Obituary: Ms. Judith Ann Judy Staley, daughter of the late Louis Henry and Lynette Meyer, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was born 16, 1940 in Houston Texas. She grew up in Harris with her parents, brothers, and sister. As an infant, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, was later confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, and she recently recommitted her faith. She graduated from Lutheran High School. Judy was married for a time to William Staley and was blessed with two sons, Curtis and Michael. For most of her adult life Judy worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Prudential. While employed she proved to be a very valuable and respected asset. Her career was very important to her and she never failed to go above and beyond the call of duty. She took several years off work, but when she decided to return she went back full force. Even after years off, she was still an important team member for the company that she worked for and all her co-workers requested and appreciated her help and advice. She had a way of not only doing her job but finding ways to make the job easier for everyone. As serious as Judy took her career she took her family and friends just as seriously, if not more so. Anyone who knew her knew how much she loved her boys and that she would do anything to help them anytime they needed. It wasn only her sons she went out of her way to help. When her father was sick she, along with her brothers and sister, helped daily to make sure he got the care he deserved. When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease Judy took early retirement from her career at Prudential to stay home and personally care for her mother. When her brother Harold was sick, she was constantly there for him. There were many neighbors whose lives were better off for having her there to help them, even when she herself was not in good health. Judy was an incredibly strong, confident, and passionate woman who loved to share her opinions, especially if it had to do with politics. She never let anything get in the way of who she was or what she wanted. Judy was an avid reader and more than anything valued education. She took great joy in family gatherings where she could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and, more recently, her great grandchildren. Judy quietly departed this life on the afternoon of 27, 2017 in Tomball Texas at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harold Meyer She will forever live on in the memories of her sister Carolyn Schlobohm Cassels and husband David, her brother Louis Henry Meyer and wife Carlene, her children Curtis Staley and Michael Staley, her grandchildren Patricia Shaw and husband Daniel, Christopher Staley and wife ina, Christina Malloy and husband Steven, Joshua Staley, her great grandchildren Christopher, Preston, Gabrielle, Wyatt, Michael, and Amelia, and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. |

Obituary: Janice M. “Jan” Staley, 76, of Paris, passed away , 26, 2017. Bright-Holland has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. , 28th, at Restland in Roxton with Rev. Ken Cannon & Rev. Robert Myre officiating. A formal visitation is not scheduled, however, those wishing to pay respects may visit the funeral home. Mrs. Staley, the daughter of Louis Frank & Willie M. Wood Smith, was born 2, 1941, in Delta . She worked at Westinghouse before becoming a realtor. Jan was in real estate for many years in the Paris area and had been a member of the Paris Board of Realtors. Jan was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Paris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Stacey Staley, two brothers, K. B. Smith and Rayford Keen and two sisters, Cloteen Johnson and Valorie Taliferro. Survivors include her husband, Billy E. Staley, whom she married on May 20, 1960, in Deport building fifty-seven years of family and memories. Jan is also survived by many extended family members and a host of friends. |
