Obituary: William Ulric Sumner was born 19, 1931 in Waco to Dump and Frankye Sumner. He grew up on a farm outside of Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948. graduating from Texas Tech University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to the Eighth Army Headquarters, Quartermaster Section, Seoul, Korea as a petroleum lab specialist for two years. his tour of duty was up, he got a job working as a petroleum engineer for Seaboard Oil for six years and then worked for Murphy H. Baxter for over twenty years drilling many oil wells and building several oil pipeline gathering systems. During this time, he was also involved with starting Mesa Pipeline and Wing Corporation. In 1981 he started Bethel Gas and about a year later Shawnee Pipeline . Bill retired in 1996 after more than forty years in the oil and gas business. His hobbies included photography, traveling, flying his plane and building in his workshop. He also enjoyed ice cream and spending time with his dogs and his grandchildren. He was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He died 13, 2015, in Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents Dump Burnham Sumner and Frankye Lee Woolsey Sumner, his brother James Dump Sumner and his wife of 49 years, Betty Whitmire Sumner. Survivors include his daughter Sara Sumner Davidson of The Woodlands; his daughter Nancy Sumner Pannell and husband Jim of Midland; his son John Whitmire Sumner and wife Paige of Midland; his grandchildren Cutler William Davidson and Peter Walker Davidson, both of The Woodlands; James Callaway Pannell, Rachel Claire Pannell, Sumner Michael Pannell, Luke Elliott Pannell, Clara Avalyn Sumner and William Bryant Sumner, all of Midland; his sister Betsy Sumner Fry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; his niece Sue Sumner Kimble; and his nephews Collin Fry, Paul Fry, Preston Fry and Jim Fry. A memorial service has been set for 11 a.m. on , 18, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Midland with Rev. Macky Pitts officiating. The family is grateful to the many health care professionals who helped during Bills prolonged hospital stay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be directed to a charity of ones choice. |

Obituary: Susan Jo Peal Sumner of Sugar Land, TX passed away 14, 2016 with her family by her side at the young age of 60. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on 4, 1955 to the late William Ralph Peal and Betty Jo Carter Peal. With her cheerful and generous spirit, she could make a friend out of anyone. Her greatest happiness was in helping others whether hosting celebrations or helping friends and family in times of need. She wasn just the life of the party; she brought joy to everyone around her, a true hostess with the mostest, as she would say. Susan attended St. Vincents Academy in Shreveport, LA where she found her love of singing as a member of the Cheerful Givers. She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1976 where she enjoyed her time as an Alpha Chi Omega. She was dedicated to her family and community, active in both PTO and Girl Scouts. She retired from Fort Bend ISD after 12 years of employment. Patrick was born 3, 1946, to George Claiborne Sumner and Noemie Kieffer Sumner in Ft. Worth, TX. Patrick was a soft spoken man, a gentle spirit and a love for mathematics and science. He served his country in the US Army in Vietnam, specializing in microwave radio. Once his service was complete, Patrick graduated Tarleton State University with a major in mathematics and a minor in computer science. graduation, Patrick took a job overseas where he met his wife and best friend of 40 years, Martha Roper Sumner. spent their life in Grand Prairie. Patrick and Martha have two daughters, Christina and Catherine, and one granddaughter, Ella. Over the course of his life, Patrick has been an active member in his church, First Baptist, where he taught fifth grade school with his wife for many years, as well as, serving as Deacon. Patricks professional life began with actuarial work, till he found his calling in Human Resources coordinating and facilitating employee benefits. retirement, Patrick would occasionally pick up some contract work on pension plans. However, his zeal for knowledge led him to return to Tarleton to complete his MBA and become a member of the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. In his free time, Patrick enjoyed continuing education, swimming, live theatre, old western movies, gardening and travel. Obituary: Neill Sumner, MSG (Ret.), 72, passed away on 4, 2014 at home in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1942 in Tyler, Texas to George and Zona Dee Sumner. He grew up in Hereford, Texas and graduated from Stanton Junior High School in 1956. Neill joined and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Special Forces "Green Beret" the last thirteen years of his career. Neill received several Medals of Honor during his career in the Army, including, the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Master Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medals (6), Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Jump Wings Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit with Palm, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Parachute Badge and Air Medal with Service. Neill worked as a Security Patrol Manager for Smith Protective Services for about 15 years. Here, he met some of the people he considered his life long friends with whom he enjoyed horse trail riding. Some of his other hobbies included bowling, billiards and range shooting. He was considered a Class A Marksman. However, his favorite hobby was being "PoPo" to his grandchildren. Neill was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, G. Caldwell; his son, Tony Villasana, III; and sisters, Marco Mansfield, Sue Messenger and Shirley Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Erlene Sumner; his children, Carmen E. Garcia, E. Grace Young, Judy E. Henson and husband Howard, Greg E. Villasana, Tresa L. Ferguson and husband John, Halane E. Villasana, Tracy T. Schuster and husband Joseph, Deanna L. Blake and husband Phillip, and Kristen D. Smith; his nineteen grandchildren; his eighteen great-grandchildren; his siblings, D. Andrew Sumner and wife Shirley, Jane K. Castro and husband Domingo and Rebecca L. Blasingame and husband Darrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Obituary: Mary Louise Earl Sumner lost her fifteen-month battle with cancer on , 21, 2009. She was born 31, 1923, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the daughter of Master Sergeant Matthew Cabble and Louise Snyder Earl. She was a graduate of both Thomas Edison High School 1940 and Trinity University 1943, where she earned the credentials of a Registered Medical Technologist. She met her devoted husband Fred William Sumner, Jr. on a blind date on Christmas Eve in 1942; they married 8, 1943. She was an active volunteer in Samuel Maverick Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High School and Thomas Jefferson High School PTAs. Once her daughters were away at college, she resumed her career with Medical Associates in the Nix Building. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for over forty years, where she served on the Vestry and Altar Guild. However, she was most proud of years of volunteer work with the Trinity Shopette. She recently joined St. Lukes Episcopal Church, and continued with the Green Door until her illness prohibited such work. She and her husband, Fred, were members of Oak Hills Country Club for over 30 years. She enjoyed her volunteer work, but most especially she loved a good game of bridge. She was a member of numerous bridge clubs, including the Card Club, which originated in 1950. She will be remembered for her love of family, passion for cooking and entertaining, devotion to a wide circle of friends and a good read. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry, and parents Matthew and Louise Earl. Survivors include Fred, her husband of sixty-five years, daughter Janice Castleberry and her husband Joe, and daughter Barbara OConnell and her husband Pat. Additional survivors include her sister-in-law Margaret Earl, niece Mary Ann Pigott and nephew Jerry Butch Earl. She is survived by her grandchildren - those who knew and loved her as G-Mom - Caroline Cancellare and her husband Richard; Christopher OConnell; Tricia OConnell; and Travis Castleberry and wife Elizabeth. Mary Louise also doted lovingly on her two great-grandchildren, CeCelia and Nina Cancellare. A private burial will be held during the week.
