Obituary: Robert W. Smitheal, 86, a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on 4, 2010. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gloria and son, Rodney. Robert is survived by his children, Robert, Jr. and wife Judy, Cheryl and husband David, Randy and wife Deborah, seven grandchildren, Robert, III, Kristen, Staci, Stephanie, Jeremy, Amanda, and Brandon; and 17 great-grandchildren. He bravely served his country during World War II, receiving three Bronze stars and an Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf clusters. Robert was a very modest individual, who never discussed his many accomplishments. Among other things, during his early career, he was a successful homebuilder. Many of the houses he designed and constructed continue to be considered as some of the finer homes located in the Memorial Villages area of Houston. Upon completely changing his business focus, in 1969, Robert co-founded Northwest Manufacturing, later assuming full ownership. With the involvement of many fine employees and loyal customers, Northwest Manufacturing continued its steady development into a company known today for outstanding quality and service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM 8, 2010. Services will be held at 12:30 PM 10, 2010 in the Memorial Oaks Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Obituary: Barbara Smith-Nealy, of Terrell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 7, 2015 in Dallas. Barbara was born 11, 1938 in Dallas, TX to Joe Bailey and Frances Hughes, both of whom preceded her in death along with her husband, Jack Nealy and her sister, Pat Chilcoat-Smith. Barbara was a woman who had tremendous initiative and she was a successful businesswoman having owned and operated her own hair styling salon, Barbara’s Beauty Salon as well as developing a thriving business and a reputation as a dedicated realtor. Barbara assisted her husband with his own Conoco gas station as well so that together, they were a team that proved that a hard work ethic was a crucial key to any achievement. She appreciated items with history and shopping for antiques was one of her favorite activities along with fishing. Traveling was also her passion and going to New Orleans was her preferred destination and she visited several times with many of her family and friends. Spending any time with family was a priority with Barbara and she enjoyed the relaxing (yet still competitive!) domino games and she will be remembered for making the ‘best fudge ever’. A beautiful person, both inside and out, Barbara will leave behind a legacy of love, dedication and ingenuity to each life that she touched and she will be dearly missed. Obituary: Mary Jeanne Smith Linzel, 83 of Houston, Texas, died peacefully in her home on 4th. She was born on 20, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Arkansas. Jeanne had a zest for life and a competitive nature that served her well in every aspect of her life. An avid Duplicate Bridge champion, Jeanne was admired and sought for her keen skill in the game of Bridge, having achieved a Emerald level certification. She began playing Bridge while in college and continued to play regularly for the next 65 years. She was a member of the Houston Bridge Club of Unit 150, TX, as well as the ACBL. Jeanne also had a love of music. She graduated from Hendrix college in Conway, Arkansas with a degree in Music. Upon moving with her husband to Monroe, LA, she taught piano in her home for many years. Many family Christmas mornings were filled with the sounds of Christmas while she and son Michael on piano, son David on bass clarinet, and son Steve on trombone filled their home with music. In addition to playing bridge, Jeanne also loved dancing, flower gardening, murder mysteries, and dogs. Theres never been a time in her life when she did not have at least one dog and often two. She said when her first son was born she didn know how to care for a baby, but she knew how to care for a newborn puppy, so she fed the baby often and he survived. She often referred to her sons as her litter of boys. Jeanne had a quick sense of humor and was the life of the party. She loved to entertain friends and family in her home and she was the ultimate Scarlet OHara. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Austin Smith and David Andrew Smith of Camden, Arkansas and her brother, David A. Smith, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia. She is survived by three sons: David M. Linzel, TX; Stephen E. Linzel and wife Judy of Lake Stevens, WA; and Michael F. Linzel of Houston, TX. She has two grandchildren: Shelly Young of Allen, TX and Tray Lucero of Houston, TX. She also has one great granddaughter, Ashley Young of Allen, TX. The family will greet friends from 1 pm until 4 pm 6th at Jeannes home. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Oaks cemetery following a private ceremony. The Linzel family would like to extend their gratitude to Memorial Hermann/Memorial City Hospital and Vitas Hospice for their loving care of Jeanne.
