Obituary: Wayne Joseph Smith, an employee of Fannie Mae Corporation, departed this life on , 3, 2014 at the age of 51. He was the beloved husband of Veronica Lucero Smith of 9 years. A native of San Mateo, California and Salt Lake City Utah, Wayne attended Palo Alto High School and San Jose State University. While employed at Stanford University Medical School Laboratory, he served as President of the Labor Union. Wayne loved music, history and politics; he loved to debate with anyone at anytime. Waynes passion in life was cycling, he loved riding his bike, and he was a member of the Tri Mac Triathlon team. Even though Wayne was not able to compete in an Iron Man, he will cross the finish line with his coach Carolina Carstens on her next Iron man. His Father Jessie B. Smith and his beloved dog Rocky preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Veronica, his mother JoAnn, his brothers Rodney and Andy two step children Phil Martinez (Melanie) and Jennifer Taufa (Hokani); four grandchildren, one niece Kiara, two nephews Rodney and Wayne Smith; Beloved relatives, Allyson, Amos and Ava Neal, Raquel Jones Victor Rector and Grayling Bocage, and friends John Burch, Frank Palraj and a host of other relatives and friends. Obituary: Warren Carley Smith, 87, passed away , 9, 2015, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Services are scheduled for 3:00PM , 13, 2015, at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan with Larry Suttle, Pastor of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm evening at the funeral home. Warren was born 1, 1928, in Burkett, Texas, to Carl and Melissa Smith. Warren or Smitty as his friends often called him, was a proud member of The Greatest Generation. Warren served in the United States Navy during World War II. At the age of 15, Warren joined the Navy and attended bootcamp in Farragut, Idaho. In of 1944, Warren was transported to Treasure Island Receiving Station where he awaited assignment. During the War, Warren served on a number of ships including a destroyer known as the USS Kyes. Eventually, he was assigned to the USS Trever, which was a Clemson-Class Destroyer that was later reclassified as a high-speed mine sweeper in of 1940. On board the USS Trever, Warren and his shipmates traveled North through the Pacific escorting carriers and paving the way for the marines to take the islands North towards Japan, including the invasion of the Philippines. The last Island to be taken was the Island of Okinawa which would serve as the launching ground for the invasion of Japan. However, the atomic bomb changed the course of the War and brought about a complete and total surrender of the Japanese, which made the invasion unnecessary, saving the lives of tens of thousands of US Service men. Warren was honorably discharged from the Navy on 31, 1948. He and Billie Mae Brannon were married in Wichita Falls in 1950 and had 63 wonderful years before her passing in 2014. were members of Edgemere Church of Christ and later Tenth and Broad Church of Christ. Warren retired as an insurance adjuster with Crawford and , in 2001. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always took care of his family. Warren was a Hospice volunteer for three years until his health began to fail. He loved to comfort those who were facing terminal illness and by offering reassurance of a better life to come. Warren was a Dallas Cowboy fan from the clubs inception and especially loved to watch Dallas Cowboy football with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Warren is preceded in death by his mother and father; Carl and Melissa Smith and his loving wife, Billie Mae Smith. He is survived by his three children, Shelley Sue Carlson of Richardson, Texas, and her husband, Richard; Cindy Lou Green of Indianapolis, Indiana and her husband Richard; Chuck Smith from Wichita Falls, and his wife Deatra; five Grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Carlson, Ryan Smith Green, Garrison Warren Smith, Mitchell Austin Smith, and Story Mae Smith; two great grandchildren, Jamie Green and Joshua Green. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., 76310. |

Obituary: Warren L. Smith was born 7, 1937 in East Point, Louisiana to early Mae McDowell Smith and Hayward Smith. Both parents precede him in death as well as his older brother Hayward Smith Jr. Warrant left this earth for his heavenly home on 4, 2014. He attended Springville High School in Coushatta, Louisiana at the age of 17 years old. Warren joined the United States Air Force where he remained and retired as a Staff Sergeant receiving many honors and awards. He truly enjoyed the Military Life and encouraged his grandsons to follow in his footsteps. leavings the Air Force Warren worked various positions as a Lab Medical Technician and at the United States Post Office where he later retired. He accepts Christ as his personal savior early in life. He attended Church at the Military Church in Carswell Air Force Base. Warren leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter Jennifer Lynn Smith of Benbrook, TX; the joy of his life, his grandsons, Joshua and Moses of Benbrook, TX; brothers, Arthur Hayes and wife Rosie and Charles Hayes of St. Louis, MO; sister, Erma Blaire and husband Blaire; Aunts, Leola Reed from Long Beach, CA and Mae Jessie Sykes from Shreveport, LA. Warren also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, a special niece Tammy Hayes, a special cousin Jenean McDowell from Forest Hill, TX and a special friend, Patricia B. Duson. He enjoyed his life and he loved his family. |
