Obituary: Milton Vance Spencer, born 1, 1909, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather died peacefully on 24, 2002. He was a lifelong resident of San Antonio and a descendant of the Canary Island Curbelo family who were some of the original settlers of San Antonio in 1731. In 1932 he married Dorothy Hissner and had one daughter, Mary ÂMaidie Spencer Liebmann. He was educated in San Antonio at Texas Military Institute and then attended The University of the South where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. college he returned to San Antonio to work for the National Bank of Commerce before entering the family business A.B. Spencer Lumber . serving in World War II as a U.S. Air Force Major he became active in the oil and gas industry in South Texas and remained in the industry until his death. In 1976 he married Margaret DuCharme LeFevre to whom he remained married until her death in 1994. Milton was an avid hunter making many trips to Canada and Africa. He was an active supporter of Boysville, Mission Road Foundation and Father FlanaganÂs BoyÂs . He was a past president of the San Antonio German Club and a member of St. Hubertus Club, Pilon Dinner Club, SAR, and Merry Knights, Sons of the Republic of Texas, San Antonio Country Club and the Conopus Club. Milton was preceded in death by his mother Mary Vance Spencer, his Father Alexander Burke Spencer and his brother Alexander Burke Spencer Jr. He is survived by his sister Josephine ÂPimmie Tucker, daughter, Maidie Spencer Liebmann two grandsons Robert E. Rigney Jr. and wife Elizabeth, M. Spencer Rigney and wife Sissy, five grandchildren Nathan Rigney, Julia Rigney, Sara Rigney, Meredith Rigney and Mallory Rigney, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Ellie Munoz, Henrietta Hernandez and Fema Luna for their long time loyalty and care as well as the staff of Manor Facility. |

Obituary: Mary Athanas Spencer, 98, of San Angelo, passed away 6, 2016. She was born in Temple, Texas on May 7, 1918. Mary graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1936 and married James Leslie Spencer on 17, 1942. Mary worked as a manager for Stadium Lanes for 32 years. She was a member of the San Angelo Womens Bowling Association, and had a passion for people and bowling. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Bea Athanas and Joann Chakos and 1 great grandchild. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Beverly Renken and George T. Spencer; grandchildren, Leslie C. Renken, Jodi Estes, Steven C. Spencer, Laura E. Monette, Jerry Spencer, Shawna M. Pena, Christon Spencer, Athynna Spencer; and 13 great grandchildren. Obituary: SPENCER Mary Ruth Spencer of San Antonio, age 97, died, , 20, 2002. Mrs. Spencer was one of the Charter Members at Esplanade Gardens, and participated in most activities. Mary Ruth Sipple was born in Noblesville, Indiana, about 25 miles from Indianapolis. She, her two sisters and parents lived on a farm. In 1936, Robert Earl Spencer and Mary Ruth were married. Mr. & Mrs. Spencer were both employed at Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical . One of her sisters was also employed there. Most of their married life was spent in Indianapolis. Robert passed away in 1961. One of Mary RuthÂs fondest memories is standing on the roof and watching Charles Lindberg fly over near the beginning of his famous flight. Mary Ruth and her sister began traveling together after both became widows. In the beginning they spent their winters in the Rio Grande Valley, then began visiting San Antonio where her cousin Marva Jane Cooper lived. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Spencer.
