Obituary: Our sweet angel Mekenzie Gabrielle Slater peacefully returned to her Heavenly Family in the early hours of the morning 2, 2009. Wrapped in her mother’s arms and surrounded by her loving family she bravely began her new journey where she can now run, dance, sing, and twirl. She left this life much as she entered it, giving those around her a glimpse of Heaven. A perfect and faithful spirit in a most imperfect body she was our example our courage, faith, charity, and love. Mekenzie was born on May 30, 1996 in Provo Utah to Rob and Louisa Slater. She came home to a wonderful neighborhood where she has lived with her parents and three big brothers for 13 years. School was a happy and important part of her life. She attended Oakridge School, Canyon Crest Elementary School, and was currently a student at Centennial Middle School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Edgemont 1st ward where she loved to attend Primary and singing time. Mekenzie loved music! There was rarely a time that she was not listening to one of her favorite Primary or Disney songs! She loved watching her Disney movies and would often laugh and giggle at the same funny parts. She loved hugs and kisses from her brothers, who could rarely walk by her without stopping to give her some. She loved her daddy to play and bounce with her and mommy to sing and lay next to her. She recently went to Hawaii with her family and loved the sound of the waves and the breeze off the ocean. Mekenzie is survived by her parents, brother Jesse (serving a mission in Argentina) brothers Zachary and Jacob, grandparents Otto and Lucy Slater of Los Altos Hills, CA and Labarbara Stanfield of Richland Washington. She is preceeded in death by her grandfather Milo Lynn Stanfield. She leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her. Her family is especially grateful to the loving care Mekenzie has received all her life from Utah Valley Hospital and Primary Children’s Medical . especially thank her Pediatrician Dr. Michael Lauret, her Rehab Physician Dr. Theresa Such-Neibar, and her Nurse Leah Hill and caregiver Kim Anderson for their dedicated service and love to Mekenzie and her family. services will be held 7, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Edgemont stake center, 303 W 3700 N, Provo. A Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the stake center. Interment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Hills |

Obituary: He was born in Czechoslovakia and emigrated to the United States with his family in 1935. Raised in New Jersey, he became a star athlete and eventually played professional baseball on the minor league level. In 1943 he joined the Army and was assigned to the 508th Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned two purple hearts and a bronze star. the war, he met and married Virginia Combi. Lou became a Civil Engineer and settled in Utah. He retired from Ford, Bacon and Davis as their CEO when he was 65. He twice served as a Director at Hidden Valley Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years; daughters Stephanie (Tony) Poulsen and JoAnn (Larry) Lighty; granddaughters Jennifer (Walker), Laura, Elizabeth and Megan. Preceded in death by parents Johanna and Anton; and sister Mildred Brodeck. The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Medical and Rocky Mountain Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Lou. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Lous name to the Judge Memorial Golf Team, Huntsman Cancer Institute or your favorite charity. Obituary: Joseph Glenn Slagowski 1918 – 2011 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Joseph Glenn Slagowski passed away “because he was old†on Aug 7, 2011 at 93 and surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Jan 6, 1918, the 5th of 12 children, to John Ezra and Sarah Jane Bodell Slagowski in Herriman, Utah, was raised in Lyman, Wyoming. Married Elaine McDonald (deceased). raised 3 children, 2 deceased. Glenn worked in oil exploration for 38 yrs. He worked in Alaska prospecting for oil on the north slope when the Prudoe Bay field was discovered. He also helped find several large oil fields in Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Montana, and Canada. On Oct 20,1982 he married Emma Lou Milner and has lived in Provo since. Together they have served 3 missions, New York, New York, Lima Peru South and Mississippi Jackson. He has worked several years in the Provo Temple. With his work and missions he has traveled extensively. He was a handy-man & would fix almost anything until the day he died. He is survived by his wife Emma Lou & children: Blaine (Mary) Slagowski, Lorene (Buzz) Skinner, Bruce (Kriss) Gibbons, Barbara (Richard) Gonzales, Paul (Bonnie) Gibbons, & Clarice Lara, 28 Grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren. Obituary: Emma Lou Milner Gibbons Slagowski Our beloved wife, mother, and Grandma, Emma Lou Milner Gibbons Slagowski, died Nov. 9th, 2011, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loved ones. Emma Lou was born to Arnel Seaton and Pearl Hamblin Milner, 9th, 1922, in Castle Gate, Utah. She was taught in the home, by a mother and father who taught the gospel, taught her to read the scriptures and talk about the scriptures, which lead to a deep conviction and love for our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, in which she was able to share that conviction. She was raised in Provo Manalu Ward. She attended BYU elementary, Farrer Jr. High and BY High School. She had 56 first cousins on her mothers side. met often and enjoyed each other and were as close as brothers and sisters. She loved Hamblin family gatherings. She married Carlos Gibbons , 1st 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. had many happy years and 6 children. She worked at the Small Arms Plant in Salt Lake as a head supervisor, during the war. She was Chairman of the Utah Republican Womens Club of Utah, Chairman of the Provo PTA over the Mental . At a young age, she taught primary and taught the boys for years. She was called to work with the Boy Scouts as a ward, stake and district leader. She was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, the highest council award given in scouting. She worked over 45 years in the scouting program. She worked with the Young Women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a leader in the ward and as ward and stake camp director. She was one of the first camp directors set apart and helped developed the camping program for the Young Women. On 20th, 1982, she married the love of her life, Joseph Glenn Slagowski in the Provo Temple. Together they served 3 missions. She served a mission in south Dakota prior to their marriage. served downtown in the New York, New York mission, Peru South Mission, serving Pisco, Jackson Mississippi Mission, serving in Gulfport in the Mission Presidency, and they served in the Provo Temple, as ordinance workers. She was a valiant, dedicated, and effective missionary, in the mission field. She loved and inspired the young missionaries, worked with investigators and bearing her testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Above all else, she loved Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. Her motto was to bear her testimony 5 times a day. She is survived by her children, Lorene (Buzz) Skinner, Bruce (Kriss), Barbara (Richard) Gonzales, Paul (Bonnie), Clarice Lara, 29 grandchildren, 84 great- grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren and Blaine (Mary) Slagowski. She is preceded in death by husband Joseph Glenn Slagowski, her parents, her brothers Leon and Don and her sister Beth, and children Ann Udell, David Gibbons, Shirleen (Jerry) Davis, and Jay Slagowski. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 12, 2011, at the Pleasant View 6th Ward Chapel, 2445 North 650 East, Provo, UT. Family and friends may call evening, 11, 2011, at the Church from 6-8 p.m. and afternoon from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Provo City .
