Obituary: Carri Ann Simms, age 83, of Pearland, Texas, went to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on 30, 2014. She was born on 19, 1931 in Montgomery, Alabama to James and Mildred Lucas. Carri trusted Christ as her Savior in 1984, at the age of 52. She left a career at Continental Oil to be a full time mother and housewife. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed growing different types of plants and flowers. In the eyes of her family, she was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. She enjoyed the monthly Primetimers gathering at the Friendswood Friends Church, where she and Frank attend church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank, children Rick Simms and wife Robin, Cyndi Tipton and husband Terrell, Denise Carter and husband Billy, Kurt Simms and wife Mary, Chad Simms, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and sister, Judith Critendon. Pallbearers are Billy Carter, Blake Carter, Terrell Tipton, Cole Tipton, Brant Elmore, and Chad Simms. Family will receive friends at 9:00 A.M. on , 4, 2014, with a service celebrating her life to follow at 10:00 A.M., both in the chapel at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas. Obituary: W. Woody Simmons was born 27, 1923 in Wise , TX. He passed away 30 in Dallas, TX. He attended school in Rhome, TX. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted by the Army and served at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, until being deployed overseas. He served in the South Pacific theatre at Okinawa. When WWII ended in 1945, he was sent to Seoul, Korea, and served until 1946. He returned home when discharged that same year. Woody worked for Mid-Continent Supply , Producers Supply and Tool , and Fort Worth Pipe & Supply until 1978, when he left to form Mid-West Pipe & Supply in Burleson, Texas. He continued Mid-West Pipe & Supply and continued ranching until 1985. He then sold both businesses and ranch, retiring to Cedar Creek Lake, where he formed Cedar Creek Pipe & Supply. Woody was a member of Aley First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Gainesville Masonic Lodge #210 and a charter member of Fort Worth Scottish Rite. He was a member of Moslah Shrine Temple, and a past president and life member of Moslah Shrine Directors Unit. Woody is survived by his son, Woody Simmons, Jr of Austin, daughter Donna Simmons Preston of Coppell, and 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and another due in . He is also survived by sisters, Jeanette Newton of Arlington, and Cora Stevens of Pantego. Open visitation will be at Shannons Rose Hill on 2, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, and , Nov 3, from 9:00 until noon. Family visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the funeral at 2:00 PM, with burial at Rose Hill and reception following interment at Rose Hill Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Moslah Temple Fund Drive, c/o MoslahTemple Directors, 1100 Henderson Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76104. |

Obituary: Wilma Jean Reeves Simmons 17, 1934 - 8, 2011 Born in Tate, Georgia, Jean spent her formative years in Alcoa, Tennessee and graduated from Maryville High School. Jean is predeceased by her mother, Paralee Compton Reeves; father, Bluford Reeves; brother, Bluford Reeves, Jr. (Buck); sisters, Oleeta Reeves Green, Frances Reeves Caylor, and Eloise Reeves Stephenson; and husband, Maj. Wilbur Simmons. Jean is survived by her sister, Brenda Reeves Walden; brothers-in-law, Gary Walden, Bill Stephenson, Robert I. Simmons, and Harry Ganey; step-daughter, Suzette Simmons Weber; grandchildren, Amy Weber and Matthew Weber; daughter, DLisa R. Simmons; son-in-law, Michael Barnes; her best friend from childhood, Bettie Pemberton Green; and many, much loved nieces and nephews. high school graduation, Jean attended nursing school through the University of Michigan, completed her nursing training at St. Marys Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, and became a Registered Nurse. her marriage to Maj. Wilbur Simmons, Jean moved to Texas where she continued to work as a Registered Nurse and rear her daughters, Suzette Simmons Weber and DLisa R. Simmons. A member of St. Georges Episcopal Church in Texas City for some thirty years, Jean spent her latter years in Houston near her daughter, DLisa. While she eventually retired from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, Jeans first professional calling, and her unending commitment, was to public health. While born during the Great Depression, Jean believed the power of equality is attained through education. A trailblazer in her time, Jean was the first in her family to attend college and have a profession, paving the way for others in the family to follow. Jean had a strong sense of empathy, especially for those people who were considered the underdogs of our lives. Jean was a strong proponent of basic primary healthcare services available to all, regardless of ones station in life. A person who thought for herself and marched to the beat of her own drummer, Jean also believed in truth and integrity. She touched many lives as a nurse, wife, sister, friend, and especially as a loving mother. Jean was known for her sense of style, whether wearing chopsticks in her bun which coordinated with her outfit, or range of hair styles and colors during her younger days. While not renowned for her skills in the kitchen, Jean loved seafood and made wonderful dill-pickled carrots. The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers who provided excellent care during Jeans final years, as she struggled with Alzheimers disease and COPD: Winston Watkins, M.D. (Internal Medicine); Richard Pesikoff, M.D. (Psychiatry); Louis Roddy, M.D. (Pulmonology); Jeffrey Lee, M.D. (Gerontology); the wonderful caregivers at the Cottages of Spring Branch, especially Deborah, Patris, Yanira, Alex, Sheila, Elizabeth, Mary, Ron, and Claudia; and the staff at Hospice Compassus, including Nurse Ashley, Nurse Robert, Nurse Mary France, and Nurse Sandy. You have been our angels on earth.
