Obituary: Jennie Loraine Strayhorn, 79, passed away on 18, 2017. She was born on 31, 1937 in Austin, TX to Carl and Mabel Johnson. She attended Austin High School and graduated in 1955. She married Melvin Ladell Strayhorn on 31, 1958. Jennie worked for the Texas Insurance Checking Office as an Insurance Examiner. She enjoyed spending time with her many co-workers at Texas Insurance Checking Office. Jennie loved working with children, and in her free time she would volunteer to tutor elementary school children. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Melvin Ladell Strayhorn. Jennie is survived by her sons; Melvin Ken and wife Irene, Larry and wife Mary, Ricci and wife Suzanne; grandchildren: Lauren, Austin, Ian, Allison, Andrew, Jacob and one great-grandson Logan. The family would like to thank the staff of Falcon Ridge for all of their efforts in the final days of her life. Obituary: Kenneth was born to Ernie and Alice Strawser on 2, 1915, at their home in West Manchester, Ohio. He grew up and completed the 10th grade of school. Then he worked with his Father at his Shoe and Leather Repair Shop, to learn his fathers trade. On 19, 1941 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served during WWII as a General Carpenter, stationed in North Alaska doing surveillance work near the Russian Border. He was Honorable Discharged on 23, 1945. During this time he married, Marion Boston, on 15, 1945. his discharge he gained employment with Railway Express Agency, as A Dock man, working his way to Dock Foreman before retiring. During this time he also completed a trade course for TV and Radio Repair. In early 1950s he retained custody of his four minor daughters: Carol Ann and Nancy Lee (twins) Kathleen Sue, Rebecca Jane He devoted his life to his four daughters, working two jobs. The railroad and TV Repair at his home shop. He retired in 1970 and moved to Germantown, Ohio to live and care for his mother. Then in the mid 1970s, they both moved to Ft. Myers, Fl. There he cared for his Mother and also owned a small Lawn Service. He lived in an Adult Community joining social groups and made several long term friendships and enjoyed his retirement. In 2003 due to declining health he moved to The Colony, TX, with his daughter and son in law, Larry and Becky Payton. In the past two years he required 24 hour care and went to God in Heaven on 1, 2011. He is survived by four daughters and son in laws: Paul and Carol Harrison, Nancy Taylor, Jim and Kathy Robbins Larry and Becky Payton, 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 16 Great-Great Grandchildren. He was a Loving and Devoted man to his Family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great LOVE.
