Obituary: Donald Ray Snapp, 79, received his promotion by our Higher Power, and is now in-charge somewhere else close by, on May 9, 2011, after a very full and happy life. Born 25, 1932, in Denver, Colorado, a fourth-generation Colorado native to the late William and Ramelle Snapp. Don attended grade school in Denver with future Apollo Astronaut Jack Swigert. Don is a USMC Veteran, having served in Paris during the Korean Conflict. A promising magician, Don performed possibly his greatest trick while attending University of Colorado at Boulder. Don magically feigned a need for utoring in his freshman accounting class. Don and the love of his life, Alice Carol Blome, of Dallas, were wed on 15, 1961. Together, they had two sons that picked up on Dons good habits for hard work, meticulous organization, devotion to family and servant leadership. Don worked at Public Service of Colorado, starting as a cashier and ending as the materials management division manager. Although Don never played a round of golf, he was recognized by both staff and press for his vast Logo Golf Ball Collection. Dons employees had drawers full of paper, documents and work items; their boss had golf balls - hundreds of golf balls. Don always said his staff knew more than he did about what they were doing, but he knew more about what everyone needed to do. One of Dons achievements was being instrumental in the building of the Materials Distribution for Public Service Companies. This huge warehouse included the longest hallway in the state of Colorado at the time, and was home to three golf-carts nicknamed Snapp, Crackle and Pop.

Possibly Dons favorite activity was his Lunch Bunch. Don and his four friends (Nelson Ball, Frank Gebers, Dick Johnson and Jack Yee) always met for lunch at new and exciting Denver-area restaurants. But, twice a year, they went to their favorite Chinese restaurant, Chans Inn of Thornton, Colorado, for Special Egg Rolls and Combination Lo Mein - Dons favorite!

Don and Carol worked tirelessly together with the Tri-Delta Sorority philanthropy benefit for The Childrens Hospital Cancer . Since 1972, this annual event and Endowment Fund has raised several million dollars that sponsored new protocols and physicians, paid for equipment, play rooms and changed lives. For many years Don volunteered at the events, taking reservations and payments, monitoring the silent auction, working security, and reconciling the books together with Carol. Don and Carol left Denver in 1998 for Sun City. Never one to sit around, Don became instrumental as Cyber Director of the Computer Club at Sun City Georgetown. While Don purchased and managed computer equipment organized the Lab, videotaped and audio-recorded monthly events, community association meetings, and church services, Don became the best-known volunteer of the largest club at Sun City for more than a decade.

A loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandpa and sweet father-in-law, Don dearly loved his family, worrying about them so they would know how much he loved them! Don is survived by Carol B. Snapp, of Georgetown; his children Steven R. (Janet) Snapp, of Cedar Park; David P. (Kate) Snapp, of Littleton, Colorado; and his grandchildren James David Snapp, United States Army, Korea, Nicholas Ray Snapp, of Thornton, Colorado, Alexis Nicole Snapp, of Cedar Park, and Nathan Patrick Snapp, of Cedar Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made to Carol and Dons favorite charity benefiting Denvers Childrens Hospital Cancer : Tri-Delta Fund for The Childrens Hospital, 7386 South Ogden Way, Centennial, Colorado, 80112. Well miss you, PITA1.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. , May 13 at the Worship Place in Sun City. Please contact The Worship Place at Sun City for further information at (512) 869-1310.
