Obituary: Nancy Letitia Isbell Sien died , 19, 2011. Nancy was born 12, 1924 to Agnes Eudora Rutledge and Thomas Bayless Isbell in Niota, TN. She was the only girl and third child born to this union. graduation from Athens High School in 1941, Nancy attended East Tennessee State , graduating in 1945 with a degree in English. While teaching high school English in Oak Ridge, TN, she met James C. Bill Deal, Jr., who was stationed there with the US Army working on the Manhattan Project. married in 1947 and he brought his bride to his hometown of San Angelo, TX. had two daughters, Susan and Abigail, and in 1955, moved to San Antonio, TX. BillÂs death in 1961, she resumed her teaching career, first at Alamo Heights Junior High School and, subsequently, at Eisenhower Middle School. For the next 23 years, she instilled in her students her love of literature, hoping that she would make a difference in their lives. During her career, she had the opportunity to study at Cambridge University and was just six hours short of earning a MasterÂs Degree in English from UTSA. In 1963, she married Edward S. Luke and they shared a love of dancing, travel, bridge, entertaining, and tennis for the next 36 years. At the end of the 1990 school year, Nancy retired and began a career in real estate sales working with Guy Chipman Realty and Bradfield Properties. EdÂs death, she met and married A. C. Sien, Jr. in 2001 and they had opportunities to travel abroad and spend time with friends and family. NancyÂs community activities included membership in the Junior League of San Antonio, San Antonio Symphony Society, McNay Art Institute docent, Southwest Craft , Los Allegradores, San Antonio Country Club, Club Giraud, Live Oak Garden Club, and The Forum. She was a voracious reader enjoying all types of literature and one of her favorite affiliations was a book club where she shared a passion for books with women who became lifelong friends. Upon moving to San Antonio, she became a member of Alamo Heights Methodist Church where she taught school and, subsequently, joined First Presbyterian Church where she was active in her circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Thomas and Samuel; her first husband, James C. Deal, Jr.; second husband, Edward S. Luke; and third husband, A. C. Sien, Jr. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Deal Somerville and Abigail Deal Berg; son-in-law, Chip Somerville; grandchildren, Spencer Somerville, Scott Somerville, Jennifer Johnson, Corey Berg; one great-grandson; and brother, James Isbell. The family extends a special thank you to her devoted physician, Dr. Karl Hempel; her loving caregivers with whom she developed a close friendship, Mira Owens, Cherries Britt, Chandra Chatman and the late Irene Gray; and Christus Hospice. Nancy was fun-loving, intelligent, had an elegant and sophisticated sense of style and was generous with time and gifts to her friends and family. We will miss her dearly. Obituary: Albert Charles Sien, Jr., rancher and independent oil operator, died , 25, 2005. He was born on May 6, 1914 in San Antonio, to Albert Charles and Isabel Sartor Sien. A 1937 graduate of Texas A & M University, he entered active duty in the armed services in 1941 as a first lieutenant in the Field Artillery. Later transferred to the Finance Department, he served in various areas of the United States and in the China Burma India Theatre. Upon returning to civilian life in1946, he became president of numerous organizations, clubs and companies: Shiner Sien Paper Co., Southwestern Paper Merchants Association, National Paper Trade Association, San Antonio Kiwanis Club, The YMCA, Business & Professional MenÂs Club, The Town Club and The Revelers. He was a Director of Alamo Savings & Loan Association, Boysville, Eastern Corporation, S.D. Warren Co., Nakoosa Edwards Paper Co. and Neenah Paper . A. C. was a ruling Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of The San Antonio Country Club, The Argyle and The Petroleum Club. This keenly intelligent and gentlemanly giant of a man was greatly admired and loved by a tremendous number of friends and relatives. He played a significant role in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosalie Murray Sien and by his second wife, Almeda Towns Sien. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Isbell Sien; his son, David S. Sien; his sister, Mary Louise Ford; daughters, Almeda Doughty Hodge and husband, Ned, Day Doughty Smith and husband, Paxton, Susan Deal Somerville and husband, Chip, and Abbie Deal Berg; grandchildren, Katie Sien Cantu and husband, Joe, Jennifer and David Sien, Jr., Ned Hodge, Chris Hodge, and fiancée, Sarah Robinson, Erin Smith Horak and husband, Brad, Elizabeth, Jordan and Lauren Smith, Spencer and Scott Somervile, Jennifer Johnson and Cory Berg; great-grandson, Deavin Cantu; nephew, Bill Gibson and wife, Susan of Georgia. Obituary: Russell D. Siems, age 70, went to be with the Lord on 31, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on 9, 1946 in Hampton, Iowa to Freddie and Ruth Siems. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. Russell served proudly in the United States Air Force for 20 years from 1964 to 1984. He served during the Vietnam War. Russell was stationed at Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas where he met his wife Dora. moved to Forbes AFB, Topeka, Kansas. A tour to the Aleutian Islands and Thailand soon followed. Then onto RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, England for 5 years before returning to Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio where he finally retired. He also worked for the State of Iowa at the Department of Revenue. Russell always enjoyed being on the computer, playing games or keeping up with family and friends. Russell made friends easily as he loved to meet people and talk--a lot. The family is very grateful that they were all together to spend and celebrate Christmas with him. Russell is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Ruth Siems; grandparents, Fred and Tillie Siems and Glen and Marie Hearn. Russell is survived by his wife for 48 years, Dora Siems; San Antonio; two sons, J.R. Siems and wife Nini of Urbandale, Iowa and Steven Siems, San Antonio; grandson Julian Siems, Urbandale, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and other loving relatives.
