Obituary: Edwin Lee Stasney passed away on 17, 2015 at Oak Bend Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 92. He was born May 28, 1922 in Praha, Texas. It was there that Edwin met Sophie Rose Olsovsky. married and were blessed with each others companionship for a remarkable sixty-seven years. Mr. Stasney served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S Army Air Forces during WWII as a crew chief on the B-24 Liberators 780th Bombardment Squadron. He was proud that none of the planes that he was a mechanic on ever went down during fighting. Edwin participated in the Pantanella, Italy and North Africa campaigns. the war, Edwin chose the occupation of farming, and he farmed in Beasley, Texas for many years with the support of his family. He was a third generation cotton farmer that went from dragging a pick sack to running a four-row picker. He was a member of The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and Sophie were members of St. Michaels Catholic Church. Edwin is survived by his loving wife Sophie, and his ten children: Pat Hughes and husband Donny, Frankie Stasney and wife Nancy, Kenneth Stasney and wife Janet, Bobby Stasney and wife Jeanette, Ronnie Stasney and wife Nancy, George Stasney and wife Debra, Shirley Sykora and husband Larry, Kathy Howard and husband John David, Lynette Kovarcik and husand John and Douglas Stasney. He is also survived by his brother Joe George Stasney, and his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, John & Polly Olsovsky, Ben & Shirley Olsovsky, Georgia Matusek, Elaine Olsovsky and Rosie Olsovsky. He is known as Popo to 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He also has a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, E.J. and Phillipine Stasney, his brother-in-laws, Frank Olsovsky, Charlie Olsovsky and Joe Matusek, his sister-in-laws, Agnes Olsovsky and Anastasia Stasney. Edwin enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop in the morning and tending to his fruit and pecan trees and chickens. His most beloved hobby was fishing. He delighted in talking about his WWII experience, fishing stories, and debating politics. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his family, especially his cousins, the Rohans and the Holubs. His greatest pride was his wife and their family. He left a legacy of hard-work, the meaning and importance of family, pride in serving ones country, and the significance of the Czech heritage. Visitation will be 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Needville, Tx. services will be held on , 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Needville, Tx. Interment will be at Greenlawn , Rosenberg, Tx. Pallbearers will be Edwins sons. Honorary Pallbearers are The American Legion Post 350. Obituary: Andrew Francis Stasio, one of the Lords children, passed away on 1, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Born 11, 1917 in New York and graduated from Norwich University where he was inducted into its Hall of Honor. Andy came to Texas with Army Exchange after World War II. A life-long restaurateur Andy brought Big Boy restaurants, Shakeys Pizza, and other food concepts to Texas. Andy was a president of the Texas Restaurant Association, Outstanding Restaurateur in Texas & in its Hall of Fame. His last restaurant was Slider & Blues where he loved to greet his customers and support local community activities like Hillcrest High School sports teams. He served on the Board of Governors of Northwood Institute; Knights of Columbus, Order of Malta, and was a president of Kiwanis, Golf Executives, and many other charitable organizations. He was a member of Exchange Club. Andy helped found an orphanage in Italy and was awarded the Hope Humanitarian Award from International, where he served as a trustee of the Foundation. Andy was on the Board of Holy Angels School in Shreveport; and founded the Taste of Shreveport to support Holy Angels School for the retarded. Andy was a sports fan; attending every home game of the Cowboys and Mavericks from the teams founding to 2008 when poor health ended his attendance. He was a devoted Rangers fan and season ticket holder. Visitation for Andy will be from 6-8 pm on , 4, 2010 with services on , 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel. Andy was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann, and survived by his wife, Norma; children, Drew & his wife Trudy, and Steve & his wife Mary; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. Obituary: Donald "Ned" Startzel, age 98 of Dallas, Texas passed away on morning, 29, 2017 in Dallas. Ned was born on 6, 1918 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, a son of Charles Donald and Iva (Crone) Startzel. He married Frances Hubbard on 24, 1945. She preceded him in death on 3, 1965. He later married Mary Elsie Scheske in the summer of 1968. Ned is survived by his wife Elsie Startzel of Dallas, Texas, two daughters: Susan (Joe Pat) Hennen of Denton, Texas, and Elizabeth (Doug) Brown of Edom, Texas, and stepdaughters Karla Greer of San Antonio and Allison Seils of Parker, Colorado. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Frances and Whitney, and two great granddaughters, Corina and Clementine. A private graveside service will be held at Restland in Dallas, Texas. Sparkman Richardson has charge of arrangements. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on , 11, 2017 at 11:15 AM at the King of Glory Lutheran Church located at 6411 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75240. Ned served his country in the United States Air Force and attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas. He was a proud Penn State Nittany Lion alumni. He retired at age 55 from Moore Business Forms. Ned was a resident of Brookdale Preston, member of Rotary Club downtown Dallas, Rotary Chorus, founder of Dallas Senior Follies which he still preformed in, oldest delivery volunteer in Dallas Meals on Wheels, and extensive mentoring programs. Ned's love of music drove his life, and also his passion for volunteerism and giving back to his community.
