Obituary: George E. Sneed was born on Nov. 28, 1941, to Walter W. and Anna Lee (Mooney) Sneed in Los Angeles, CA and died on Jan. 5, 2015 in Austin, TX. George spent many happy summers with his grandparents in the San Joaquin Valley. The family then moved to Dallas, TX in 1951. George joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17. attending Marine Boot Camp in San Diego, CA and infantry training at Camp Pendleton, George spent six months at the Naval Communications School at Imperial Beach. George then served with the Naval Security Group at Kami Seya, Japan, from 1959 to 1962. During that period, he received the highest possible conduct and proficiency ratings for five consecutive periods and was recommended five times to attend Officer Candidate School. George also qualified each year as an expert rifleman. He was selected to participate in two special missions to Tatar Straits and the Sea of Okhotsk aboard the submarines USS Ronquil and USS Greenfish. He then received an honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal in 1962, attended the University of Texas at Arlington, and graduated with a degree in History, with a second major in English and a minor in Philosophy. While attending UTA, he worked full time for Complete Auto Transports, Texas & Pacific Transportation and United Transports. Upon graduation, George served at several of United Transports terminals, including New Orleans, LA, where he met the love of his life, Patricia, at a church social. he was transferred to Uniteds home office in Oklahoma City, OK, Patricia became his wife and her two children, Paul and Heather, became his children in 1977, and he loved each of them with all of his heart. George became the Director of Operations Control for United in 1980, having risen from the position of junior clerk to that of Director. United was purchased by another company, George resigned and enrolled in the Oklahoma City University School of Law. He worked his way through law school as a Research Assistant for Justice Doolin of the Oklahoma Supreme Court and Judge Parks of the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals. George graduated first in his night school class in 1988 with a Doctorate in Law and practiced oil and gas law until he became the General Counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Commerce in 2001. Unfortunately, George had been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in 1999. In 2002, he began having a series of surgeries and hospitalizations for pneumonia and was thus unable to continue his law practice; although he did do legal research and writing from home for various clients. In the fall of 2013 after Pat retired, they moved to the Austin area to be closer to their daughter and her family. George was an accomplished amateur photographer and did his own darkroom work. He enjoyed cooking and surprising his family with new recipes. He and Pat were experienced square dancers. He enjoyed going to the range with his son, and taught himself to use alternate hands when shooting firearms. He held a 1st degree Brown Belt from the Kobukan School of Jujitsu in Yokohama, Japan, a 1st degree Black Belt in Aikido and a 2nd degree Black Belt in Jyodo. He taught scripture classes at Grace United Methodist Church and had previously served as head usher until his health failed him. George is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; his daughter, Heather; her husband, Terry; and his granddaughters, Brittany and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Paul. George never fully recovered from the loss of his son but always firmly believed that they would be reunited in heaven. George loved God with all his heart, soul and mind, and loved his family in the same way. Visitation is , 10, 2015 at the Cook Walden/Capital Parks , located at 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Obituary: Doris Willhite Sneed, 92, passed away peacefully on 6, 2014. She was born on 22, 1922 to Marvin and Nora Willhite. Doris was married to her loving husband, Chadwick Brooks Sneed, Sr., for 56 years before his passing in 2005. She was a long-time resident of Oak Cliff (Kessler Park) and a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church. A long-term employee of Zale Corporation, she officed both near downtown and in Las Colinas. She and Chad loved square dancing and traveling in the U.S. Doris is survived by her son, Daniel Willhite Sneed, of Houston. Her first son, Chadwick Brooks Sneed, Jr., passed away in 2004. Obituary: Della McMullen Sneed, 76, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 8, 2015. One of four daughters, Della, her twin sister Stella, Ruth and Thelma were raised by Sylvester and Delia McMullen in Locksburg, Arkansas. She met the love of her life, Paul Sneed on a chance meeting at a dry cleaners. knew they were meant for each other and made a wonderful life together raising three beautiful children, Sylvia, Kenneth and Yolanda. Della enjoyed antiquing , the color red, anything Kitchen Aid but more than anything she enjoyed being around her family. Della has been a long-time member of Cliffwood Church of Christ. Della is preceded in death by her twin sister Stella, her sister Ruth and grandson Phillip. Della is survived by her husband Paul of 53 years, her sister Thelma Carroll, her children and their families, Sylvia Kalu, Kenneth (Jacqueline) Sneed and Yolanda Ann Sneed Gary. She is also survived by her grandchildren Andres Jackson, Ebony Curry, Jalen Sneed, Jada Sneed, Kennadi Sneed and great-grandson Kevin Williams and a host of other relatives and friends. |

Obituary: C. W. Sneed, Jr. joined his wife in Heaven on 1, 2009, at the age of 91. He was born 14, 1917, in Wells, TX, to Gladys Bailey and C.C. W. Sneed, Sr. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, and then Lon Morris in Jacksonville, where he met the love of his life. He married Mary Vivian Everett of Ponta, on May 1, 1937, and they began a seventy-year journey. The young family settled in Wells, in 1941 and he began working for Texas Foundries. He later moved to Lufkin in 1948. He moved his family to Dallas, in 1959, where he opened the Dallas office for Texas Foundries in the Meadows Building. He retired in 1980. C. W. and Mary were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Lufkin, and later transferred their membership to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. In retirement, he enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. He had a woodworking shop in his garage where he built the best pinewood-derby cars, swings and cradles. He and Mary traveled throughout the US and Canada camping with the Avalon Club. He returned to Lufkin in early 2007, to the PineCrest Community. He continued to make memories with those who knew him at Lottie Temple. He had quite a sense of humor in his old age! His family remembers that he loved his wife, enjoyed birthday parties, holidays, children and simple pleasures. He was an expert at pulling teeth and bandaging wounds. He was always ready for dominoes, but refused to play Memory. He loved to go to the lake. He taught us to work hard, and to never give up on ourselves. Education was very important to him. He is survived by four daughters and their husbands: Joan Everett and Wayne Johnson of Lufkin, Mary Jane and Bill Miles of San Antonio, Sally Ann and Robert Miller of Dallas, and Sammie Susan and Harry Moore of Richardson. He has 15 loving grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and his brother, John Sneed, of Wells. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, a beloved son, C. W. "Bud" Sneed III, also his mother, father, sister Marie and brother Robert. Services will be at Falvey Memorial Methodist Church, in Wells, on 4, at 2:00 following visitation at 1:00. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope in Wells. The family will receive visitors at Gipson on from 6 - 8.
