Obituary: Douglas William Stiles, age 67, of Deer Park, Texas, was suddenly called home by his heavenly Father on , 10, 2014. The second child of Kenneth and Irene Stiles, Doug was born in Pasadena, Texas, on 4, 1946. He attended Pasadena High School where he graduated in 1967, San Jacinto , and the ITT Technical Institute where he received a diploma of Computer Aided Drafting and Design. Doug married the love of his life, Dianna Tichenor, on 18, 1975. Together they raised their children first in Pasadena before later becoming long-time residents of Deer Park. A kind, gentle and funny soul, Doug demonstrated a strong work ethic and enjoyed many years at Offenhauser and Schuff Steel in Houston, in addition to a period of self-employment. early years of being active in sports and finessing his bowling talent, he came to love traveling, gaming, metal detecting, and coin and stamp collecting. The passion he had for model trains as a young child only grew stronger after he retired in 2009. Doug is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Stiles of Deer Park; his daughter, Carrie Stiles of Pearland; son and daughter-in-law, Trevor and Maghan Stiles of Missouri City; youngest son, Nathan Stiles of Deer Park; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Stiles of Pasadena; and half-sister, Carolyn Frieden of McDonald, Tennessee. Nephew, Brad Stiles of Las Vegas; niece, Mindy Stiles of Houston; several very special sisters-in-law and their husbands; numerous friends and other extended family are additionally left to cherish his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Capital Campaign at Deer Park United Methodist Church where Doug was a member or to Friendswood Animal Advocates in recognition of Bandit and Gracie, his beloved feline family members. Visitation will occur on , 14, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grand View in Pasadena. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Obituary: Dorothy Jean (McNeely) Stiles, age 81, entered into eternal life on 20, 2015, after a brief illness. Dorothy was born on 2, 1933 at Cisco, Texas, to parents Winfrey H. and Jessie Mae (Volker) McNeely. graduating from Corpus Christi Roy Miller High School she was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Bobby Stiles, at the Methodist Church of Corpus Christi. This union would last 64 years, interrupted only by her passing. Dorothy soon became an Air Force wife, faithfully following Bobby on his various assignments around the world. Along the way they became the parents of three daughters and one son. saw many wonderful sights together, her favorite being Okinawa. Dorothy and Bobby's last duty assignment was at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, where they decided to finally put down roots in 1970. While in San Angelo Dorothy began her career teaching special needs children, which brought her great personal and professional satisfaction. She truly loved helping mentor the children, and retired after 17 years of dedicated service. Dorothy also served many years as district manager for the Sarah Coventry Jewelry . Dorothy also dedicated herself to her family, various hobbies and organizations. She enjoyed cake decorating, so much so that she taught cake decorating classes at San Angelo State University. She also loved sewing and fancy embroidering, making numerous special gifts for her family and friends. Dorothy was an avid member of the women's chapter of the American Vietnam Veterans Association as well as the TOPS dietary management club, where she served as president for one year. Dorothy considered many TOPS members close friends. She was a faithful member of the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in San Angelo as well. Dorothy Jean was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Bobby; sister Virginia Lee Land of San Antonio, Texas; children: Katherine (Robert) Hargrove of Canton, Texas, Linda (Pat) Wade of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy (Rudi) Wallace of Midland, Texas, and Robert (Gwen) Stiles of Huntington Woods, Michigan; grandchildren: Stacey (Lio) Obregon, Stephen Hargrove, Robert Hillin, Daniel Hillin, Nicholas Wallace, and Benjamin Stiles; great-grandchildren: Carson Obregon, Emma Obregon, Danae Hargrove, Aydan Hargrove; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and best friend Louise Rhodes; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Family visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on , 23, 2015 at Johnsons . Church service is at 11:00 a.m. on , 24, 2015 at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church with Rev. Services are pending at this time. Donald Stiles, 80, died 3, 2015 in Bedford, Texas. Burial will be at Dawson, Iowa with a family memorial service to be held at a later date. Don was born on 11, 1934 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to Lloyd Amos and Louise (Jones) Stiles. Don began his school years in the one room Orange Township country school near Coon Rapids. In 1940, his parents purchased a farm northwest of Dawson and Don became a Dawson Bulldog. He graduated from Dawson High School with the class of 1951. Don accepted Jesus into his life while he was still in his teens. Don was an only child but always felt part of a large extended family as Lloyds siblings Dean, Verne, Wayne, Merle, Bertha, Paul and Darwin Stiles as well as Louises sister, Helen Jones, were frequent visitors on the farm during Dons early years. Don was the eldest of the many first cousins soon to follow. Following high school, Don joined the US Navy Reserve and was called to active duty aboard the USS Salem. In 1958, Don and Phyllis Whisler were married in Perry Iowa. were the parents of daughters, Deanea and Donna, and years later welcomed son-in-law Matthew Johnston into their family. Together Don and Phyllis shared a good life, worked side by side on the family farms and raised their daughters just across the road from Dons parents. The home farms became the backdrop for family gatherings and memories throughout the years. Upon retirement, Don and Phyllis lived in Rippey and later in Jefferson. When Phylliss health declined, they moved to Coon Rapids. were married almost 51 years when Phyllis passed away in 2009. In 2013, Don moved to Bedford Texas where he spent his final years. Don and Phyllis partnered with Lloyd and Louise in Stiles and Sons Livestock and Grain. Don was proud to receive a soil conservation award for innovative farming practices. Don and Phyllis shared an avid interest in family genealogy. Don enjoyed writing and contributed to several family genealogy publications over the years. He became a lifetime member of the Stiles Family in America Association. Don was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Korean War Veterans Association. He loved to travel and his journey through life allowed him to sail the seas, visit several continents, islands, and many states. Don was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his uncles and aunts. He is survived by daughters Deanea of West Des Moines Iowa and Donna (Matt) Johnston of Euless Texas; sister-in-laws Lois Pompe of Slater, Joyce Armstrong of Ames, Peggy Whisler of Corona California, and Rita Revelle of West Valley City Utah; Aunt Lillian Petty of Statesboro, Georgia; nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. |
