Obituary: Darrell E. Smith, 89, long time Midland resident and independent oil operator, passed away on 21, 2016. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving near the end of WWII. He was born May 16, 1926 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Heber D. & Hazel Hale Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Donna N. Smith and his two brothers Donald H. Smith and Stan G. Smith. He is survived by his brother Edward F. (Ted) Smith of Salt Lake City, UT; his four children D. Craig Smith, Kirk E. Smith and wife Debbie Smith, Shelley F. Smith and husband Russell Erwin and Christine H. Vest and husband Steve Vest; grandchildren Ann Marie Smith, D. Bryan Smith, James G. Smith, Michael K. Smith, G. Ryan Peckham, S. Keith Vest and D. Nicole Simpson, and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on , 24th at Ellis . Burial and graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 25th at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. The family wishes to give special thanks to Yolanda V. Obituary: Darline Lillie (Miller) Smith, 80, of Midland, TX passed away on , 5, 2011, with the full graces of the Catholic Church. Darline and her husband Daryl had been residents at the Vogel of Manor Park where they received gentle care for the past two years. were members of St. Anns Catholic Church. Darline was born on 20, 1930 in South Sioux City, NE, the daughter of H. Burl and Lillie E. (Laird) Miller. She attended school in South Sioux, graduating from South Sioux City High School in 1948, where she met her lifelong companion, Daryl L. Smith. Darline and Daryl were married 30, 1950, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in South Sioux City. made their home first in Lincoln, NE, where Daryl was finishing college, and then in Lyons, NE, Perry , IA, and Omaha, NE, and finally Midland, TX where they had lived since 1972. Darlines career was being a mom, and she was an accomplished seamstress, and loved to crochet and garden. Darline was preceded in death by her husband on 12, 2010, and by her parents, her daughter-in-law Lisa Loveless Smith, her granddaughter Stephanie. Darline is survived by her 9 children, daughter Liane (Tony) Gulizia of Longmont, CO; daughter Cindy (Jerry) OHagan of Advance, NC; son Rev. David Smith, S.J., of Griswold, IA; daughter Shari (Greg) Folger of Midland, TX; son Bryan (Sandy) Smith of Carrollton, TX; son Allan Smith, DDS of Bellevue, NE; son Lance (Shari) Smith of Midland, TX; son Danny (Mary) Smith, DDS of Papillion, NE; and daughter Susie (Patrick) Van Deventer of Grapevine, TX; 27 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; three brothers Marvin (Ella) Miller of South Sioux City; Melvin (Joyce) Miller of Bloomington, MN; Bill (Jane) Miller of South Sioux City; two sisters Charlyne (Ron) Cameron of Allen, TX; Karen (Don) Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City, and an uncle Jacque (Marian) Miller, and 2 sisters-in-law Dee (Leo Pat) Engel, Jo (Ray) Jones, both of South Sioux, and a brother-in-law Jerry (Charlotte) Smith, DDS of Bennington, NE. Danny married Starla Smith on 3, 1989, in Sherman, Texas. were together for 37 years. Danny lived in Princeton for over 40 years and worked as a plumber and maintenance supervisor. Danny enjoyed watching movies and was a big fan of John Wayne. His family was very special to him, and he will be greatly missed by each of them. Obituary: Danny B. Smith On 20, 2012, a beautiful sunny morning, Danny B. joined his heavenly family. With his loving and caring wife Darlene by his side, he faced cancer the same way he lived life - with courage and grace. No matter how he felt, he always made sure others - family, friends, doctors or nurses - left with smiles on their faces. Born in Konawa, Oklahoma on 2, 1930, he was proud to be raised in the East Texas town of White Oak where he was a gifted musician and leader of his award-winning high school band. He would use his musical gifts in service to his country during World War II as a leader of the European-based Army band. the war, his lifes work would focus on three things: family, golf and Members Mutual Insurance. In 1959, Danny started traveling the state of Texas setting up the very first offices for Members Mutual, hiring the first employees and spreading the word about insurance. 28 years helping build the company, he retired in 1987 and embarked on his second career as an avid golfer and golf club repairman. His gregarious personality and constant presence at Van Zandt Country Club earned him the nickname Uncle Danny with members young and old. With his trusty Velvet Touch putter - a one-of-a-kind putter just as unique as he was - he was an accomplished player well into his seventies. While his golf clubs may be silent now, his love and passion for the game successfully passed onto his son. Successful in business and golf, he would say his most important accomplishment was his family. Married for 46 years, Dan and Darlene made Carrollton, TX their home. From there they explored life. In their younger years, they could often be found exploring all parts of old Mexico. And later, they would visit historic places like Deadwood, SD, backdrops of Dans favorite author, Louis Lamour. Their love grew even stronger in his final months as my mom lovingly and unselfishly dedicated her life to his. A fact he never stopped thanking her for. While he raised and inspired his son to be the best he could be in academics, sports, business and, most importantly, life, he was most proud of his two grandchildren. He constantly nurtured and encouraged Mackenzies love of music, and even in his final days, was more concerned for Jakes broken finger than his own health. There are so many people that cared for Uncle Danny in his final days. Emily, his home nurse, whose genuine compassion and support will never be forgotten. Jenna, his physical therapist, who pushed him to stay strong. His neighbor, Bruce Belknap, who was always there when they needed help around the house. Dr. Donald Bernstein, who cared for both my mom and dad, providing emotional as well as physical support. In addition, wed also like to thank the great doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and technicians at Baylor Carrollton, Select Specialty Hospital of Carrollton, Zale Lipshy, Signature Pointe by the Lake, and UT Southwestern Simmons Cancer . Danny is survived by his wife Joyce Darlene, his son Joe Shelton (whom he always called Bo) and his wife Jessica, grandchildren Mackenzie and Jake, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William Shelton and Maude Lillus, sisters Louise and Mildred, brothers Earnest and Roy. Visitation will take place at 10 am on , 23 followed by memorial and graveside services at 11:30 am at Rhoton , 1511 South I-35 E., Carrollton, TX 75006.
