Obituary: Carolden Idell Strickland, age 82, of Round Rock, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on 6, 2016. She was born on 14, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama to Ray Webster Calhoun and Idell Josephine Frazier. Family meant everything to Carolden and she lived her life to make sure that they were always cared for and knew they were loved. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and working with ceramics and crafts. She retired from federal service, only to go onto earning her nursing degree at the age of 60. She was recognized by the Whos Who in America for her accomplishment. Carolden was Seventh Day Adventist, and an active member of the Stonehill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pflugerville, a church and congregation she came to love very much. Anything Carolden put her mind to she accomplished. She was a force of nature to be reckoned with. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray Calhoun and Josephine Noble; her brother, Ray Calhoun; and husband, Madison M.G. Strickland. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Bobby and wife Dana Lock; Johnny and wife Laura Strickland; Randy Martin; Lisa Altier, Mark and wife Wendy Altier, and Dina and husband Travis Gamble; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Sonjah Hatfieild, Benny Calhoun, Susan Calhoun, and Jimmy Ray Calhoun. Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held on , 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 10, 2016 at the Stonehill Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4301 Kelly Lane, Pflugerville. Obituary: Services for Bryan Weldon Strickland, 80, of Holly Lake Ranch are scheduled for 1:30 P.M., , 15, 2010 at Lloyd James Chapel with Rev. Alfred Darst officiating. Burial will be at Cathedral in the Pines. Mr. Strickland passed away on , 12, 2010 in Tyler. He was born on 16, 1929 in Sherman. high school he served in the Korean War. He was a traffic analyst for Yellow Freight in Dallas for 30 years. retirement he and JoAnn moved to Holly Lake Ranch and resided there for 17 years. He was a member of the Holly Lake Chapel. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Strickland of Holly Lake, sons, Nick Strickland and wife Linda of Allen and Michael Strickland of Lindale; sister, JoAnn Dilday and husband Henry of Mesquite; step-daughters, Laurie Hale of Holly Lake and Jody Walker of Tyler and step-son Kenny Walker of Tyler. Obituary: Bobby Joe Strickland, 79, of Arlington, passed away at his residence on , 23, surrounded by his family. He was born in Leroy, Tx, to J.M. and Maggie Strickland. he was raised in Hillsboro where he worked on the family farm. He married Barbara Dollar on 19, 1954 and they moved to Arlington in 1962 where Bobby worked at the GM assembly plant for 38 years. had two sons, David and Douglas who were also raised in Arlington. He loved being outdoors whether it was working in the yard or planting flowers and if you drove by the family home, it was apparent that Bobby had a "green thumb." He loved his church and he loved his family. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a son, David; his parents; four brothers and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; son, Douglas of Mansfield; sister, Thelma Jones of Springtown, Tx; three brothers; Vernon Strickland and W.D. Strickland of Hillsboro, Tx, and Leo Strickland of Arlington; numerous nieces and nephews. |
