Obituary: Dr. Daniel Ray Stryker passed from this life to heaven on , 13, 2013 in Houston, TX after a long fight with cancer and Neurosarcoidosis. He was born on 15, 1957 on a military base in London, England while his father was serving in the U.S. Air Force there. moving around with a military family he moved to Houston in First Grade and graduated from MacArthur High School in Aldine. Dan was a football star in high school, playing tight end and punter. He could kick the football from one end of the field to the other and drop it on the 3 or 4 yard line. He attended Sam Houston State University on a football scholarship his freshman year, but decided to concentrate on studies after that. Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He worked in medical research for several years doing surgery on animals while teaching Biology at UTMB. He worked for several years at St. Joseph Hospital before deciding to teach. He worked as a substitute teacher in the Conroe school district while working on a Master of Education degree from the University of Houston. He taught English and Math at Eisenhower High School in Aldine for several years. He then spent the majority of his career as a History professor at both Lonestar and Houston Community . Along the way he continued his education and completed a Master of Arts degree in History at Sam Houston State University and a Doctor of Education Curriculum Instruction degree at University of Houston. Dan never lost his love of learning and was half-way finished with a Master of Arts in English when he became ill about four years ago. A love of learning was something Dan passed along to his students, impacting many lives. He was a popular professor who made History interesting to students who previously found it boring. would wait to schedule their next History class at a time when he would be teaching. Students in next-door classrooms where known to leave their doors open so they could listen to his lectures and once his class even gave him a standing ovation. On the Internet, where students graded teachers, he got the highest marks available. His students weren the only ones who loved him. His nieces and nephews loved him and he loved them. He frequently entertained them with silly antics. Their favorite time was every Christmas when he played Santa Claus and handed out all the gifts. Dan contributed much to this world and he will be missed. Dan is survived by his parents, Theodore Ray and Nina Margaret Bryant Stryker, his sisters Ruth and her husband Mike Flores, Becky and her husband Karl Turner and brother John Stryker all from the Houston area and sister Esther and her husband John Griffing of Georgetown, TX and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Obituary: Allan K. Stryker Allan K Stryker was born 15, 1946 in Paterson, New Jersey to parents Allan Stryker and Mildred Marie Laycock and passed away 18, 2017. He grew up in Louisville, KY and attended the University of Louisville for his BA, MD, Surgical Internship, general surgery residency, and Plastic Surgery residency. He practiced Plastic & Reconstructive surgery at Trover Clinic, 1978 to 1986; in Williamsport, PA 1986 to 2002; Active duty at Darnall Army Hospital, Ford Hood, Killeen, TX 2002 to 2005. He returned to Williamsport working for the Susquehanna System from 2005 to 2012. Allan returned to Texas in 2013. All who knew him knew how much he enjoyed the warm weather. He is survived by his daughters Danielle and Michelle Stryker, Grandsons Cole Stryker-Mahonski, Kai Dcot and former wife Victoria Stryker. Allan had friends all over the country. He is remembered for his surgical talent, artistic talent including photography and drawing. His joy, besides his family, was listening to the music of Bob Dylan, and his love of all things trains. Obituary: Our Beloved Grace M. Strybing, 68 of Temple, TX peacefully passed late afternoon at Scott and White Hospital. Grace was born 12th, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Frank and Margret Plachy. She lived a vibrant childhood, growing up in Temple both on the farm and in town. She attended Temple High School where she enjoyed being a part of the Wildcats Cheerleading squad, the French club and the Library club before graduating in 1963. She attended Temple Jr. , where she was elected The Basketball Sweetheart, Mary-Hardin Baylor, and the University of Texas Austin class of 1966. 30 years of service with the Federal Aviation Administration, Grace retired in 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. her retirement, she resided in Las Vegas for several years before returning to her home town Temple. In recent years she delighted in her time spent volunteering with the Mended Hearts Association chapter 12 at Scott and White Hospital, and the Temple theatre group. Her joy in hobbies revolved around rug hooking and gardening primarily, with an array of various other interests she dabbled in over the years. Her favorite hobby in younger years was volunteering for the Alaskan Sled Dog and Racing Association where she spent her time with both the beautiful dogs and their mushers. Our Beloved Grace is survived by her husband Paul Strybing, daughter Michelle Woodruff, son Michael Pumphrey and his wife Victoria, grand-daughters Tristan and Tamara Pumphrey, step children Kelli Williams, Paul B. Strybing, Christopher and Kimberly Strybing, as well as the numerous other family members and friends who loved her dearly. As a phenomenal mother, a loving wife, a loyal friend and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grace truly was a self made woman. She relied on her independence, strength, and strong faith in The Lord to carry her though her beautiful life. This extraordinary woman has been an encouragement, an inspiration, and an example in all she set her hand to, and everyone she encountered. She was truly a blessing. So dearly loved\ Her spirit lives on in all whom she adored. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you send your loving donations to any of the following organizations: The American Cancer Association \ Mended Hearts Association chapter 12 Scott and White Hospital \ St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple, TX.
