He is preceded in death by his Mother (Fern), Father (Chester), 3 Brothers (Donald, Henry, Lowell) and 1 Sister (Heilda) He was born 25,1933 to Fern and Chester Smith, in Havana IL, graduated from Havana High School, he Joined the Air force 10, 1953 , he married Shirley Smith of 1954, they had 4 beautiful children, he spent 13 months in Vietnam and retired at Castle Air force Base in Winton CA in 1983 after serving 30 year. While in the Air Force he received a bronze star, and numerious other medals and citations. retirement he worked and retired from Foster Farms in Winton CA, he then moved to Garland Texas, 1990 where he spent years continuing to serve by volunteering at the Dallas VA and the Lone Star Chapter, Paralyzed Veterans of America. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Smith, Daughter, Frances Williams and her partner Les Gibbins, 3 sons ( Ted Smith Jr. Spouse Robyn Smith, Tim Smith and Greg Smith, spouse Karen Smith) 13 Grand Children and 12 Great Grand Children and various nieces and nephews. Obituary: Georgetown, Texas resident, Robert W. Smith, passed away peacefully at his Sun City home on , 19, 2015 with his beloved Ginny at his side. He was 87 years old. He entered this life in Dubuque, Iowa on 20, 1927, the first born to Dr. Owen P. Smith and Norma Wolcott Smith. His childhood was spent in Peoria, Illinois where he went to Peoria High School. At age 17, he and a group of his classmates volunteered for WWII service in the US Navy. were called to active duty before graduation, so the parents marched across the stage and received their diplomas for them. He served as a Medical Corpsman during the war. wards, he attended the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He received a BS degree in Business in 1950. only six months on his first job in Chicago, he was recalled for service in the Korean War. The following year a new Officer Candidate School was started by the Navy in Newport, Rhode Island and Bob was selected from the fleet for the first class. He graduated and was commissioned in 1951. Later the following year while serving aboard the destroyer USS Cogswell DD-651, he received word that he had completed the required active duty time for the call-up, and was released from active duty so he could then restart his civilian career. He continued service in the Reserve with various assignments to retirement in San Jose in 1971 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. For 40 years Bob worked in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, and Computer Systems. He was with Shell Oil Co. for 12 years in Chicago, New York City (Head Office) and San Francisco. wards, he was Vice President and Controller for a Mutual Fund in San Francisco, President of Systems and Software Design Corp in Palo Alto, California, a company he founded, Vice President and Controller for the leasing division of the Crocker Bank, and Controller for SRMC, a computer company in San Jose, California. Bob volunteered as a Coach and Treasurer for Little League, a Tax Preparer for seniors in the AARP program, and an elementary school mentor. Favorite activities included gardening, traveling, league bowling, doing daily crosswords, and Sudoku. He particularly enjoyed going to reunions for his schools, fraternity, Navy ships, and the Wolcott family. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and MOWW (Military Order of the World Wars) as well as a number of clubs in Sun City. He was married three times. First to Mary Jane Cramer of Chicago for 51 years and with whom he raised four children, mostly in California. she passed away, he married Jeanne Brilliott of Madison, Wisconsin. decided to retire and moved to Sun City in 2004. had eight good years together before she died in 2010. Unexpectedly, he met Virginia Brantley Hillendahl, also a Sun City resident, originally of Abilene, Texas and recently widowed. fell in love soon after and were married in 2011. She also had four children in her first marriage, so between them they have 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides his beloved Ginny, survivors include his daughter, Mary K. Gawley and husband Charlie with three children of Fairfield, California; his daughter, Barbara Fortanely and six children of Pflugerville, Texas; his son, Roger and wife Juli-Ann and three children of Riverton, Utah; his daughter, Carol Cook and husband William with two children of Pflugerville, Texas. Also surviving is his brother, Edward P. Smith and his wife, Jan in Morton, Illinois as well as two sisters, Margaret Ross of Sarasota, Florida, and Mary Jo Stewart and her husband, Phillip of Peoria, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Thomas and his sister, Martha. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Cook-Walden Davis in Georgetown, Texas at 7:00p.m. , 23, 2015. A Mass will be held at 10:00a.m., 24, 2015 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas. A 2:00p.m. inurnment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans in Killeen, Texas with full military honors. Obituary: Robert Earl (Bob) Smith, 86, of Bryan, passed from this world to his Heavenly on , 12, 2014, with his wife and children by his side. Bob was born on 24, 1927, to George E. and Nora Logue Smith in Ottumwa, Iowa. graduation from Ottumwa High School in 1946, he served our country in the Merchant Marines as a fireman/oiler/water tender in the engine room of the Albert A. Michelson vessel. In 1947, he met Marlus Jean Padget of Batavia, Iowa, whom he married on 7, 1948. recently celebrated 67 years together. In of 1951, Bob and Marlus packed up with their two young daughters, Lynn and Sheryl, and moved to Houston to find employment in the refineries in Pasadena. He later found work with Stoffel Distributing, a welding supply company. In of 1958, Bob was asked to open a branch of Stoffel in Bryan, Texas, where he worked and raised his family, which now included a son, Robby. That was a great move! Bob eventually bought the company changing the name to Bob Smith Corporation. Bob enjoyed boating, camping and RVing. He spent many hours on Lake Belton, patiently teaching his three children and all of their friends how to water ski. The camping under a tarp on the side of the lake eventually became camping inside their RV. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed puttering in the garage and fixing things, whether they needed it or not, and loved driving the RV with Marlus (GG) and their puppy dogs. He was a member of the Bryan Jaycees and The Bryan Noon Lions Club. Bob could keep his friends entertained with his sharp wit and dry sense of humor. He especially liked sharing that humor with the men's coffee group at Shipley's. Bob was a lifelong Baptist, who firmly believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and who invited Jesus to live His life in him and through him. He was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1959. God's word tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:16, "This is the reason we do not give up. Our human body is wearing out, but our spirits are getting stronger every day." Daddy never gave up; he never quit and never had idle hands. Rest in peace, my husband, our daddy and our PaPa. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlus, daughter Lynn Smith, daughter Sheryl Lampo and her husband Frank, son Robby Smith and his fiancée Paula Terrell all of Bryan and Station. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Jill Smith-Mott of McDade, TX; Katy Smith Wheat of Station; Brad Smith of Katy, TX; Matt Lampo of Dallas, TX; Marcy Lampo Porrata of Bryan; Robby Stephany Smith, Kayley Smith and Brandon Smith of Station. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Anna Olsta, Jake Olsta, Charli Ann Smith, Avery Smith, Eli Porrata and Gabe Porrata. Bob is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Smith Armstrong and her husband, John of Pasadena, TX; two nieces, Polly Davidson of Conroe and Karen Bridges of Pasadena and his cousin, Jeanie Phillips, of LaPorte, TX. A time of visitation will be held , 15th, from 5:30-7:00 pm, at Memorial Chapel in Bryan. Services will be held on , 16th, at 1:00 pm in the Family Life Gathering Room at Central Baptist Church in Bryan, TX. Pallbearers will be Matt Lampo, Brandon Smith, Adrian Porrata, Eric Mott, Wayne Wheat, Jake Olsta, Jeff Terrell and Jeff Clifford.
