Obituary: Wade Starr, 87, of Dallas passed away on , 2, 2015 at a local Dallas hospital. He will always be remembered as a generous, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born in Dallas, Texas on 27, 1928 to Luther and Alice Rutledge Starr. his fathers death in 1937, his mother married M. D. (Bob) Holston with whom he enjoyed a close father-son relationship. His mother and step-father owned A&B Transfer and Storage and he began working in the business at an early age. He graduated from Jesuit Preparatory School in 1946. He attended Southern Methodist University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (with a major in Accounting) in 1949 and a Juris Doctorate in 1963. He received his license to practice Law in 1963 and continued to practice in the firm of Goodstein & Starr, P. C. until his retirement 1, 1996. He served in the U. S. Naval Reserve from 23, 1948 until 6, 1953 when he enlisted in the U. S. Navy for active duty. He was honorably discharged 29, 1954. His passion for photography and swimming began in his youth. In later years, it would include family history and genealogical research. In his retirement years, much of his time was devoted to working with several genealogical societies. He published a book of photos, testimonials and family history dedicated to his maternal grandmother Mary Magdeline McAlister. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and just spending time at his condo on the Texas Coast. Survivors include his wife Joy Turner Star; daughters: Ann Conner and Dana Bates (husband Leland); grandchildren: Michael Wade, Erin, Meghan and Drew Conner, Nikki Crocker and Taylor Bates; great grandchildren: Morgan Conner, Katlyn and Kai Crocker, Austin and Garrett Hill, Preston Bates; brother-in-law Don Turner, sister-in-law Edwina Dye; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father. A Service will be at 2:00 pm on , 8, 2015 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on , 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Obituary: Francisca Bernal Starr, age 94, of San Antonio, TX died 4, 2011. The Lord has taken her to heaven. She was very strong physically and mentally. At the age of 5 her mother died, her father was a musician and she was left to care for herself and 2 baby sisters. During her twenties both her sisters died one of appendicitis and the other of pneumonia. Francisca was a hard working woman; she worked picking cotton as one of her first jobs. Then she became a professional seamstress making military uniforms. She had three children of her own and she was known to care for other children in hard times always willing to feed and give advice to these young people. Frances liked to cook and garden, her favorite colors were green and red and her favorite holiday was Christmas. Her favorite people were Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy. In the last days she was quick to tell those who visited to take care of themselves. Francisca loved all her family. She is survived by daughters, Jennie Hernandez, Tomasa Garza Bigelow; daughter-in-law, Delia Lozano, 15 grandchildren 40 great grand-children, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Obituary: Edward Lewis Starr, age 79, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on 17, 2015 with the love of his family surrounding him. Edward was born in East Bernard, Texas on 15, 1935 to Edward Lewis Starr, Sr. and Alice (Oatman) Starr. Growing up, he was raised knowing grades were of the upmost importance and following high school graduation; Edward attended the University of Texas in Austin and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1958. Six years later, Edward exchanged wedding vows with Mary Fritz on 26, 1964 in Fredericksburg, Texas. The two passed on meaningful values to their three daughters: celebrate holidays and birthdays with your family and instill responsibility in your children. Edward was a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Lyda, Boyd, Starr and Wilson and had his own CPA practice in Austin, Texas for over 33 years. He worked hard, saved money, avoided debt and worked toward early retirement. Of course that was possible through his philosophy on education: study hard, make good grades, and pursue your dreams. He lived his life on biblical principles and values, such as: ask for Gods help, read Gods word, choose a Christian spouse, accept Jesus and make him your Lord and Savior, tithe to the Lord, and pray for your children and grandchildren. Edward attended the Tree of Life Church in Pflugerville, Texas. He will be greatly missed, yet his philosophy on life and the values he taught will live on for generations to come. To cherish his memory, Edward leaves behind his wife, Mary Starr of Georgetown; daughters: Monica Lawrence and husband Steve of Hutto, Kimberly Leff and husband Ben of Cedar Park, and Patricia Dawe of Austin, Texas; mother-in-law, Gertrude Fritz; grandsons: Philip Lawrence, Joshua and Lucas Dawe; and granddaughters: Hailey and Nicole Leff. Edward was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial donations may be made to Harvest House, P.O. Box 1675 Arvada, CO 80001, or the American Cancer Society.
