Obituary: Elinor Worthy Storbecks life peacefully drew to a close on , 13, 2014. She was 90 years old. Elinor was happy to have had a long life filled with family, friends, love, laughter, and music. Elinor was born in Galveston, TX on 3, 1924, to Elinor and Claude Worthy. As the youngest of five children she got the nickname of Babe, which stayed with her all of her life. Elinor was happily married to Johnny Storbeck for 43 years until his death. From 1950 to 1961, Elinor worked at the San Antonio City Hall as Assistant City Clerk. In 1972, Elinor and her beloved sister, Mary Jemeyson, received their Real Estate licenses and went to work for Helen Stangel Realty in Kirby. Besides her husband, Elinor was preceded in death by her son Jim Storbeck; sister Mary Jemeyson; brothers Charles, Russell, and Claude Worthy; and step-daughter Bobbie Storbeck. Elinor is survived by her sons Rusty Storbeck, Joe Storbeck, and Mike Storbeck; step-daughter Doris Giorda; her grandchildren Sonia Storbeck, Johnny Storbeck, Kelsey Storbeck, and Michael Ryan Storbeck; step-grandchildren Georgianne Gale, Buddy Gale, David Gale, Sheri Perry, Roger Liles, and Bobbie Jo Thompson. Services will be at Sunset (1701 Austin Highway), 17; visitation will be at 11:00am followed by the service at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at San Fernando #3. Obituary: Dotti Atsinger Stoppenhagen was born 2/24/1929 to Ernest Carl Atsinger and Alvina Lange Atsinger. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended parochial school there through the 8th grade. She graduated from Reagan High School with honors. She met Bob Stoppenhagen at Camp Lone Star. Several years later, when he returned from serving our country, they married at Immanuel on 2/9/1951. Dotti gave up a lucrative career at Weingartens to be a stay-at-home mom until her three daughters were grown. She spent her s at the art studio of Hazel Schauer, learning the finer points of oil painting. Many of us have been blessed with her beautiful paintings. She also made dolls, ceramics, and jewelry. She and Bob worked together on a small cattle farm in Wharton, TX, with his sister Doris and her husband Tilman. attended St. John Lutheran Church, where they were youth counselors for many years. As the girls finished high school, she became the executive receptionist at Aminoil, Inc. She took a break to spend several months in London with Bob, who was on temporary assignment there, and retired when the company was bought out. enjoyed extensive travel, both in the United States and abroad and also enjoyed hosting holidays and family gatherings in their home. were both long-time members of Our Savior Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed the Young at Heart senior group. Bobs passing in 1988, Dotti continued to paint and volunteer at a thrift store which helped to support the Good Samaritan , now known as Bethesda Communities. She moved to Dallas several years ago to be near Patti, relocating as her circumstances and needs changed. She passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on 5/5/2016, at Autumn Leaves in FlowerMound, and is whole in mind and body again with her Lord Jesus and all her loved ones who have attained the victory! Dotti is survived by her three daughters, Debbi Felder of Houston, Patti Hawkins and her husband David of Flower Mound, and Sandi Chalmers and her husband Richard of Lafayette, LA, as well as seven grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Brad (and Katy) Felder, Russ (and Tammy) Felder, Robin Hawkins, Tim (and Becky) Hawkins, Stephanie (and Jonny) Carroll, Cody Chalmers and Dusty Chalmers. She had eight great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are her sister Margaret Ludwig and her brothers, Ernest Atsinger (wife Janet) and Victor Atsinger (wife Sylvia). She was preceded in death by her husband. |

Obituary: Mildred "LaVerne" Stoppel, 101, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on 14, 2016. She was born 19, 1915 in Houston, Texas. LaVerne graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1932 where she was a member of the state champion girls basketball team and was awarded the MVP trophy for the tournament. While she was in high school, she was an active member of the Walther League at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she met her husband, Lawrence. were married in 1934 and had their only child, Dorothy, in 1939. LaVerne and Lawrence were active members of Trinity Lutheran and formed their life-long friends. This group enjoyed fellowship with their activities like Supper Club and Bridge Club, while experiencing life together. became members of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she was active as a School teacher and a member of the choir. She worked as a Customer Service Representative for Houston Natural Gas and retired in the spring of 1980. She loved spending time gardening and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived her life as a witness of her faith to Christ, our Lord and Savior. Anyone who met her recognized her sweet, kind, and gentle spirit, radiating God's love and grace through her expression. It was important for her to begin each morning spending time reading her Bible, devotional, and Portals of Prayer. She was faithful to spend hours in prayer each day, praying for those she loved and for those she didn't even know. She was a constant, silent witness of the grace and love of Christ. "Mama's" life exemplified the passage from Galatians 5:22-23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." LaVerne was preceded in death, by her parents, Anna and Bill Wohlt, Sr., her husband, Lawrence Stoppel, her daughter, Dorothy Marino, and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kay Wohlt. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Sherri Smith and her husband Mike, Vicki Ryon and her husband Ross, and her grandson Michael Marino, great-grandchildren, Weston Cavanaugh, Shannon Leonhardt and her husband Jason, Justin Smith, Cole Ryon and his wife Jill, and Candice Ryon, her niece Kelley Zarker and her husband Larry, their children Kourtney and Andrew. The family would like to thank all of the loving caregivers at Heritage Park in Katy, Texas for their love and devotion through the years. |
