One of the greatest joys in Carols life was her love for living in the country and gardening. Obituary: Nelda Wynn Soben, beloved wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt, friend and prayer warrior went to be with Jesus 12, 2011. She was born to Lenora and Jack Wynn in Natchez, Mississippi on 15, 1955. Nelda graduated from Quachita High School in Monroe, LA. high school she worked as an administrative assistant for a private airline, while attending the University of LA Monroe where she graduated with a bachelors degree in physical education. Nelda was an educator in Arlington, TX. In the fall of 1984, Nelda met the love of her life, Gary Soben. Nelda and Gary married that and she joined him in Abilene, where she continued her career teaching. resided in Abilene, Texas from 1984-2010 where they raised their children, were active in The Good News Neighborhood Club, Rotary International, Emmaus, and several other philanthropic organizations. Nelda is survived by husband Gary and children Laura and Lee Gonzales of Fort Worth, Wes and Holly Soben of Abilene, Sadie and Kevin Powell of Wilmington, NC and grandchildren Davis and London Soben, and Merrick Powell. Nelda is also survived by her mother Lenora Wynn of Monroe, LA, her sister Gayle Harper of Hernando, FL, and nieces Wendy Waldroup and Wimberly Mills both of Arlington, and aunt Mona Thompson of Benton, LA. She is preceeded in death by her father Jack Wynn and granddaughter Faith Soben. Obituary: Services for Thelma Sobel, 91, of Tyler, are scheduled for , May 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Lloyd James with Rabbi Alan Learner officiating. Burial will be in Ahavath Achim . Mrs. Sobel passed away on , May 20, 2015, in Tyler. She was a lifelong member of Ahavath Achim Synagogue, where she was a member of the sisterhood, Haddasah, and was always ready to help prepare food or assist with whatever was needed for the many events in the community. She was born in Tyler on 31, 1924. Mrs. Sobel worked at Camp Fannin during World War II. She met her husband, Hershel, in 1948 and they were married three months later. were merchants for more than 50 years in Tyler as owners of Sobel's AAA Floor Co. Thelma worked side by side with her husband and both were well respected in the community. She was an officer in the Soroptimist Club which provided a camp for handicapped children and was a longtime volunteer for Meals On Wheels. She remained active in her later years by participating in water aerobics, bowling, mahjong and book club. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sobel was preceded in death by her brother, Max Fleischmann and sisters, Ruth Waghalter and Ann Lidell. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Sobel and son-in-law, Daryl Havens, Ferndale, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Sean Benson, San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Felice and David Silverberg, Grand Prairie; and grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica Silverberg. Pallbearers are Allan Waghalter, Stanley Waghalter, Craig Lidell, Mark Lidell, Ira Kaplan, Sam Roosth, Sean Benson, David Silverberg and honorary pallbearer, Barry Jacobs. Obituary: Richard C Dick Soares was born to the late Charles and Helen Soares on 14, 1930 in Conneaut, Ohio, and died on 9, 2012 at the age of 81. Dick graduated from Conneaut High School and attended the Colorado School of Mines until enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent two years in the Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, before returning to school and earning a degree as Engineer of Mines. Dick first worked briefly for U.S. Gypsum Co. in Southard, OK, before transferring to their plant in New Braunfels, TX, where he met and married Phyllis Elaine Foy in of 1956. In 1957, he was hired by Whites Mines where he eventually became President, Chairman of the Board and CEO. In 1987, Whites Mines was acquired by Vulcan Materials where Dick subsequently served as the Southwest Division President until retirement in 1991. Dick enjoyed sports, hunting, reading and spending time at the family ranch in Uvalde . He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, and his sister Patricia Soares. He is survived by his son, Richard Soares Jr. of San Antonio, brother in law Bill Foy and wife Trudy of Harker Heights, nephews Bryan Foy and wife Betty of Schertz, Stephen Foy and wife Beth of New London, NH, and six great nieces and nephews. Obituary: LIGORIO FRANCIS SOARES went to his Heavenly home on 12, 2016 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. He was married to the love of his life, Bernadette for 61 years, and they had six children - late Maria Mussenden (George), Cedric (Josephine), Bosco, Noella, Jacinta (Scott) and Cynthia and six grandchildren - Bradley, Robin, Andrew, Matthew, Marissa and Zachary. Ligorio was born in Karachi (pre-partition India) on 21 , 1928 and remained there after the partition from India. He moved to Sydney, Australia in 1986, and then to Houston, Texas in 1993. He has since been a resident of Meadows Place, TX and a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. In Karachi, Ligorio was an active member of the Karachi Catholic Young Mens Club and other catholic and other community organizations in the Archdiocese of Karachi. He was a long time member of the Karachi Serra Club and also served as its President. He later joined the STA Knights of Columbus when he moved to Houston. Ligorio was the epitome of what it means to be a great husband, a loving father and grandfather. He always put others before him, was willing to volunteer or lend a helping hand and assist others in any way he could, and never let setbacks or failures stop him from smiling. He had a passion for music, and played the violin in a local orchestra. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Davis Greenlawn 3900 B F Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Following that, there will be a reception at The Aquinas , St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. |
