of Calvary Fellowship Church in American Fork, where he had served as an elder, School teacher and as a legal and financial advisor. The most important day of his life came 21 years ago when he made the decision to commit his life to Jesus Christ. His life changed that day. As he grew in his relationship with Christ, we saw more and more positive changes in him. At his death he was at peace with God and knew that, because of what Jesus Christ had done for him in dying for his sins, he would go to be with Him in Heaven. Craig had a great wit and sense of humor, and everyone loved his stories. He could tell the same story over and over and still keep you laughing, even if you were just laughing because it was the 5th time you’d heard it! Throughout his life we learned how many wonderful friends he had. It seemed everyone had a “Craig story†of their own. The outpouring of love from family, friends, church family and the legal community has been tremendous. People commented on his fine moral integrity, his example as a Christian man, his generosity, his humor and his fun-loving personality. We were truly blessed to have him as a father, brother and husband. He took us on countless family vacations, fishing trips, dinners out, camping excursions, hikes, etc. He taught his boys commitment, devotion, hard work, how to provide for his family and, most importantly, how to respect women. That respect was shown in the great relationship he had with his beautiful wife Nancy. celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in . He loved her with his whole heart and was totally devoted to her. For 40 years he continued their courtship basically romancing her socks off. He is a fine example to husbands everywhere. We will miss him greatly but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. He is survived by his wife Nancy; three sons, Travis, Brady (Angie), and Matt (Dana); three grandchildren, Evangeline, Prisca and Joshua; and three siblings, Christine, Stan and Mitch. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha. A public viewing is planning from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. , Oct. 29 at Walker Mortuary, 646 East 800 North, Orem, UT. A public funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Walker Mortuary before interment at Larkin in Sandy. |
