Obituary: Jimmie Simcik, 83, of Victoria, passed away peacefully at his home in Victoria on , 20, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born 6, 1927 in Flatonia, the son of James and Anna Rosenauer Simcik. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Theresa Fougerat on Nov. 27, 1951. He was a retired bookkeeper and office manager for Patterson Well Service. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa Simcik of Victoria; daughters, Debbie Mladenka and husband Paul of McQueeney, Paula Owen of Victoria, Mary Bitterly and husband Keith of Victoria; sons, Mark Simcik and wife Debbie of Victoria and John Simcik of Austin; sister, Evelyn Gibson and husband Robert of Virginia; eight grandsons; and one granddaughter. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. , 24, 2010 at Colonial with visitation to follow. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. , 25, 2010 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Father Charles Otsiwah officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers include Phillip Reagan, Aaron Simcik, Ethan Simcik, Bryan Rolette, Keith Bitterly, and Paul Mladenka. Obituary: Dr. Kenneth Simcic, age 51, passed away on 3, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. Ken enrolled at Duquesne University at the age of 16, where he majored in Biology. He was a starting defensive lineman for the Iron Dukes football team and a championship street hockey player. He attended medical school at Temple University where he continued to pursue his love of sports on the rugby team. It was there that he met Mary, his wife of 26 years. 22 years of ARMY service, he continued to practice medicine in San Antonio at UTHSCSA. Throughout his career, he was recognized in his field with many awards and publications, including multiple publications in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Annals of Internal Medicine. Ken was a unique and caring physician, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues, patients, and students. He was an active member of the community, serving as a guest newspaper columnist for the El Paso Times. He coached his daughters fast-pitch softball teams for 14 years as well as coaching for the Special Olympics and organizing neighborhood roller hockey games. Ken will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and for the faith that guided all his actions. He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands-Psalms 78:72. He is survived by his wife, Mary Simcic; daughters, Natalie, Jacqueline and Lauren; parents, Margaret and Nicholas Simcic; siblings, Nicholas, Margaret, Mary Jane, Mary Ann, Paul, Robert and Gregory; and many nieces and nephews. |

Obituary: Ui Hyong Sim passed away peacefully at home on 20, 2002. Born in Chung Song, Korea in 1921, Mr. Sim had traveled and lived in Korea, Japan and China before settling in the port city of Inchon, South Korea, where he spent many years working with the United States Army as a member of the Korean Service Corps. In 1978, Mr. Sim came to the United States and lived on the east and west coasts before residing in San Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Song; his sons, Untaek Sim and wife Sun Hee of Baltimore, Maryland, and Intaek Sim and wife Insuk of ville, Virginia; his daughters, Unsu Dahlquist and husband Mark of San Antonio, Texas, Eunho Huh and husband Ben of Granada Hills, California, and Unko Brown and husband Tom of Houston, Texas. He was blessed with twelve grandchildren. Mr. Sim will be laid to rest in Falls Church, Virginia. |

Obituary: Jessie Isabella Sim was born on 10, 1913 in Station, Texas. She was born to William Sim and Annie Allan Sutherland-Sim. One year of her life was spent on the Mitchell Ranch in Marfa, Texas. her fatherÂs death in 1927, she and her sister, Mary Ellen Sim Cruse, moved to Waco at the Methodist which was the Waco residence of their guardian, John Wesley Mann. Jessie graduated from Waco high School in 1931 and upon graduation, attended Baylor University where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree and graduated cum laude in 1943. She was a member of the honor society, Alpha Chi and acquired graduate honors from the University of Texas and Austin in Sherman. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas. For eight summers, she was employed as a stenographer for Sherman law firms and for the Grayson school superintendent. In 1957, she accepted an invitation to join the business and economics faculty at Texas State for women in Denton, Texas, which became Texas WomanÂs University. At this point in her life, she had totaled twenty-three years public school experience, acceptance of the invitation to go to Denton added twelve more years of teaching experience which included a three year stint from 1960-1963, as assistant dean of women. She also served as Alpha State President and International President in Delta Kappa Gamma Society affairs. In 1969, she was employed at the Society Headquarters in Austin; from 1979-1981, was executive secretary and the 4th treasurer for the Society. Retiring in 1982, she came out of retirement in 1983 to become adjunct assistant professor of economics totaling 36 years of teaching and thirteen years in administrative employment. She enjoyed the opera, symphony, sewing, reading, playing bridge, seeing stage plays, traveling and seeking restaurants, received the International Achievement Award, 1987 Southwest Regional Conference in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister Mary Hellen Ellen Sim Cruse; nephew, Rex B. Cruse, Jr.; great-niece, Vickie Ann Cruse Sengele, great-great niece, Rachel Ann Sengele and great-great nephew, Jacob Louis Sengele. The family would like to express a special thanks to all of JessieÂs friends that were kind to her throughout her life.
