Obituary: Beatrice Nunez Solorio, 83, born on May 10,1931, deceased on 13, 2014.

A devoted mother and grandmother who loved to be with her family.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Rolando Solorio Sr., her parents, Jesus & Victoria Nunez, and her granddaughter, Baby Mary Solorio.

She is survived by her brother, Jesse Nunez, her sister-in-law, Isabel Nunez, and her six children: Yolanda & Orlando Garza, Roland Solorio Jr., Jesse & Mary Solorio, Irene & Gilbert Hernandez, Felipe Solorio, and Rebecca & Robert Garamillo Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & great nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 5-9pm, with a rosary at 7pm, on , 17, 2014, at Forest Park Lawndale in the Main Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 11am on , 18, 2014, at Forest Park Lawndale .

The family would like to thank Maria Mendoza for the endless love and care she gave our mother/grandmother over the past 10+ years.

Obituary: Penelope Penny Solomos of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on 14, 2014. She was born 10, 1930, in Xirokambi, Greece, to parents Elias and Stavroula Stavrakos. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eric, and her brother John Stavrakos.

Penny leaves behind her loving daughter, Helen. She is survived by her brother Louis Stavrakos and wife Politimi; nephews John Stavrakos, Theodore Stavrakos, wife Anna and family; sister in law Maria Stavrakos; sister in law and brother in law Barbara and Frank Hagan; nephew Joseph Zwicker, wife Maggie and family, and many dear friends.

Penny met and married her husband, Eric, in 1949 when he worked for the US Government for the Restoration of Greece after WWII.

Coming to the United States in 1950, they made their home in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 1959, they moved to Houston and became members of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

She worked many years in Alterations at both Sakowitz and Neiman-Marcus Department Stores before retiring in 1995. She then spent her time tending to her garden and volunteering at church where she was active in many projects such as the Greek Festival, dyeing Easter Eggs, making Prosforo for Services, and preparing Kollyva for Memorial Services. She was also very involved with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Penny received great satisfaction in her volunteer work and was beloved by all.

Penny was a life member of American Legion Post 77; life member of VFW Post 5619; life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary James T. Hall Chapter 9; and life member of the Texas LST Association. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of Penelope, Achaia Chapter 54; The Philoptochos Society; and the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral Senior Citizen's Group.

Family visitation will be held , 21, 2014, from 5:00-7:00pm with the Trisagion Service 6:30pm at Earthman , 6700 Ferris St., Houston, Texas. services will be held , 22, 2014, 10:00am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd., Houston, Texas, 77006. Interment Service will be held , 23, 2014, 10:00am, at the Houston National , 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77038.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Citizen's Group at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Obituary: Sidney Pike Solomonson Jr. was born on 24, 1918 in Atlanta, Georgia to Sidney Pike Solomonson Sr. and Jeanette Solomonson.
In 1920 the Solomonsons moved to Dallas, Texas where Sid Sr. started the Dixie Disinfectant Co., in which four generations of Solomonsons eventually worked and built their family based business.
Sidney Solomonson Jr. attended Bradfield Elementary School in the Highland Park area of Dallas, and went to become the Valedictorian of Highland Park High School. He then received a Chemical Engineering degree from Rice University, and returned to Dallas to join Sid Sr. in running Dixie, the family business.
In 1939 Sid married Minnie Feferman from Amarillo, Texas and had their first son, Gerald in 1940. Sid was drafted into WWII where he served at the Battle of the Bulge, and received two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for acts of valor, saving fellow soldiers in acts of heroism that he performed. the War, recuperating from frostbite, in Paris he was able to document the post war time with a photo album that started his favorite hobby other than fishing, in which he left behind multiple volumes of photography for his family and friends to re-visit a life of cityscapes, landscapes, friends, and travels. Upon returning from Europe, he rejoined the family business, and in 1947 had Stanley, his second child.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, achieving the 32nd Degree, and was active in the Scottish Rite. While building the core chemical manufacturing and distribution business, Sid branched into waste management with the acquisition of Texas Industrial Disposal Inc, (TIDI), the Dallas trash transport company which Sid later sold TIDI to Waste Management.
Always wanting to spend time with the growing family, and enjoy new vistas, catch more fishing time, after selling Dixie, Sid and Minnie made the move to Padre Island. Minnie became the Judge, then Mayor of So. Padre, while Sid enjoyed being the "Captain".
He is survived by a loving family of two sons, Gerald and Stanley, four grandchildren, Stacey, Mindy, Andrea, and Adam, and five great grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Sophia, Lauren, and Gabriel. Donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals

Henry Louis Solomonson, Jr., of San Antonio, Texas died , 24, 2001, at the age of 92. He was born to Elsa Kullman Solomonson and Henry Louis Solomonson, Sr. in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was in the Naval ROTC. becoming an Eagle Scout, he was an outstanding Scoutmaster. He received the Beck Award in Scouting for jumping into a lake to save a drowning boy. Henry was always interested in aviation. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1932 in the first class of the Guggenheim School of Aeronautical Engineering. His love of flight resulted in his obtaining his pilotÂs license in 1940. Henry served our country during World War II by working on aircraft carriers at Puget Sound Naval Yard in Washington state. World War II, he began working with our countryÂs space program, eventually moving to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. He retired as Nuclear Coordinator of the Army Antimissile Defense Program in 1973. Henry loved sports, especially tennis, fishing and golf. His interest in gardening and photography were life-long pursuits. He enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to see many parts of our world. He devoted his time and energy to numerous civic and charitable organizations. He was a Mason for 56 years and a Shriner for 44 years. Henry was a past president of Temple BÂ ai Sholom, Huntsville, Alabama. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Elks, Kiwanis and Lions in Huntsville. moving to San Antonio in 1984, Henry co-founded the Scottish Rite Learning of South Texas. The Masons dyslexia program is used by San Antonio school districts to help children with special needs. He was a member of the Alzafar Shrine Temple, Masonic-Helion Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M., Huntsville, AL, KCCH, Honorary Member of National Sojourners, Blue Lodge and Temple Beth El. Henry moved to San Antonio in 1984 to be near his children and grandchildren; his happiest times were those spent with his family. For 39 years, he was married to his first wife, Helen Elaine Lichten Solomonson, who passed away in 1980. His second wife, Bernice Gideon Solomonson passed away this year. His sister, Louise Solomonson Rosen and her husband, Louis Rosen, preceded him in death. Henry is survived by his children, Nancy and Barry Portnoy, San Antonio; grandchildren, Stephanie Portnoy and fiancée, Cleo Li, Austin, TX, Susan and Paul Epner, Austin, TX, Stephanie and David Portnoy, Dallas, TX. HenryÂs three very cherished great-granddaughters are Jordan Taylor Portnoy, Alexis Elaine Portnoy and Allison Josie Epner. Obituary: Truman Wesley Solomon entered the gates of Heaven at the age of 69, on 11, 2010.

Truman was born 17, 1941, in Sidney, Texas to Berl and Maggie Solomon. He graduated from Monahans High School. He worked for many years at the Firestone Test in Ft. Stockton, Texas and retired from Texaco Oil and Gas in Odessa. He was a very active member of Northside Baptist Church. He volunteered at MCH with the MCH auxiliary.

Truman was an avid cyclist and was known by many for his love of cycling, competing in many rides. Many may not know him by name but are familiar with his bright yellow Recumbent.

He is preceded in death by his father, Berl Solomon and brother, Mickey Dale Solomon.

He is survived by wife, Dolores Hobson Solomon; daughters, Delaine and husband Kevin Jones of Odessa and Wesley Rose of Addison, Texas; 5 grandchildren Sarah, Rebekah and Stephen Jones all of Odessa, Mitch Rose of Addison, Texas and Kaitlyn Rose of Odessa; mother of his children Delores Collins Solomon; mother Maggie Phillips of Monahans, Texas; 2 sisters Judy McClanahan and husband Dick of Monahans, Texas; and Cathy Lancaster and husband Kenny of Abilene, Texas; 1 brother Harlan Solomon and wife Sissy of Monahans, Texas; extended family and step children, Mike Hobson of San Angelo, Texas and Dale Hobson of Odessa.


Visitation for family and friends will be , 13, 2010 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Directors, 4635 Oakwood Drive, Odessa, Texas.

Services for Mr. Solomon are , 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church of Odessa with the Rev. Clydel Chapman, officiating. Interment will follow at the Monahans Memorial , Monahans, Texas.

The family would like to thank the First Responders of the Odessa Fire Department; Medical Staff in the E. R. and I.C.U. of Medical Hospital; the staff at Hospice House of Odessa and for all the many visits and prayers from our friends during this time.

Truman was a gentle man, a wonderful husband, father, grandad and friend.

Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Directors.
