Obituary: Hugo Guillermo Silva, born 25, 1937 in Lima, Peru, to Peruvian Air Force General Ergasto Silva and Maria Cagigao de Silva, went to his eternal rest on 5, 2014 at the age of 77. He married Leonor Parra on 11, 1967 in Los Angeles, CA where they lived before moving to Miami, FL and eventually settling in Austin, TX in 1984. He and Leonor were founding parents of St. Michaels Catholic Academy and active in St. Theresas Catholic Church in Austin, TX. Hugo arrived in the United States in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 where he was stationed in Germany. He was fond of his Peruvian heritage but he loved this country and was proud to be an American citizen. He started working for IBM Corporation in 1965 and received his bachelors degree in Electric Engineering & Accounting from Southern University in Los Angeles in 1967. He retired from IBM in 1995 after 30 years of service. Hugo loved his family and friends. He is survived by his three children: Claudia Martin-de-Nicolas and Hugo J. Silva of Austin, and Camilo and wife Nathalie Silva of Dallas; five grandchildren: Andres, Alejandro and Paulina Martin-de-Nicolas and Eduardo and Alexia Silva; and three siblings: Amparo Silva de Velarde, Gabriela Silva de Barandiaran and Ergasto Silva Cagigao, all of whom currently live in Lima, Peru. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Leonor Parra de Silva, his parents, his brother Oscar Silva Cagigao and his sister Marcela Silva de Perez. A rosary will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4311 Small Drive, Austin, TX at 7:30 PM on 8, 2014. A mass will be held at the same church on Oct. 9, 2014 at 10 AM with a reception immediately following at the same location. Interment to take place after the reception at Assumption , 3650 S IH 35, Austin, TX starting at 1:00 PM. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Michaels Catholic Academy/Hugo G. and Leonor Silva Scholarship Fund specifically directed for students who are economically disadvantaged. Obituary: Guadalupe (Lupe) Silva, 74, Austin, Texas, died 10, 2014 in Austin Texas. Lupe was born on 3, 1940 to Santiago and Evangelina Silva in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico and was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria del Socorro Silva (Benitez); and daughter, Cristina Grace Dixon. He is survived by his children, Joe Silva (Sarah Lupercio); Cyntia Rodriguez (COL(R) René); Javier Silva (Mary); and Sonia Martinez (Cruz) and siblings Maria Cruz Garza (José Maria), Juanita Alvarado (Rey), Noelia Ruiz (Rodolfo), Manuel Silva (Cristina), and Noemi Garcia (Humberto). In addition, he will be missed by his grand-children: Danielle, Gabrielle, Aron, Angel, Isaac, Trista, Jessica, Sierra, Zoe, Thaddeus, Selah, Riley, Jack and Lorenzo and his great-grandchildren: Zander and Evelynn, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Lupe was a graduate of La Joya High School and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pan American University and owned his own accounting firm in Corpus Christi. In addition, during his varied career he wrote articles for Billboard Magazine, was a disc jockey for several local radio stations, covered the Apollo moon landings as a news reporter, and managed the Tejano band Tejas. In his later years in Austin, as a retired CPA, he continued consulting and giving his time and business expertise freely and openly. He volunteered with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance by reaching out to the Austins Spanish speaking community, enjoyed meeting and working with many in Austins music, theater, and film community, and even became a Buddhist. He had an utmost respect and appreciation for those who follow their passions, put their craft out there and worked hard to achieve their dreams, especially in the creative arts. Through it all, even on the days when his body wasn keeping up, he worked hard and always lived with the belief that half the battle is merely showing up for the fight. Its a lesson we should all remember. A visitation period is scheduled for , 12, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a funeral service is scheduled for , 13, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Both will occur at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas 78412.
