Obituary: Leslie Charles Smith, 83, passed away on 31, 2014. Leslie was born in Click, Llano , Texas on 9, 1931 to Leslie Morgan Tess and Annie W Smith. He grew up in Llano and at a young age started working in his fathers Humble station and developed a life-time appreciation of automobiles! He graduated from Llano High School in 1949 as Valedictorian. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for one year majoring in Chemical Engineering and lettered in Freshman Tennis. He transferred to Texas Lutheran in Seguin in 1950 and graduated in 1953 with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry. There he lettered in football, tennis and track. He served for 2 years in the U S Army, 18 months of that in Germany from 1953-1955. Upon returning to the U.S. he taught school and coached for two years. In 1957 he began employment as a Chemist and Toxicologist at the Texas Department of Public Safety, retiring in 1986 after 28 years of employment. Leslie married Angelyn Wuthrich, his college sweetheart in 1957. shared many years of hobbies, photography, traveling, collecting odds and ends and spending free time at the lake. In 1962, Leslie and Angie were Sports Car Club of America National Rally Champion driver and navigator, having won rallies in Arizona, Colorado and Texas in Leslies Porsche 1600 N Cabrolet. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents Tess and Annie Smith. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Angie Smith, his sister Tessie Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Leslies memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association. A graveside service will be held under the direction of Cook Walden at Llano City at 3:00 pm, , 2, 2014. Jan is survived by her children, Letha Gaudet and husband Larry; Christie Karr and Jesse Guzman; and Mike Karr; grandchildren, Clay and Ty Gaudet; Zach Smith; Mallory Jones and Cody Mull; Kain Stidham; Max Stidham; Alex Stidham; and McKellar Karr; great grandchildren, Hallie Gaudet; Cutter Gaudet; Jaydon Walls; Caydence Walls; siblings, Steve and Mary Earl Smith; Stanley and Sandra Walters; Luke and Terri Frances; as well as several nieces and nephews; and special friends; Steve and Suzie Philpott; and Terry Kornegay. Jan loved working in her yard and gardening, and always kept her swimming pool ready for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Obituary: Mr. LeRoy W. Smith, age 84, passed away on 9, 2005 in San Antonio, TX. He was a graduate of the University of Texas and was self-employed in the insurance business. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and is a World War II veteran. Mr. Smith was actively involved in the Downtown Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the FFA. He was also actively involved with the East Central School Scholarship Fund and was inducted into the East Central School District Hall of Fame. He also served as Director of the San Antonio Stock Show and received the Hall of Fame Award in 2004. Mr. LeRoy W. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Warren Smith. Obituary: Died 29, 2016 at age 95, at Phoenix house in Lubbock, Texas. Cremation and burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. She requested that no final service be held. She was preceded in death by her husband, Presley Walter Smith, on 13, 2014. Lera was born May 17, 1921 to Claude and Leska (Holt) Terry in Plainview, Texas. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1937, where Lera graduated from San Jacinto high school in 1939. She married Fred Cowart in 1940. One son was born to this union, Fredric Harold Cowart II, in 1943. moving back to Lubbock, Texas in 1943, she worked for; The United Way, Moss Gordon Gin Equipment and Texas Tech University Library, where she was senior administrative assistant to the library director for 23 years. Lera retiring in 1985. Lera married Presley Walter Smith in 1947. One son was born to this union, Kenneth Walter Smith, in 1953. Lera was Methodist. She spent many happy hours working with her flowers and was particularly fond of Iris. She enjoyed fly fishing, tennis and golf. Survivors include her sons; Fredric Cowart II and his wife, Carol, of Wichita, Kansas, Kenneth Smith and his twin daughters, Abigail and Emily, of Aurora, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. Obituary: Leonor Maria Smith was born in San Antonio, Texas on 31, 1928. Leonor is preceded in her death by her parents, Leonor Magnon Grubbs and Phillip Grubbs, her brother Edward L. Grubbs, her twin grandsons Stephen and John Maher, and her husband, John Charles Smith. Leonor attended Ursuline Academy and later graduated from Martin High School in Laredo, Texas in 1945. She received her bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from Texas Womens University in 1949 and received a Professional Teaching Certificate for Secondary Education. On 20, 1949, she married John Charles Smith at St. Peter Catholic Church in Laredo. The couple lived in Bellville, where all her children were born, and for three years in Bay City, Texas. In 1961, the family moved to Houston and joined St. Cecilia Catholic Church, where Leonor remained a parishioner until her death. Leonor was a teacher of English and Spanish at St. Cecilia Catholic School from 1961 to 1978. Leonor was a substitute teacher at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart from 1979 to 1987. For the following two years, she volunteered full-time at Saint John Paul II Catholic School to teach Spanish and then retired from professional teaching in 1989. Leonor was the grand-daughter of Leonor Villegas de Magnon, founder of La Cruz Blanca or the White Cross of Mexico and the author of two memoirs, The Rebel and La Rebelde, the English and Spanish language accounts of her work in the Mexican Revolution of 1910. Leonor assisted her grandmother in editing and publishing the memoirs, and establishing her permanent collection at the University of Houston Special Collections Library. In retirement, Leonor enjoyed her volunteer work as a Eucharistic Minister for the home-bound, an office worker at the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Cecilia, and as an interpreter and counselor for the Emergency Services of Memorial Area Ministries. Leonors greatest joy was always the time she spent with her husband and her family, and her years of commitment to her beloved St. Cecilia community. She is survived by her four children, Herbert Smith and wife Leanna, Valerie New and husband Charlie, Susan Maher and husband Stephen, and Mary Nugent and husband Mark, as well as her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Vigil for Leonor will be held on at 5:00 PM at Memorial Oaks at 13001 Katy Freeway. The Mass for Leonor will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, located at 11720 Joan of Arc, on , 17 at 10:00 am., followed by the Rite of Christian Burial at Memorial Oaks . A reception will follow at St. Cecilia Community . In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. |
