Obituary: Charles Edward Stainer (Charlie) died after a short bout with pneumonia at 11:15 pm on 10, 2013 in Frisco, Texas at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, sons Charles Edward Stainer III, James Dale Stainer, stepsons Jeffrey Alan Hanson, Timothy Lee Hanson, Bradley Jay Hanson, (10) grandchildren, and (4) great-grandchildren. Charlies daughter Esther Stainer Walner preceded him in death. Charlie was born on 9th, 1925 in Little Rock, Ark and was adopted by Charles Edward Stainer Sr. and Lena Phillips Stainer, at the age of 11 months. Charlie graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943 and soon volunteered for military service in the Navy. He was chosen to be part of the Navys new Top Secret Radar program and was stationed on the USS Lexington (CV-16). He spent almost a year on this carrier but was transferred to the USS Yorktown after the Lexington was hit and needed repairs. On the Yorktown, Charlie met long-time friend and fellow Radar Man Ed Brand. the war, he left the Navy and pursued an education at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma where he completed a Bachelors in Divinity. Although he was ordained by the church, he never accepted a call to serve a congregation. He went back to school to complete a Masters Degree in Education but fell short by just 6 hours of completing his degree. Charlie married his first wife Betty and they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1958 where they raised their 3 children and Charlie worked supporting the North American Radar Network as a civilian employee for the Air Force. Charlie was an active member of his church and led a Boy Scout troop as Scout Master. In 1976, Charlie and Betty divorced and on 30th, 1977, Charlie married Carol Hanson. In 1980 they moved to the Houston area where Charlie took a job with the University of Houston. In 1992 he retired from the U of H and with his wife Carol moved to Spicewood Texas where he enjoyed his Golden Years building his 30 foot by 30 foot garage (man cave), overseeing the construction of the Blue Bonnet Inn, and volunteering at Genesis Lutheran Church. During this time, he was a key lay leader of the church acting as sound engineer and Elder a severe fall and time in the hospital, Charlie and Carol decided to move to Dallas to be closer to Carols son Brad and his family. Charlie and Carol moved to Little Elm Texas in 2007 and found a new church home at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton TX. His church and Christian friends were a very important part of his life. Charlie enjoyed traveling and had a special place in his heart for the hills of Branson, Missouri. He and Carol loved to visit historic places and family throughout the United States. In the last 2 years of his life he and Carol opened their home to Jeffrey, Carols son, who was ill and no longer able to live alone. Obituary: O.J. Stainback, 89, of Tyler, passed away on , 3, 2015 in Tyler. Oddie Junior Stainback was born on 5, 1925 in Bullard. He grew up in the Bullard community. Following school he worked for Tyler Pipe and Gardner & Denver in Dallas. His welding work took him to Detroit, working on the pipeline; before returning to Texas about a year later, when he went to work for Cooper Industries, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, baseball, basketball, telling jokes and cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Cora Stainback; wife, Edna Mae Stainback; son, Dana Alan Stainback; siblings, Leo, Tommy and William Stainback, as well as, Leona Stainback Davis, Iva Stainback Alford, Juanita Stainback Cooper and Melba Stainback Pate. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Knight and her husband, Jerial of Troup; grandson, Shawn Dawkins and his wife, Linda of Fort Worth; daughter-in-law, Vickie Stainback of Chandler; grandson, Chad Alan Stainback of Leonard; great grandson, Brady Stainback; special friends, Leo and Vivian Britton, Wayne and Brenda Ezernack, Carolyn Chapman and numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: Morgan A. Stainback, 90, died on 17, 2010. Born in Texarkana, Arkansas on 22, 1920, and raised mostly in Beaumont, he served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and worked for more than 30 years for Shell Oil in Bellaire, Texas. Married to Jane Voss Stainback until her death in 1995, they had two daughters, Jane Stainback Hausler and Ashley Stainback Kress. Obituary: Services for Minnie Lou Stainback, 93, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. , 21, 2015, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Dan Cozart and Bro. Bennie Portwood officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove under the direction of Lloyd James . Mrs. Stainback passed away on 18, 2015, in Tyler. She was born on 3, 1921, in Whitehouse, to the late John and Blance Stanley. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was retired from the pharmacy at Mother Frances Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Stainback; and a grandson, Spencer Scruggs. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Scruggs, of Bullard, Linda North and Ginger Wimbs; sons, Darwin, Larry and Harry Stainback, all of Whitehouse, and Michael Stainback, of Tyler; brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd Stanley; sister, Girthal Miller, all of Whitehouse; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. , 20, 2015 at the funeral home. |
