Obituary: MERLE HAZEL SWEARINGEN went safely and peacefully home to be with her heavenly father , 4, 2015. God and precious family members welcomed her with open arms and rejoiced at her arrival in heaven. Although our hearts are broken we will cherish the memory of our beloved Mother. Merle Hazel Swearingen was born in Doddridge, Arkansas and moved to Houston, Texas after her marriage. She was a devoted wife and mother. She graduated from Bright Star High School in Doddridge, Arkansas and worked for Galena Park School District until she retired. Merle is preceded in death by her husband, Abe C. Swearingen, her mother and father, James and Allie Hazel, her son, Abe "Tex" Swearingen, daughter, Aster Presswood, daughters-in-laws, Pat Swearingen and Brenda Swearingen, and brother and sister, Tom Hazel and Imogene Patton. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Betty Hawkins , Mary Black, and Sharon Moon, sons Gary Swearingen and John Swearingen, son in laws Jimmy Hawkins, Dickie Black, and Joe Presswood, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on , 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. Obituary: Mary Belle Swearingen logged thousands of hours on the back of a motorcycle, and survived, had three major car accidents, and survived, jumped out of an airplane on her 75th birthday last , and survived, so how sad that we lost our precious Mary Belle from complications following a routine outpatient surgery. On , 5, 2010, she left this life to join her Lord and family in Heaven. She is survived by Bob Lewallen, as well as her three children, Keni and John Rodgers of Hondo, Lesli Banner and John Atkin of San Antonio and Phil and Valerie Swearingen of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Ron and Shanna Rodgers of Houston, Lori and Mike Rose of Hondo, Lauren and Mark Richey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rowdy Banner, Kylie Rock, Tatum and Reid Swearingen; two great-grandchildren, Bella Rose and Caitlyn Richey. She is preceded in death by her husband, Col. Douglas Osborne Swearingen and her daughter, Judi Johnson. Mary Belle was a committed member and pianist at First Baptist Church, Jourdanton and was actively involved in their nursing home ministry. A visitation for Mary Belle will be held evening, Sept. 7, 2010 from 7PM to 9PM at Sunset Chapel. A funeral service will be , 8, 2010 at 8:30AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Ft. Obituary: Retired USAF SMSgt Gene Swearingen 85, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on 2nd, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born in Shirley, IL on 10, 1932 to Glover Floyd Swearingen and Mary Hazel Carwile. Gene enlisted in USAF after his graduation from Heyworth High School in IL 1951. Gene served in the Vietnam and Korean War. He received the Bronze Star, Air Force and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation medals. Gene served in the Fifth U.S Army 1983-1995 JA/ATT. He retired on 01, 1976 having proudly served 24 years. Gene went on to retire from Civil Service after 20 years. Gene received his B.A. Political Science from University of Maryland and was past member of Pi Sigma Alpha. Gene later earned his Masters in International Relations from Arkansas. Gene was an enthusiastic ham radio operator. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, of 10 years, Beatriz Perez Swearingen, siblings Virginia Harmon & Loretta Porter of Bloomington, IL, and Marilyn Thompson (Donald) of Danvers, IL, son Randy Swearingen (Sue) of Crowell, TX, daughter Sheryl Ann McLaury (Buster) of Paducah, TX, step children; Armando Amador Jr. (Debbie), Angel Amador (Sheena) and Betty Amador (Mario). He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Extended family members and friends. A visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on , 15, 2017, at Sunset , 1701 Austin Highway with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 pm that same evening. Obituary: Gail Hall Swearingen a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, departed this life on , 23, 2004. She was born on May 8, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas, and spent her childhood at a dozen Army posts in the United States and the Philippines where her father was stationed. She was pre-deceased by her father and mother, Lt. General Charles P. Hall and Isabel Mayer Hall, a Canary Island descendant. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Patrick Harry Swearingen Jr., and by her daughter, Sidney S. Wood and husband Stephen; her daughter Susan S. Oelsen and husband, Stacy; and her son, Patrick H. Swearingen III, and wife, Julie; and by seven grandchildren, Alexandra and Mary Catherine de Marigny, Marshall, Tucker, and Rachael Oelsen, and Isabelle and Sidney Swearingen. She attended Saint MaryÂs Hall and graduated from Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, DC. Gail studied one year at Sweet Briar in Virginia and returned to Texas where she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Gail was a spiritual person and faithful member of the Christ Episcopal Church, where she helped start the  VisitorsÂ, taught School and worked with the Lunch. She served on the Boards of the Junior League and the Harry Jersig Speech and Hearing , served as Chairman of the Assembly and Timely Topics and as President of the Alamo Heights/Terrell Hills Garden Club. Gail was a giving and caring person and she was extremely grateful for the many loving people who touched her life and those who, during her illness, held her in their prayers and she deeply appreciated their expressions of love and kindness. |
